*This makes my old motor look like a toy **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it's well built. I haven't had it on the water yet, but I'm very sure it will perform just fine.*

Thanks for posting his how-to video...recently bought a used 2008 Bayliner that came with a Minn Kota Power Drive v2 trolling motor preinstalled. The Spot Lock feature makes this upgrade WELL worth it, and only takes about 10-20 minutes it to install. Disappointed however that Minn Kota discontinued the upgrade kit, they're difficult to find and quite expensive. If you look hard enough you can still find the upgrade kits from various online vendors.

I bought a new PD V2 50# bundled with I Pilot. Had to install it myself. If you don't have Co Pilot or Auto Pilot the install is very, very simple. I thought it would be a headache, but it was very easy and Minn Kota supplies everything you should need. Even some stuff I have no idea what it's for, large rubber washers and plugs??? No mention of them in the install guide.

Using a utility knife to trim the zip-ties that close to the cables is asking for trouble. Use the cable cutter on the needle nose pliers.

As usual, there's good news and bad news. First the good news. The install went just like the video described. Very clear instructions and everything is working fine. Now the bad news. The cheap bastards at Minn-Kota use mild steel plated screws to hold the side plates and top cover on. And of course, they rust. The top plate screws into plastic so the screws merely melted from rust there, that is those that did not snap off trying to get them out. That was not a problem because the old top plate gets tossed out anyway. The bottom base sideplate screws screw into the alloy base... with NO thread lube, anti-corrosion, or anti-electrolysis compound at all. I replaced everything with stainless and used anti-seize compound on the sideplate screws to fight electrolysis. Come on Minn-Kota, are you really that cheap?

Use a penetrating lubricant like liquid wrench before attempting to remove corroded screws...give the lube at least 10-15 minutes to break down the corrosion. When you install the new screws, apply a small amount of grease on them to prevent future seizing and corrosion.

Isn't there any way you and put the foot pedal electrically parallel with the I Pilot, and terminate the foot petal with a switch to deactivateIt when using the I pilot?

install a on off on switch to the red wires and connect the black wires together permanently. then you can switch back and forth to IPilot to foot pedal.

stuart Ortiz how do you do that if there is nothing left to plug the pedal into? There’s only one plug, right? You unplug the foot pedal and plug it into the i-Pilot. [i think]

Any way a switch could be installed to be able to use the remote and keep the foot pedal? If not a switch, is there another way?

I installed my Ipilot to my powerdrive V2 with copilot. I never used my foot pedal anyways, but now it doesn't turn meaning I can't go left or right or turn the head.

Mine won’t hold spot lock. As soon as I press the anchor button it just takes off at speed 10 to some random spot.

You should look at the pro nav angler system. A little more money but you can keep your foot pedal...

I just used this video today to convert a PowerDrive V2 to iPilot. Perhaps you should temper what you write with a little thought first.

I installed on riptide with co-pilot today. Didn’t mention to disconnect the side copilot and attach that wire. That’s about my only complaint on the video. If anyone is looking I found a place in Georgia that still has 3 in stock, I know it’s sold out everywhere. It’s at “thesportscenter” New i-Pilot for Riptide SP #1866315 product number for 450
