Great Vid' Steve. I do like the Uncle Wray, I add an extra half shot of lime and shake for a few sec's longer for a little more dilution. I have a bottle of Doorlys 47 to try. Two Rums you have not mentioned yet that I use are Havana Club 3 Year Old, really enjoy that and Neptune, although not a white rum does make a great Daq!

Hav 3 obvs not coming out to play in these 2 videos, as it's Spanish, not English. And this series obviously does leave the door open to Aged/Gold Rums to see if they can topple White Rums! I'm not just a pretty face mate...

Great comparison and review. I picked up the 3yo Doorly’s @47% a few years ago and has been my go to for daiquiris. Will be interesting to see what you score the upcoming rums!

I keep telling my self I need to take a trip down Daiquiri lane. Make a bunch and see what I like. Plantation 3 stars is my go to white rum at the moment. Not a bad rum to have around when you don't have a lot of options.

Yes, I like 3star in a daiquiri also, that is a solid choice. Strangely, Bacardi Superior white is good too. Just adjust the sugar level to your taste as 3star has some added as most Plantation rums do.

Awesome video series for the best cocktail ;) apart from that, the Spanish style and blended flavoured rums might be interesting aswell. Aluna, Stiggins etc But to get the ratio right might be a bit more difficult with these

I hadn’t thought of Flavoured Rum Das TBH. And I don’t think I have enough of them for a video. Just literally Aluna, Koko Kanu & Stiggins off the top of my head. Will have a look when I’m home.

was just thinking about the English made Lazy Dog Silver. My tasting notes were 'French Vanilla Tart' I wonder in a Daq' it would become 'Key Lime Pie' yummm!!!

Price has to be a big player. Great if it tastes excellent, but if there's just a marginal difference and £10 difference in bottle price, thats a big deal.

Flor de Caña Extra Seco is my go-to for a daiquiri. 60ml/22.5ml/15ml and an extra-long shake balances out very nicely.

If I remember correctly, you like your daiquiris a touch sweeter? Maybe go with rich (2:1) sugar syrup. Cheers!

Keep watching. The Spanish Style come out to play in video 3! So on these I’m currently on a 5:2:1.5. Which ain’t far off yours. Mines just a little bit more Rum Heavy. Yours would be negligible sweeter. But nearly similar Sugar to Lime. Mine is just more volume, that’s all. Yours is a 4:1.5:1.

God No. that’s exactly how a Daiquiri looks with fresh Lime, Sugar, plenty of Ice and a good hard shake!! It’s all about shaking hard.

I'm a big fan of the Chairman's Reserve white rum in a daiquiri. We only get the Doorlys white rum in the 40% abv here and in a plastic 1.75L bottle, which I'm not a fan of.

I can’t believe the difference between the 40% and the 47%. It’s insane. Totally different Rums.

I tend to prefer dark rum, column still type in a lemon daiquiri.

Don’t think I’ve ever Tried Dark Rum with Lemon instead of Lime. Might have to give that a go. 👍

@@StevetheBarmanUK what I have noticed is that not all dark rums pair well with lemon. I had good results with Ron Alegro xo and Kaniche xo. Plantation Original Dark was not bad either.
