Dungeons of sundaria has local splitscreen and I play with my 5yo. I play the cleric which allows me to carry the fight and keep my kid alive. He can just run off and do whatever he wants and I can keep him topped off with the clerics healing and even a resurrection if he stands in fire. The itemization and loot is satisfying enough for an old veteran like me and also simply enough for him to understand. It's been a blast and I highly recommend for parents of young adventurers.

Love hearing Divinity II playing in the background, it's one of my favourite games that I enjoyed playing along with Kingdoms of Amalur. I usually replay them to the end every year. Not for nostalgia, but I just enjoy the gameplay and silly humour in both games.

Someone had pirated version Anima Gate of Memories on our common college ftp server. I tried it and I could immediately feel this was made with way small budget than most games. I appreciate the style they were going for. I think I got me closure on the game with this video.

Anima: Gate of Memories is based on spanish TTRPG Anima: Beyond Fantasy, with peak popularity around 2009-2010. The gameplay is pretty different (d100 with a lot of calculations) but the events in computer and tabletop games are in the same universe.

Hello again! Great video, as always. As always, I beg you to give Drakan: Order of the Flame and Crusaders of Might and Magic a try for this series! Drakan was a great, linear action/adventure game set in a medieval fantasy world. It stars a sassy female lead taking on dungeons and fighting all manner of enemies big and small with her partner, a dragon named Arok who you can ride and dogfight with against other dragons. Crusaders of Might and Magic is a similar linear action/adventure, a spinoff of the Might and Magic series. They’re both early-ish 3D PC adventure games that were great fun in their day!

Ultra Age is a great and underrated game. I got the platinum trophy on my ps4 and it was very fun. Another great Hack&Slay I would recommend would be Soulstice. It was released in 2022 but there's almost no one talking about it anymore.

Hey C4G, here's a game I've only ever heard one other person talk about. The game is called The Awakener: Forgotten Oath. It is a rogue-like Soulslike. It released just last year, and even tho it doesn't say it's in early access it seems like it is. It's a very stylish action game, but it feels unfinished.

I've been eyeing Dungeons of Sundaria since it came out. It's less than $5 on steam right now and you somehow convinced me to get it. i like the gameplay you showed.

Prvenstveno imaš 2 lika u dve paralelne kampanje, i ta dva lika kontrolišeš kroz potpuno različitu vrstu gejmpleja. Jedan od njih je ni manje ni više nego mladi Oktavijan Avgust, koji razgovorima i špijuniranjem istražuje atentat Gaja Julija Cezara. Drugi paralelni glavni lik je gladijator Agripa, koji ima sličnu sudbinu kao Maksim iz filma gladijator. Igra je dakle iz 2000ih, ali definitivno mislim da je vredna da se isproba ako nikad nisi!

The only one I played from this list was Daemonica. I don't remember how exactly I got the game, but I didn't play much. I played when I was like 10-12 or something and I didn't know english much yet lol so was unable to appreciate the story. Btw, I think I can recommend one for the next entry. I believe you haven't featured yet: Inquisitor. It plays like a very a janky Diablo clone, but it's very story heavy. I do like the game a bit, but I'm not sure I would recommend to anyone unless they are used to janky old games. Seems right up your alley, no? lmao

I finally able to get Sacred Gold in Widesceeen without Sacred Reborn mod and I'm so happy because its two times better than Sacred 2 (wich is one of my favorite arpgs), and the blend of pre rendered scenarios with 3d characters is so cool.

I love Anima and Ultra Age. Anima gave me Castlevania vibes and had many awesome bosses. Ultra Age was a short but really polished character action game.

Interesting selection of games, although I know quite a few titles, these are the ones I somehow missed. Two games even seem not too bad

the ANIMA game is kinda part of a whole franchise. WAY back in ... i think 2008 i think i stumpled upon a small skirmish Tabletop game called ANIMA TACTICS. The figures looked nice and they were easy to paint. The gameplay kinda felt like a Final Fantasy over the top battle and was kinda cool (and since it was a skirmisher you didn't need many minis). Then a card game came out "Anima: Shadows of Omega" where you got 3 anime like heroes traveling through a card based landscape, batteling monsters and doing quests. It was nice to see some of the characters from the Tabletop game in the card game as well. THEN a full blown TTRPG came out but the reviews were kinda... bad.

Have you heard of Inquisitor (2009)? It's an RPG from 2009 by Czech developers and it was in development for almost 10 years. It has an interesting setting and some good ideas, but i don't know if i would recommend it without reservation as (imo) the combat is bad despite it being a major part of the game.

Dungeons of sundaria is extra fun with others. I've done the split screen as well as Lan, the enemies HP go up with more people too.

A really old game that I still love is Pirates: The Legend of the Black Kat. I would still play it but my PS2 finally bricked.

You know i jnow of a few obscure RPGs that i played a lot growing up. Shadow of Rome and Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy come to mind after seeing your series. Sphinx is on steam thankfully, dunno about Shadow of Rome but you definitely should give those two a try one day, you might like them

Just thought of a few more. Sunken, Legends of Dawn Reborn and Wave of Darkness. I haven't played them and there's a dearth of reviews for them. The latter two have been received quite negatively on steam so it would be particurlarly interesting to see your opinion on one of them. They seem to be fairly similar in concept and execution. Edit: - No clue about Harbinger. The demo left a decent impression, but I had some graphics issues with it. - Personally I like Restricted Area, but it obviously is pretty weak on story and visual style. - Embers I didn't get along with and stopped after a few hours. It does things differently in terms of controls, which isn't to its advantage.

I remember that I loved Daemonica back in 2007, or whenever it was. Was surprised to see it in this video. Seems it is not very well known either. Remember loving the art on the box, back in Uni, and made it into like a poster cutout at the time. Dunno why, just did cause reasons.

There is one game I'd like to be covered but unfortunately I completely forgot its name. It's a mix of trading sim and story driven team RPG, based on slavic folklore (sort of), it uses slavic names and places. Main character is tasked by gods to stop some evil entity that commands army using instant death magic stones. You move around the map freely in 1st person, but combat is always turn-based with various attacks costing Action Points. Certain places sells some commodities and other places buys them, so you move around maps gaining coin by trading, then you buy stuff for your character. You also have some NPCs join you but their gear is fixed and cannot be changed. The combat is turn based and it looks like old Final Fantasy games - enemies and heroes are in 2 lines and they trade blows depending on character speed stat. Ranged chars can hide behind melee ones and can't be melee'd until first row is killed. The graphics were nice at the time but the main questionable thing was the camera controls in map roam mode, it wasn't locked to the mouse at all, you had to hold right mouse to look around or even rotate camera to turn. Last boss in the game was some Dark Crystal you get teleported to after some time travel shenanigans. If anybody know the title, I'd be grateful, unfortunately I don't remember the release date but it should be something 2005-2010. It was included in game magazines.

If you do another installment, I'd be super interested to see your thoughts on a game called Fate by Wildtangent. It's a relatively simple Diablo clone but it was my favorite game as a kid, it definitely deserves some love.

Ultra Age got released first on PS4 and Switch then after a year on PC. They pre-recorded all the voices with new cast for the PC version because it was big negative point they got from the reviews of the PS4/Switch version. So yeah, that's that.

I played anima on the switch because i just had finished Nier replicant and the talking book part seemed like it would scratch my need of more Nier, but Anima was pretty bad and boring and i dropped it after a couple of hours.

I've played Anima Gate of Memories and also Nameless Chronicles - also seen Ark of the Sinners on Wii... The worst metroidivania I've seen... You have to check out Nameless Chronicles - it's how the base game should've present itself, and is quite a good show, just to be honest. Even devs said that GoM has a lot of things that are just terrible and some of them should've been changed. . . Yet they couldn't due to some "tech limitations"... TBH GoM is crappy - jank controls, unpolished combat, balancing similar to TES 4 Oblivion ( power-fantasy yet everyone is as strong as you are... meh...). Story goes off on the endings and well... If you didn't saved on other slots or don't know that it's the last fight... Well, you've gotta play a new game+ with tougher enemies to match your strenght. There's even a special ending for defeating Red Lady before time's up and it's pretty funny one too, so I deep it as justified (new game+). But back on the topic - game, in such state, makes much more sense if we aproach it with devs quote "games are selling {"{unvierse and as a product (at least IMO)}"} better". It's doesn't present something new to TTRPG or Skirmish/card game fans - those already bought the books. So such game would be perfect to pique intrest of newcomers to Gaïa. Well, now Nameless got better in that, yet I hope that Song of the Abyss will amaze somebody enough to make a little dive into this funny world that I know. I played 100% of Gate of Memories and gotta tell that characters and their stories/interactions are top-notch tho' clichè at the begining. Yet being such a bog at the begining... No wonder "none" suffered more of a janky game to get a mid experience. Well, True Ending still claps tho'. My reverie of GoM is simply explained in what you'll feel whence playing Nameless Chronicles, which is jawdropping... Well, if we consider that Carlos is indepented dev capable of making B games at best (not A, AAA or AAAA). And, being a simple man of simple pleasures, I love laughing at this edginess - it is treated as a joke and so it is. Or I should've said that it knows when to get serious and when to sing horribly? Idk, just enjoy. I better end this before I'll write a book why you should have be amazed by man's creativity xD Even if you've just licked it and didn't digested it at all. Have a great day!
