He wrote this yes at age 17. I heard he and Andrew Ridgeley of Wham wrote it together. Was a fine man found out after his passing how generous he was donating millions to hospitals and homeless shelters. Definitely one of the greatest singers ever!!!!

George Michael is a legend! He was also an amazing human being in regards to all his philanthropy and charity works, most of it he did anonymously. Like we only found out after he passed (christmas will never be the same) that he was giving millions away to charity and never told anyone! Oh also he wrote and produced the song as well as the video concept himself. George is incomparable! Y'all just getting a taste lol! This musical genius has something for every vibe! Please check out more of his music, from his days in Wham! to the Faith era and beyond Anyway, keep it up, your coupling is so adorable to me. This was a real experience for him. He went through this as a teenager. He then wrote the entire song in his head while riding on a bus from school to work. He was only 17 years old.. more george. He is know for one of the best voices of all time.

I think I fell in love with him instantly and then I was heartbroken because he really loved all of us, he just could not ever love me/a woman. This is what makes a woman crazy. We want the George’s of the world to be available to us. Then you find out some lucky guy gets this treasure. I think I’ve been pouting for far too long. This man was just amazing.

You might want to check out the song he did with Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me. It was a hit for Elton in the early 70's and they did it as a duet in the early 90's.

George Michael wrote this song when he was 17 years old. He created/composed that saxophone riff himself. He arranged and produced this song. He is an incredible "soul" singer. He was the first "white" male to win Best R&B male singer and Best R&B album in the American Music Awards in 1989. He sang duets with Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige, Whitney Houston, Jody Watley. During Motown Returns To The Apollo concert in 1985, he sang duet of this song with Smokey Robinson and one of Stevie Wonder's song with Stevie himself. He has covered a lot of Stevie Wonder songs with Stevie's blessing! George was an incredible singer, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer. And he was a beautiful human being inside and out. He is sorely missed. RIP, sweet George. George Michael had perfect pitch, which is something extremely rare for singers. He was considered one of the greatest singer/songwriters of his generation and anyone who went to a concert would understand why: he sounded exactly the same singing the songs live. Remember this was before auto tune.

George had a band when he was young with his friend from school, Andrew Ridgeley, in the UK. After George went solo he released this song and it went number one in the UK and ended up being his most successful song. George gave all the royalties to Andrew to make sure he'd always be ok for money. He was a great guy. Check out Freedom 90 too! ✌️

When I first heard this song in 1984. I will never ever forget it I was blown away. I reacted exactly like you. I was fortunate to see him live in Los Angeles in 91. It was AMAZING. he was from a band called WHAM they were huge between 83-86... this song was released in 84 and is often recognised as one of the biggest hits of the 80's. when this song was released there was nothing else like it in the charts it stood out big holding the #1 and 2 spots around the world that year. he was an incredibly good looking guy with an even more incredible voice. he was an incredible singer song writer in fact elton john stated that he was probably the most important sing song writer of our time. george and wham catalogue is huge...his solo career is massive check out WHAM'S - last xmas - wake me up - i'm your man - different corner - edge of heaven and george's solo songs - jesus to a child - faith - fastlove - amazing - i knew you waiting for me - i can't make u love me - find me somebody to love - freedom 90 and so many more '

Since you're delving deeper into the 80s, might I suggest Hall and Oates "you make my dreams (come true)". Its one of those songs you've definitely heard at some point but you had no idea who the artist was.
