Thank you for the video, it's great and nice to see something a little diff from the norm! I did have a question if ok? When you showed us the first 2 quails and we saw she had a huge pile of eggs in their enclosure/pen, but, then we saw the incubator with eggs in it - so I suppose the question is, Wny are some eggs in the incubator and some are not? this!!! even if i was a vegan (which i would love to be but my parents won’t let me until i can afford my own food) i would 1000% give my animals the food they need, even if it has meat in it. i can’t make their lives worse just because of my beliefs.

As someone who used to work for this company, nothing makes me happier than seeing this! I legit teared up missing working with this brand and doing the work to ensure that this food meets label specs( I was a lab tech)I love this company and the people who build and continue to build this brand are amazing. Mazuri is a Swahili word meaning good food or good eats. Pro tip if you flip you bag upside down and open it at the bottom using the sewn in strip, you get a cleaner opening. I hope you continue to support Mazuri. Sorry for the novel, keep doing the good work!!

I always heard multimammate mice were among the most vicious rodents commonly kept as pets, but they are really cute. I am a big rodent fan and those setups aren't even among the worst I've seen to be honest, even though, as you said, they aren't ideal. I agree snakes have to eat and the breeder mice will 100% have a better life with you than any mouse in the wild. I really respect you for giving them enrichment and caring about their wellbeing, a lot of other reptile keepers don't care about their feeder animals. Not seeing tiny, bare, overcrowded cages filled with sawdust is very refreshing. You have the correct bedding (as you mentioned the carefresh), the correct enrichment, the correct food, the correct social groups. I honestly can't commend you enough. Not enough people realise that rodents are very intelligent animals and thrive when given proper care. I know they are just feeder animals but it does upset me when I see people's horrible rodent setups and think about the miserable existence those animals must lead. Sorry for the long comment, I'm just enthusiastic about rodents, and I really admire how you care for and respect your feeder animals. We need more animal keepers like you.
@Jenny-kt2xj
@Jenny-kt2xj 5 жыл бұрын
It's also really nice to see your rodents not cower in fear when you approach them. I've worked in a couple of pet shops where the rodents were so terrified of humans that they would instantly lash out if you went anywhere near them. Got a nasty bite from a large male rat, but can't blame the animals for learning that if they bite the scary thing goes away. Fancy rats don't start off biting, it's a learnt behaviour. I had a wild rescue female Norway rat and she was very shy and skittish but she never ever bit me the entire time I had her.

For the game bird mix to grind it up try using a spice or coffee grinder with a few pulses. Or as you said you can use a mortal and pestle. When using the M&P add a little bird grit in with the pellets to help break them up.

When picking up rodents you should NEVER pick them up by their tails, unless you want to deal with degloving which is extremely painful for them. Always pick up a rat by lifting them up with their entire body and hold close to the body because the eye sight of rats and mice are bad.
@AfroHerpkeeper
@AfroHerpkeeper 5 жыл бұрын
Aware of degloving. I find this to be the quickest and easiest way to pick them up and always transfer them to the palm of my hand. I just about never hold them for as long as I held that female softfur.

Hey! As someone who breeds rodents if you have any questions you’re welcome to shoot me messages anytime though it’s clear you do plenty of research! I just wanted to warn you that asfs do best in tanks as they are able to chew through any plastic on rodent racks!!! Lab bins can’t even contain them haha! Also! Although there’s anecdotal evidence about pine - the updated studies on pine indicate it’s much better and safer than carefresh due to ammonia regulation ! Pine kiln drying has updated over the past few years so it’s completely safe for our rodent buddies :) Anyway love your videos!!! Love your channel and adore your dedication to wanting to do right by them!!!

I keep birds of many types and breed them usually for zoos, but in rare occasions to other breeders. I have been feeding Mazuri products for decades. I have a mallard duck hen and a wood duck drake who have been fed Mazuri waterfowl food for their entire lives. They hatched out on the same day 20 years ago. They wouldn’t have survived this long if they weren’t fed a premium feed and if they did not have the great vet care they have. I feed all my birds both indoors and outdoors Mazuri feeds of the appropriate kinds. My birds have excellent plumage and are always in top health, which I put in large part to their diet.

Wow! This was SUPER informative AND entertaining! I just subbed. I was particularly fascinated with your mice and soft fur rats. I personally couldn't,t do that because I would get attached and become emotional... but I'd love to know more information about those and how you plan to feed the babies off. I was wondering if you feed live or if you euthanize them yourself? I've never seen anything like that before! Also, your leopard gecko is HUGE! Very cute :)
