They're expensive but it makes sense, as a retired cake decorator I wish we got paid like this for our work. 10 years ago people were so cheap when it cames to cakes. They would never pay that much. I'm glad it's finally worth the work. But congrats Molly! 💖💖💖💖

Completely agree. I understand Roe is being dramatic for a viewer affect thing but she almost solely decorated cakes as part of her living in the beginning, she knows how much work goes into them, and especially in LA prices are going to be higher. And it's not like she can't afford these prices...

Another X cake decorator here. I can no longer do that or anything else in a professional kitchen because of permanent nerve and muscle damage. But even when I did wedding cakes and all kinds of stuff we didn't get that kind of money

Fully agree, there is a lot of labour going into those cakes. I do think that for $2000 they should have gotten the hair colour right. It’s nitpicky, but for 2g they should have gotten that right.

Even as a home baker, I cannot believe they put the cake on top of Styrofoam without a board! That is SO unsafe. People are definitely gonna be eating little pieces of styro, and that green styro is especially bad for you.

Yeah I audibly gasped at the looks of the second one until I looked at the topper which was very nice. If cake 1 had cake 2’s topper that would have been a perfect cake, IMO.

This is one of my favorite series because of how completely you decimate the cake to see how they made it lol. I like how the first one got the rocks that were in the picture whereas the rest didn't. Too bad molly couldn't have been there in person to see the cakes for herself since they were so impressive and dairy free, but I'm glad her birth went well!! 💗

Aside from the hair & the texture of the face I'd have to say #4 is my favorite. I'm sure a lot of hard work went into making that cake. The flavor sounds delicious and there is a lot of edible cake if you had a lot of guests in attendance.

I was surprised by the styrofoam. I thought placed sculpted with rice krispy treats. Is that a 90’s thing? Do places not do that anymore?

I do believe a lot of places still do that but I think it depends on how much time is given. I'm sure it's a lot faster and easier to just cut Styrofoam into the shape you need than it is to make the rice crispy treats and mold them into what you want. I'm not an expert though. I do know in the most recent try guys video they did realistic cakes and the professional talked about how he used rice crispy treats to help give the cakes their shapes.

In the video where Ro bought cakes of herself, the whole sculpture (it wasn't quite as big lol) was made of Styrofoam. She even said the exact same thing, that she thought it would be rice krispy treats.

I thought number 4 was the best. It looked the most like Molly except for the hair color. However, it was the only cake that was sloppy. I agree that the fondant was not smooth enough. The 3rd cake was buttercream, and it was so smooth. The first and second cakes weren't bad. As far as taste, I'm going with your reaction. Congratulations to Molly and her husband on the birth of Graham.

It looked like cake #4 was the best likeness of Molly's face (at least, from what I could see of the picture), and they seemed to do an amazing job on the cake itself, as well. Making a cake that large that was mostly cake had to be difficult, not just to maintain the structure, but also to have a cake that was just the right consistency to still be delicious (based on your reaction to the flavor). Impressive! Congratulations Molly (and family)!

I loved this video. The second and third ones were my favourite as I am not that keen on fondant like in the last one, and for that price point I'd expect a bit smoother of a result. Albeit taste wise it did look marvelous.
