Difficult to generalize differences, there are some sub-$100 IEMs that sound and are built better than some more expensive earphones. Typically more money pays for nicer build, more accessories, more expensive drivers like ESTs, better quality control, and especially more niche tuning. Cheaper IEMs commonly have issues with treble sharpness or bloomy bass. But it's a very vague generalization and not always true. In this specific case, I can compare Legacy 4 ($200) with the company's own Legacy 2. The Legacy 4 has two more balanced armature drivers than the Legacy 2, and the sound is generally more detailed, better layered, and overall more "technical." The Legacy 4 also has a built-in tuning switch that lets you slightly adjust the frequency response. Otherwise on the exterior, they're about the same apart from colors. And sound signatures are very similar.

I have been using the KZ zs10 pros for almost a year now thanks to your old video and they sound great, huge upgrade from the sennheisers I used to have. Now I'm looking at the thieaudio and a few other brands for another upgrade and have consistently come back to this legacy series. Because you have reviewed the zs10 pro specifically in the past, would you say that this would be a noticeable upgrade in quality. Setting aside the additonal cost completely, just in terms of sound and performance, what would be the biggest improvement. I have been going through some of the technical aspects of these two pairs but it's pretty nuanced, seems although the KZs have more balanced armatures, thieaudio uses the knowles driver which is superior? Sorry for all the amateur questions. I am also looking for something fairly light in weight and that was something I've identified with this legacy pair as well.

@@Emira_75 yeah I heard Bad Guy talk about them, but they'll be about $80, and in the legacy line the bigger the number the more high end. so I'm not sure if they will replace the L3. So I'm not sure if to wait for L2 reviews or if to just get the L3

I have been listening to the Legacy 4 more recently since comparing it with the Yume Midnight. I enjoy Legacy 4 more now than when I reviewed it. You're right that it's quite boring. But it's also very inoffensive, no irritating treble, decent DD bass, and it has amazing fit and comfort. So boring inoffensive sound + amazing comfort is actually a pretty decent combination.

Lots of ways to describe bass! Ultimately, it's... did you like it or not? And from there, lots of ways to describe.

That's the speed of the bass, "boom" is slow bass and "bang" is quick bass. However I won't say which one is better it really depends on how quick or how slow it is, also need to consider personal taste and music genres .

Of those, my favorites are Legacy 5, OH10, and FH3. OH10 for a bassy sound, Legacy 5 for a midrange sound, and FH3 for a sub-bassy neutral.

Not sure about Starsea, I haven't heard that one. Vs. FH3, I think L5 has a bit better treble quality and midrange resolution. Bass on FH3 is better IMO. I'd have to spend more time comparing to really know which I would prefer, that's tough, both are good.

FH3 has more bass quantity (too much for me) and more sharp and metallic treble. Good for 80s rock. Not for jazz with trombones ))

Can you elaborate on what aspects it's better for you?

@@ninjafrog8419 sure! L3 has more balance treble compare to L4, less upper midrange emphasis compare to L4, wider stage compare to L4. thinner and colder midrange compare to L3. L5 has the tonality that is just not my type, warm, meaty, and too laid back/dark compare to L3. L9 has too much mid bass, and overall tonal tonal balance is not just as good as L3.

The table looks like a formica surface, so it's unlikely to scratch anything. They are one of the least abrasive surfaces I can think of. Source: worked at a cabinet shop for many years.

Ha ha, sorry for the stress. If it helps, the concrete texture is just a vinyl wrap, not actual concrete.

FWIW, I've never scratched a product with the table. I think things are not as fragile as perhaps feared. Also, most of the sliding here, the ear pieces are resting on top of the roadie-wrapped cable, so it's just the cable sliding around.
