@@FiodorTretyakov It isn't better and it doesn't hold that quality either. While Risen stands it's own ground, it has almost nothing that made previous Gothic 1 and 2 so special. It misses the point of what made them so great, and feels more like some holiday chore that PB had to do to show they were still good at making games (and they passed).

Personal preference. To me, Gothic 2 is a much better game (gameplay and story).

piranha bytes didnt want to add dragons to the game, but they asked players on a gothic forum what should they add to the sequel and everybody said dragons, so they did

I cant remember many RPGs, where I could face a dragon from 3d or 1st person perspective. Not from those times. But I like both games for different reasons. Gothic 2 have more layers and better balance throughout the game, Gothic 1 this great initial atmosphere which became a little weaker at the end. There is some middle stuff missing. But for me probably the best RPGs ever.

Sure g2 2002 and skyrim 2011 nearly 9 years later you should check your facts haha

I would love a sequel, as well as a remaster (Nightdive style) of the trilogy, too (much more than the remake which was in the works, though it could bring positive attention to the IP if done right)... But I don't realistically expect that to happen, mainly regarding remasters. It makes me sad that gaming preservation has been so neglected by the industry. The "new" shouldn't replace the "old", as it tends to happen, as both can _coexist_peacefully_ ... And I don't mean just games. Oh well, we're in dire need of luck, mate; that's a niche franchise and it is what it is.

Check out Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos. Amazing total world conversion mod. Completely new story and characters. Professionally executed by a slew of fans of the Gothic.

Damn man, you must have the ability to read my mind or something. Literally just a few minutes before you posted the comment, I was thinking about this topic in general. You're absolutely right. I try to focus my content around positivity in general, while still trying to acknowledge and, if necessary analyse the negative things about games/topics I cover, especially if it's review/retrospective format. Keeping that balance is very important to me. Although I never try to force anything, whether is positive or negative, I just talk about what I experienced. It's usually very easy to notice bad stuff about...well, even the most critically acknowledged games, right? Some of it can be highly subjective when it comes to game design in general, and even if your negative argument hold some weight, it can still mean very little to an average gamer who wants to play a fun game. And fun itself is probably the most subjective thing. People also need to realise that every review or a critique video, is just the opinion of one individual, even if that individual has millions of views and subscribers, it doesn't matter. It's still just 1 person. But unfortunately, a lot of those KZfaqrs are perceived as some sort of entities, rather than just 1 guy or a girl who happens to make videos about these topics. But the thing is, if I'm already doing a video about something, it usually means that I like what I'm covering, that's not a secret. Unless it's a new game, and I'm trying to make a review about it on the release date or something, there are some exceptions obviously. I find it highly toxic and unproductive to focus your content on the negativity. Even if you're 100% right and 99% of people agree with the stuff you said in your video. It's just not healthy to be in that state of mind man, and it eventually takes a toll on you. That's my philosophy at least. Sure, I have a couple of videos where I was more negative than positive, but I can count them on my one hand. There needs to be a very strong reason for me to make a video that's predominantly negative. When it comes to that, the best approach would be to make it into a meme, or a funny video in general. I'm not taking about some legit issues we have in gaming like loot boxes and mtx, that shit should always be called out. I'm mostly referring to game critiques and game related topics within the game itself. At the end, my goal is to entertain and inform people. Making what I want and not what I NEED is very important as well, if I want to try and have the best as possible content I can have on my channel. It's the only legitimate way to stay passionate about the content you're creating. Once again, thanks a lot for the comment man, it really made my day! :) Sorry for the rant, lol.

@@click4gameplay thanks for the reply, I just think it's fair to acknowledge the integrity of the work you create, as I believe you deserve to know this attitude doesn't go unnoticed; in fact, it's worthy of much respect. We can take something good out of virtually anything, even when we think the object of analysis itself is bad. Maybe a good idea buried somewhere which shouldn't be forgotten, maybe learning something out of the bad aspects themselves (how to improve them, for example). That's what's so compelling in channels such as yours: you're not only taking the time to analyze the negative aspects, but also to build something with your criticism on them. This approach shows that effort and forward-thinking went into the reviewing process. The popular _angry adult men yelling_ format merely "describes" (for the most part inaccurately) something through shock value. This isn't constructive in any way... It's simply empty, meaningless. Anyways, it's good to know that the comment made you glad, however you have only yourself to thank for that, as I was just giving feedback; that's the result of your own hard, passionate work, and I thank you for sharing it with us. Hey man, I played a couple of months ago, its a bit rough at the start, because its pretty old and janky, but once you get, you will fall in love. I played gothic 2. I also have to mention that there is a mod that make an prequel of gothic 1, it called chronicles of myrtana, this thing is a MASTERPIECE, I also dare to say that is even better than the gothic 1 and 2, or at least on the same level.

If you really new to the series , you can start with Gothic 2 gold and then back to Gothic 1 Gothic 1 has weird control scheme that turn many people off also English version has come cut content which require some modding to restore and don't forget 4gb patches or it will crash a lot on modern PC
