So, I took one for the team and ordered a bunch of these viral pieces to try and give my honest feedback! We also discuss how the TikTok shop works, why it’s so cheap, and more.

Loved this one! And also, the $4 jacket with the "fake vented area"... Lululemon's NEW Define Jackets no longer have the vent! It's sewn shut! They made this change around Fall 2023. Price stayed the same, of course.

I honestly think tiktok shop is like QVC for teens because I was having a normal conversation with a girl who I consider smart and rational, and I asked about the accessories on her bag and she said she got them from tiktok shop.. and not only THAT but she was considering getting MORE. I didn’t know anything about that yet so it kind of worried me just because WE are aware of how some influencers “shill” for brands and might hate the product but still make a convincing video about it, but is she?? I think it’s is super attractive to that age group (teen through like 21) b/c it costs SO little and they spend SO much time on tiktok anyway, and hopefully they use discernment..

totally agreed! i think it’s the fact that my tiktok feed suddenly goes from a cute cat video to some sort of forced sales pitch is very aggressive and off putting !!

The thing about jumpsuits is that they are assuming a certain length of torso, and I think if your torso is shorter than what they made it for, or especially if it's longer, you're going to have issues with the fabric pulling and looking weird or feeling uncomfortable. Recently someone offered me three different jumpsuits that they had purchased but hadn't really felt were flattering on them so they were going to donate them. Only one of them was with adjustable straps, and that's the one I went with because the others were just so short for my long torso. Also on the issue of drop shipping, I don't like how they frequently will change the product you get. Take those two jackets for example. Because their name isn't actually on the product, and no one company actually stands behind the design of it, there's not a great amount of reliability that you're going to get the pictured product when you order it. This is an issue you find on many marketplaces. Drop shipped items CAN be good, but I've definitely reordered products before and noticed changes in the quality or style even though I'm ordering from the same listing. It kind of feels like rolling a dice, versus purchasing from an established brand with their own branded products.

Ooph. Several of the youtubers I follow are doing tiktok shop reviews. 😕 I just hope its not encouraging others to use it. There's a sense of scamming and too good to be true about the whole thing. How much personal info is being sold to subsidize this stuff?

I've never downloaded tiktok for very good reasons. You should investigate how much information you allow the Chinese to get when you agree to the terms. There's a reason why they are trying to get rid of it here in the states. Your personal information has been noted by them . But to each's own .

The threat is real and not any hogwash. The point is I don't use certain platforms for many different reasons. I don't mind missing out. I grew up when we didn't even have Internet. I'm 47 .

Didn't expect to see sinophobia in her comments but here we are. You should read what data/info KZfaq and other social media takes. Not to mention all the data breeches from banking apps/sites, social media app/sites, etc. can guarantee that if you have any internet footprint, your info/data has been collected and probably even sold to third parties. Tiktok isn't inherently worse just because it isn't a u.s. based company
