I cannot figure out what is taking these White Cloud Mountain Minnows out. Any advise would be appreciated.

Good Luck Bro, Nice to see you back but not under these circumstances. I miss those Tropheus. Keep us updated on that tank.

The surface of your water looks really calm. Another hobbyist shared not long ago he had two canisters on the tank but they were creating no surface agitation and he oxygen-starved some fish just a thought

Thanks for the comment. I have an airstone in the back, and its running full hog. Also my water temperature is sub-tropical and thus can hold more O2.

Did you check your city water if they might have changed anything? If you did what you would normally do then that would be my first thing to check
@AquaticLogic5 жыл бұрын
My city releases monthly water quality reports, and everything looks normal. Its also the dead of winter here (-30C) and that makes our water chemistry really stable.

Is the plants new maybe contaminates on plants like fertilizer slowly poisoning the clouds

when my glass fish started gasping for air it was the ph lvl being to low for them they were shareing tank with my shrimp moved the glass fish out to a "normal" ph lvl tank and they improved imeadately so id suggest check the ph

It's most likely your tap water. Switch to bottled water.

The title should be changed to " I have a damn airstone and the pump is on 11 " 🇨🇦 🌪

Likely internal parasites or worms, happened to me, usually die of fairly quick organ failure, try and find a medicine that treats internal parasites. Especially if they fish are fairly new to the aquarium, I have found that they may do fine for a month or so before they drop pretty quickly, white clouds and other cheaper fish sold in large quantities are often ver susceptible to parasites because they are kept in often less than satisfactory conditions at a wholesaler. just my observation and experience maybe totally wrong. Good luck

At the 2 minute mark is that white stringy poop?? Looks like they have some kind of internal issue
@AquaticLogic5 жыл бұрын
Its possible. I did give them 3 days (6 feedings of Metronidazole).

White clouds are extremely hardy. They may have a disease from purchase time. You could try quarantining them and testing the water for ammonia fluctuations. Make sure no one is spraying anything in the room like febreeze or anything else we tend to use in kids rooms... ny wife was speaking lysol and killed some very expensive fish till I caught her in the act.

A few questions.. How old is the set up? Whats the Water ph? Have you got a Co2 system for the plants? do you have a carbon filters and if so how often fo you change them?
@AquaticLogic5 жыл бұрын
6 months old, pH - 8.0, No CO2, No carbon.
@kevslife5 жыл бұрын
@@AquaticLogic I think personally its a lack of oxygen or contamination of some kind. I did notice how stil the surface is, Also mountain minnows like flowing water they live in streams naturally. Have you checked for salinity at all?
@AquaticLogic5 жыл бұрын
Have not checked salinity, but my water comes from mountains, and I have never had an issue with it.
@kevslife5 жыл бұрын
@@AquaticLogic in that case im not sure.. I'd lose the metro to be honest and see how they pick up if they do. The only other thing I can think of is some type of contamination. I would invest in some carbon for your filters. Carbon takes all impurities out of the water but does need to be changed regular as when its full it dumps it all back in the water after a while. Its good though.
@AquaticLogic5 жыл бұрын
I dose ferts for the plants, so carbon is out of the picture for me in this tank.
@brianp27075 жыл бұрын
Were all the fish added at the same time? If not were they quarantined? Last water change? What conditioners do you add to the water? What's in your filters? Also I see you dont have much surface movement. Your returns are under the surface and not moving it at all.
@AquaticLogic5 жыл бұрын
Fish added within 72 hours of each other (complete change in stocking so nothing was QT'ed), water changed 24 hours ago (SeaChem Prime), Filters have coarse/med/fine mech and bio.
@brianp27075 жыл бұрын
@@AquaticLogic 1st I'd adjust those returns. Get more surface movement

I have an airstone in the back of the tank running flat out (has been in the tank the whole time), and my cooler water temps hold more dissolved oxygen.
@brianp27075 жыл бұрын
@@AquaticLogic for my tanks I never trusted an airstone or bubbler for my main source for surface agitation. For me was always my outputs or wave pumps.
@fishtales25975 жыл бұрын
You need to have surface agitation, so that the gases can evaporate this is why your fish are gasping. Get a nano circulation pump and aim the flow towards the surface so you have a ripple effect. I have an aquarium and you really need the surface agitation. Hope this helps 👍
@AquaticLogic5 жыл бұрын
I have an airstone running flat out in the tank and 2 - 206's. I think my surface agitation is ok, but your right gas exchange is important.
@fishtales25975 жыл бұрын
Airstones are ok for oxygen in the water but do not produce enough gas evaporation, see how you get on. Hope your fish are ok.

Have you checked the following pH kH GH Calcium Iron Copper Phosphate Potassium Silicate Iodine and Iodide
@cichliddude50725 жыл бұрын
My first suspect would be the wood in the tank remove it and do a 💯 % water change over a 2day period
@cichliddude50725 жыл бұрын
I have had wood ruin a tank about 8 mouths after I put it in got it from my local Creek I will never do that again but after I pulled it and added carbon and water change had 5 fish live ... Better then none I guess
@cali25585 жыл бұрын
It almost seems like the water is contaminated. Did you have something on your hands and stick them in there. Do a 25-50% water change. Try increasing the surface agitation. Point your out takes towards the surface.
@AquaticLogic5 жыл бұрын
I just did a 90% water change, and I have an airstone running flat out in the back.
@cali25585 жыл бұрын
Aquatic Logic so did the huge water change help?
@AquaticLogic5 жыл бұрын
Nope. I lost 4 more this morning... Its gotta be a systemic disease of some sort.
@cali25585 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. I would check your filters to make sure it's not something coming from them, and continue to do water daily 25-50% water changes. I hope that helps.

Check the temperature of the water. It doesnt matter if your house is 70-80 degrees. it doesnt mean your tank will be the same. A reliable stable water temperature is very important. I use to have a cheap heater in my aquarium and my cardinal tetras kept getting ich and cat fish dying. I checked everything under the sun and it turned out to be a unreliable heater.

Thanks for the reply. The first video I ever uploaded to KZfaq was on a POS aquarium heater.

What are you water peramiters? pH ammonia nitrites and nitrates. Start with the basics.
