While I'm not encouraging anyone to quit a job impulsively, I wanted to share some positive motivation for those feeling stuck in a rut or disillusioned by their career path. Life begins when you leave your comfort zone and sometimes all you need is a little push to give you the confidence to take a leap of faith. Remember: you are capable of so much more than you think.

I quit my job in the middle of the corona crisis and TWO MONTHS later I make a living of my own business! 😃 It is crazy how we stay in situations out of fear when something so much better is waiting for us on the other side!

There is nothing so demoralizing as waking up on Monday morning and realizing that you had a full night's sleep the night before and yet you're drained already because you know that you have to go into work. My worst ever job experience involved a two and a half hour commute (total of FIVE HOURS a day commuting). Those were the worst six months of my life. One Friday I came into work and they shuffled us all into the conference room and then told us all that the entire department was being shut down so none of us needed to come into work next Monday. I threw both my arms into the air and shouted "YES!" so loudly that the HR person spilled her coffee all over the table. Everyone thought I had lost my mind LOL I didn't have practically any savings, I was going to have to depend on unemployment insurance until I found another job, I didn't have a credit card at that point to tide me over, I had no plan B, nothing...but **I didn't care!** At last, I was free of that place, and that's all that mattered! I went to my desk, picked up my phone and the charger, I walked out of that damn office and I never looked back! That was when I swore that I would never ever ever ever be in that kind of job or in that kind of situation again. And (touch wood) I never have been.

I just quit my job of eight years yesterday. I was tired of coming to work, and having my coworkers belittle me every day.. so I just walked out without notice. After I quit, I got home and searched for opportunities on Indeed, and now I have an interview for an apprentice job in a trade. To say I'm not nervous would be a lie, but I feel so confident that I'll pull through and life WILL get better. Thanks for your video, it gave me some much needed positivity.

Honestly, the happiest moments for me was when I was unemployed. Whenever those periods end, thats when the depression and feeling like a prisoner begins. That's why I believe in seasonal work. To hell with working at a corporation for 20 years. I wanna enjoy life damn it and see the world and experience things for myself.

I retired early from a well paying job with the State....I was making 90k a year with excellent benefits and retirement, but the job was so toxic and unhealthy (mentally and physically) I had to get out. I now work part time at a low stress much simpler job, and I am so much happier and healthier it was well worth it.

I quit my professional job as an architect and to be honest I feel so good. The best part of quitting is that I do not have to deal with horrible bosses who are mentals and I can hang out with whoever I want. I can also spend time on my true passion which is portrait drawing. I do not regret it! off course, I have enough saving and I'm not materialistic.

Without risk, there is no reward. She really does have powerful points. I left a job because our customer base was far too abrasive and my health was number one. I found that when I exercised, remained energized and happy, they would get upset and were far too negative. I gave them about 1 1/2 years to adjust and with perfect clarity realized I deserved a job less toxic as the only one who changed was myself. Now I have a position where I am cared for, the work load is manageable, and filled with opportunity. When you discover yourself in these aspects, that dream job is just moments away.

+MakeupBae Lici I don't deny this, I'm just saying it's not a realistic situation for many. Some people are stuck in their jobs even if they have other passions because they literally have to. They have disabilities or families to feed. Someone living in New York who has an already established audience can make a video about following your passion but a struggling artist working a retail job in a small town with possibly no higher education... Just can't. You need access to opportunities and the luxury of staying alive if your adventures fail. Not everyone has that. Some people would literally end up on the streets they fail. Some people can't even try because their families can't afford to survive even a few days without income

I'm quitting a job I loved for 3+ years. Going from dedicated workaholic, to burnt out employee, to higher up, to reinvigorated workaholic, to victim of company outsourcing, to just another call center agent, to suicidal thoughts over lack of mobility, to realization that satellite cable is a dying industry on life support as everything's moving to streaming, I put in my 2 weeks and am now on my last day of work today. I don't have a plan, for the first time in nearly 3+ years I'm gonna be without a job for a while and it terrifies me, at 23 years old I find myself trying to be optimistic that there is something more. I don't have much in responsibilities outside of paying for a car and helping my parents with bills, but I know that if I were to stay on at the job that I've seen so many once friends come and go from, it would truly kill me. Wish me luck internet, and I hope that wherever you are, that you have an amazing day

Great video.I quit my job last week and it’s good to know that there are more people like me out there😊. I had a good salary and an executive position but I was feeling like I was not enjoying life properly. I felt like I was a robot every morning and I was never excited about going to work. It’s a big decision and a scary one but I had to quit before it was to late. I’m scared about my future but excited at the same time.

Lis Lourenco ... I just came back from my last day at work. Now laying on my bed with mixed emotions, reminiscing both good and bad old days. It's my first job and I stick with it for 6 years. Had a senior position behind a monitor solving problems from 8 to 5 every day except for Sundays and alternate Saturdays. Now I got all the "me" time I've thirst for.

Knock-knock, Who's there? I believe this mixed emotions are normal in the beginning but will get better as time passes. In my case it was not only leaving a job, but a country as well.. and I had to deal with many emotions. I admire you having the courage to do this in your first job. It took me almost 14 years to make a significant change like this.. I wish you good luck and that you can find this life change an exciting one.

great video, but touching on having the financial security or a savings built up would have been the first topic to touch on. Someone up and quitting their job to travel or do something new sounds great...but where is the money to travel coming from? Are your bills paid? Being a mature adult requires you to make some sacrifices in order to achieve what you want...but beng unable to pay bills should not be one of them.

Thank you! I actually touched on some of those not-so-fun real life factors in my blog post (link in info box). You're completely correct-- I just decided for this video I wanted to focus on encouraging confidence. There are so many people (at one point myself included) who won't even consider taking a leap of faith or a making a change in their careers out of fear of failing or being judged by others. Sometimes you just need a little push to realize you're capable of achieving more than you think.

Cristina Yvette Sorry, I’m two years late to this party as I’ve only just come back to my hometown. My job was literally killing me from the inside out. I quit one day, I literally walked out. Was on a removals job and the guy on the job with me was giving me a hard time as he had been with the bosses firm for 16 years, from the start. I literally threw the van keys at his face (he couldn’t drive) and walked, got a taxi home and never looked back. I knew I wanted to do something else but wasn’t sure exactly what to do because I’d fallen into the paycheque-put, a trap. I just knew I needed to get away from my town, from my country if possible and away from everything and everybody that I knew. I found this......Check this guy out: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iJ2moKt4ptnMmWw.html I did and a few years ago I did exactly what he did. I had less than £1000, it was enough to get me a flight from here in the U.K. to Turkey but that was it, had about £400 left after paying for the flight and a few nights in a crap hotel but that didn’t last long. I was scared as hell about what to do, did I go for it and start walking or did I get a flight home with my remaining money and figure things out back there? So what did I do? I found out which way I should start walking if I wanted to get to Iran and I then I walked and kept going around the world for the few years I’ve been gone. Soooo I walked , hitched rides, worked where I could get it, used the couchsurfer app to get a roof over my head from place to place with fellow couchers, I used a tent now and then, I worked on farms in South America, as a labourer on mining operations in the Northern Territory in Australia, I even blagged an unmanned cabin space on a cargo ship from Australia to China for which I worked for nothing save the cabin space and my food etc (though I did get a cheeky months pay because the lads on the ship had spoken to their bosses at the shipping Company about it, they even did a story about it in the company paper about the whole thing), I have done ALL sorts the last few years and now I’m finally home back in my old hometown on the south coast of the U.K.. I’m in the process of writing a book about the last few years, I had a camera with me (which was sometimes awkward to get charged up, should’ve taken an old mechanical 35mm film one really) and I have literally hundreds of thousands of images that I uploaded to the cloud that I’ll also be using in said book, maybe an exhibition and my upcoming blog. I’m 37, been home a month or so now and I’m at my parents and guess what, I don’t even care what people think. I’ll get a stop gap job to tide me over or even something part time whilst I pursue what I actually want to do because that experience, that few years away literally roaming the world helped me find out who I really was and what I am meant to be doing. You have one life, please live it your way and don’t let fear put the last nail in your coffin when you leave the world. Life’s too short.

Hi Katie, Well done Bravo and I believe Starting Your Own Business and Being Your Own Boss!!! Its The Best Decision You can Make!!! Nowadays Being Employed is Very Risky!!! As Your Immediate Manager or Superior is your one and only Customer!! and if you do not keep him or her satisfied you will be replaced!!! I know I have experienced being made redundant or I have been let go !! I had nothing to fall back on!!! I had no Plan B!!! I was in debt and I then started to read books and listen to Audio CDs on becoming an "Entrepreneur". Then I took the next step and picked the brains of successful entrepreneurs and slowly and gradually I came to the Realisation that to both Surive and Thrive in an Economic Society. I have to control my own Destiny!!! Theres a Famous Quote that a Sales Coach,Mentor,Trainer and Entrepreneur Once Said to me "You can Either Be the Star of Your Own Movie or Bit Part Extra in Someone Elses!" Which would you rather be!!! I have now started my own freelance management consulting business!!! and I will be launching other businesses in due course!!!

Wise words lovely! I felt really unfulfilled in my old corporate job in finance and had so much anxiety with my boss that I decided to go part-time somewhere else. For me that was pretty scary as it meant I'd be earning half my usual income. But that enabled me in turn to double my income in my business and eventually pursue that full-time. I think when starting out if we can cover our bills, expenses and save a tiny bit that's what matters, while we build our dreams and go for it. xx

Amazing video!!!!! I see a lot of people saying this video is "unrealistic" or "not relatable" but I believe it depends on where you put your personal priorities and that is it important make smart decisions about your plan B after you quit (Which I think is what you meant and some people didn't understand)... I found this so inspirational and your advice is very grounded and genuine. Thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you for making this video. I quit my job about 3 years ago to take care of my health and I am still working on it. I worked myself to a point where I couldn't work anymore and that did not feel right at all. I have worked for about 17 years so not working is something I still struggle to come to terms with. I hope to get back in better shape health-wise and find something that I can do keeping my likes and needs in mind. It felt really good to listen to someone say that it is okay to quit your job to take care of yourself. Part of it is me accepting the fact that I made the decision for my own good and to make the most of this time and opportunity that I have. I enjoy cooking and trying out new foods. One of the things that i have been doing is trying out new recipes and sharing them and some of my traditional recipes on a Facebook food group and I am quite enjoying this experience. I am also going back to some of my hobbies like crafting. I have taken up adult coloring and am trying to get into the habit of reading. Fun and fulfilling stuff. Cheers to taking care of yourself the way only you can :)

Aww Katie I wish you the best!! You were the reason I fell in love with NYC, fashion, PR, and beauty before I moved to the city myself. Now I'm in college following my passion, but I always see the city in the lens of what it would be like to work hard in PR like you have done. Now that you're thinking of entrepreneurship perhaps, I'm so excited for your new journey :) You really understand what it's like to act on change and go after your real truth.

All fine and dandy. Unless you have a wife and kids relying 100% on your income and healthcare plan that that job you hate provides. Part of being an adult is realizing that it's not all about you anymore. Look for a better position while at the one you hate and go from there. Most people can't just quit their job because they want to.

No disrespect, but I don't agree. Yes, don't just go and quit a job you dot like. Now, if it's just one person, not supporting a family, then its a whole lot easier. There is so much opportunity when it comes to careers, this is a America, we have the ability to choose who we want to be, to be happy, while at the same time to be able to support ourselves. Its a blessing

I'm just a teen in uni still but I'm quiting my crazy part time job on monday or I'm considering just not showing up to my next shift to get fired. My manager is nuts or something she knows I am a full time university student (taking 5 classes and labs too) and is mad with me right now bc I only work 3 days a week then she got mad at me on my last shift bc that day she kept texted me and calling me while I was in class bc she wanted me to start 2 hours later and I told her no for the first time and it felt great. oh my gosh for a minimum wage job this is insane I'm not on call and I'm sick of getting calls at 6am asking me if I can work OR to cancel my shift like bro wtf thankfully I'm starting a full time job for this summer that pays really good and will actually look good on my resume

I so wish I could just go ahead and quit my job tomorrow. Everything about this office job of mine gives me anxiety and I dread every monday morning and sunday night. I feel how it affects my already fragile mental health but the thought of being broke again.. having no money is what’s making me wake up every morning and drag myself to that 9-5.30 :( i am contemplating to quit tho every single waking day and all i can think off is just find something different. It is a very tough situation.

Hi! Nice story to listen to. I relate so well, though I’m a bit older, I left my corporate job to travel the world too. I hated my job. Now, I’m living in different countries and I get so much energy from it. My videos on KZfaq are about how to adjust abroad, how to make friends and not be homesick when traveling alone. I love this life and want to inspire others. I wish to grow my KZfaq channel and get more subscribers while I post consistent videos. I’m definitely subscribing to yours now. How did you grow your channel, and how are you doing financially? Thanks Happy journey

Sounds great to quit your full time job & go travelling & stuff but, How do you pay your rent/bills/pay for food or even have the money to go travelling with no income? You're not entitled to any help or income support if you quit your job.

I quit my first job cuz I had bad management. I recently had this co worker who treated me trash by being racist. I told my manager this and he didn’t do nothing he said to me “deal with it”. And the next day it was worst my co worker has putting blames on me for not doing job. All she did was taking breaks, tell customers that I did this. One final thing my manager screwed up my schedule made me skipped school 2 times. So I’ve decided to quit. Oh and also they didn’t give me proper training at all

congratulations. I hope it works out nicely for you in the future. But I want to let you know Entrepreneurship is a lonely journey, and I am speaking from experience. After 2 and a half years of leaving my corporate job, I'm looking to get back into the workforce. The reason for this is because of the professional connections built in a work environment is better as they can see your determination and hardworking nature. If you are on holiday and you want to chat business with people you have just met, they might not want to see you again ( people are on holiday and they don't want to discuss business). Being an entrepreneur is a great thing, glad you got the chance to share that with us.

25 or 30 years ago, it was very easy to just up & quit a job. There was always something else out there. Today, not really. I 've been working at the same job for 21 years now, and every time I go in, I have to fight the overwhelming temptation to just get up, say "FUCK IT", and quit! But I have people who rely on me for financial support. Quitting your job is just not as easy as it was back then!
