I almost never leave comments on anything but I just wanted you to know how impactful your story is. For someone who is where you were three years ago, I could relate to EVERY item on your list. Keep doing what you love because you are right - you were meant to do this and even if it is difficult at times you are fulfilling your calling and inspiring people like me who are still in that dark place and looking for the courage to follow my intuition

I feel much of this. Instead of anger and jealousy, I feel inspired when I see others making a sustainable living doing what they love. Since 2010, I have taught myself photography, how to sew, I have earned a bachelor's then an MBA, got a good job in HR, like I planned. But I am overworked, stressed out, and anxious with my HR job. I dream of a creative career and being self-employed. So I have been setting myself up to open an Etsy shop making baby goods. And I also plan to rebrand my photography business... hopefully by the end of this year.

I’ve worked in corporate America since the 80’s, back then it was the type of job to have because of stability, pay, and benefits. Somewhere around the mid 2000’s I noticed a shift, companies started losing loyalty to their employees and let them know just how dispensable they are. After going through a lay off and trying a lesser paying job, I went back to corporate America, in a healthcare profession. Thank goodness I’m retiring next year! Corporate America is so bad these days, toxic management, micromanaging, favoritism, backstabbing, and to top it off I work with patients settling their hospital bills, and over 50% are hateful, condescending, mean, and often resort to name calling. I’m counting down the days I can put this job behind me. It has definitely prepared me for a future venture as I plan to work a part time side hustle in retirement. I enjoy work, but I want to enjoy what I do, not constantly look at the lock all day until I can get off work. I enjoy watching videos like these where people leave their job, and focus on themselves.

I talked to a Lyft driver and he said something similar. He said he noticed a change in the 90’s. My mom started tech in the early 2000’s at 24 and said it got worse as time went on. I started two months shy of turning 23 and constantly feel like I’m suffocating. When I tell her about stuff I encounter, she said it’s much different to how she was treated just starting in her career. Idk, she feels that younger people are being treated much harsher now and that the expectations are even worse for someone who is less experienced. Of course, that’s how it is for majority of people no matter what age. I’m 25 now and have considered maybe becoming a massage therapist instead. I’m not sure, yet. I’m just not able to kiss ass very well, haha.

I 100% agree and as a result, I quit my job and the country that I live and work in. I didn't want to apply for another job and DIDN'T. The thought of running out of my current job into another potentially uncomfortable environment filled me with dread. I have a matter of weeks before I leave and go on a productive health sabbatical to try and make my dreams work. If all else fails, we can always go back to working for someone ~ but on our terms. Good luck.

Love this video. Describes everything exactly how I feel. I also work in sales so I find that in corporate many sales people cheat and management will always turn a blind eye on it as it makes them money and helps hitting targets. Those who are not so lucky and not cheat don't make their targets and then are put on even extra pressure. The whole system is just so bad.

I have been in strong consideration of leaving my job for several months now and that voice inside has continued to grow stronger. I lost my father in August of 2023 and loss like that has instantly made me want to simplify my life and/or replace everything that doesn't serve me. I came across this video yesterday and believe it is the last catalyst I needed to make the jump. No concrete plan, but a whole lot of faith in who I am and what I bring in value wherever I go. I can relate. Is why I am studying to translate and interpret in 3 languages , starting content creation soon, maybe real estate and getting my accounting degree to start my own practice. Working at these places and orientations, etc are all just plain boring and rediculous. Making low pay and doing things you dont care about feels like death . I say if you can take a leap of faith and listen to that voice just do it. Its the life you have to live so do what you want,.

Your vulnerability, courage, and transparency is so inspiring. You articulated so clearly what I’ve been feeling but have been afraid to admit to myself. The part about needing extreme forms of escapism (vacations! Grandiose dates!) hit me like a bus. I know this isn’t me. I’m not this resentful, ungrateful person I fear I’m becoming. I know I’ll be coming back to this video in the year to come. Thank you for the push towards a more authentic way of living.

I work in a high paid (for me) about £85k. I’m considered very good at what I do even though I consider myself barely adequate. It’s corporate consulting and high pressure. The only reason I can think of is I’ve built up over the years ways of coping with stress and burnout (having dealt with it badly in the past). If you’re competent and resilient and can weather the strain you’ll do well. You don’t need to be the best or best everyone around you. Dealing with people and personalities is key. I do however find myself unfulfilled but doubtful I can find a job that will give me a huge leap forward I would want.
@ifycadeau
@ifycadeau 12 күн бұрын
Hit the nail on the head with the "people and personalities" 😂 it's a lot of politics and mental gymnastics haha which I find distracting from the work or impact that can be made by every employee. Whether it's through corporate or even a side thing, I think that type of job exists for you!!

What’s crazy about corporate America is the fact that most the managers I met are constantly stressed if the company was going to uproot them and almost force them to sell their house to make the same pay for another position or get demoted. Most folks were renting just because of the amount of times this has happened lol. Job stability in pay maybe 😂. Not to mention changes in leadership of the CEO and DEI took off and was sort of divisive to a lot of work flows during the Covid era.
