one thing i hated was the fact that people always say conrad’s mom is dying like it’s not jeremiah’s mom too. he asked conrad several times if something was wrong with susannah and all he did was keep jere in the dark. LIKE WTF

I know Miss Belly was having her Hot Girl Summer but first of all JUSTICE FOR CAM CAMERON. Okay so, I knew from the very beginning that she was gonna end up with Conrad (I didn't have to read the book to know this). It felt like a "hurry up and get to the point" because the whole time I was just waiting for her to end up with him. THEN the fact that Conrad had a whole ass girl he was seeing and Belly still trying to be all friendly with Nicole felt really off to me, it made it hard for me to like the main character and feel some kind of connection with her. Then the fact that she ended up kissing AND letting Jeremiah cop a feel and STILL ended up being with Conrad by the end of the show and we don't even see how this affected Jeremiah???? Like, y'all some shady ass people for doing all of that. Like, I understand being unsure and all that but Belly, babe...you gotta do better. Plus Conrad gives off emotional manipulator vibessss. And Shayla, baby girl, you need to run as far as away as you can from Steven. The fact that the very first moment he felt "insecure" in the relationship he ran off and made out with Belly's friend??? And wasn't even going to tell her AFTER the fact until Belly said something?? JAIL. Like what the freak? AND THEN he's over here gambling all his money away just to fit in with the rich kids?? RED FLAG RED FLAG RED FLAG. I loved and hated this show, I stayed for Jeremiah and Cam Cameron.

I definitely agree with some of the points Imurgency brought up! But, I do wish shows would start understanding and realizing that women/men/people can be attractive with glasses and braces and why does removing them suddenly make them “pretty”.

They should have not let Belly and Conrad kiss on the last episode. They should have left it as a confession if they want, but make it bitter-sweet, like bread crumbs for the future season.

Honestly, what I don't like about this show (and a lot of other romance shows and books) is that the main character always ends up with their first love no matter how awful they are together. Conrad only really took notice of belly when she had her 'glow up' . And this might just be me but I don't think Belly was ever actually in love with Conrad. I feel like she idolised him because he was the oldest person in the group and after that she kind of just fell for the idea of him. Might just be how I perceived though.

I think that I would like Conrad’s character more if his broodiness and misery wasn't so emphasized or as forced. I remember a scene in this show where he was chucking corn angrily and I was like wth, who’s sad when they're chucking corn? Everytime he appeared on my screen, he was always frowning or dramatically staring at Belly from across the room, and I was just over it. I do feel bad for him, and I think the reason he falls a little flat is that there is no narration of Belly’s thoughts like there is in the book. When she's staring at him in the show, the audience sees just that. (and we see it over and over again throughout the series) In the book, it's more focused on what she's feeling for him in that specific moment. I digress. What I'm really trying to say is that people like you and I just aren't here for his negativity. (especially when it's not presented with comedy or sarcasm) Because Conrad is ALWAYS seen as this miserable guy, his random jokes and smiles feel completely out of character. I was watching this show with my cousin and when he finally came around (started being tolerable to Belly and cracking jokes) by episode four, we were just more confused than anything. I was like, “Cool, I'm glad that you're happy, but I've had so many happy scenes of Jeremiah; it's a little late for you to completely switch up now.

As someone who read the books and likes Jere more it's nice to see someone else bring up all the reasons why I think Jere is the better choice. That said, I'm not team Jere, but really it's just because I know Belly doesn't like him like that. Not team Conrad either for the same reasons you said. I feel like a lot of team Conrad people get hung up on all the things he did. I mean they were cute but nothing crazy. Also, he shouldn't get a pass for playing with her feelings because he's going through something hard. Yeah Jeremiah was a bit cringy and did some petty things to get between Conrad and Belly. what really made me sad was that deep down cam cameron knew belly liked conrad. I hated how she just dragged her and cameron's relationship, there were points in the plot were she was thinking about conrad and seeing him but had no consideration about cameron until someone reminded her. I was suprised by how much I liked it too because I expected same old same old cheesy teen drama wattpad realness which is somewhat what it is but I think I was taken away by the fun summery vibes, the character's personalities, how they interacted with eachother, and their strong friendship family bonds. What I disliked was 1. the way belly led Cam cameron (loved him!) and jeremiah (loved him as well! Even though he acted and looked like a sway house or hype house tiktok fboy sometimes😭) whenever Conrad wouldn't give her the time of day y'know? Like why would you pursue other relationships when you KNOW you're still hooked up on your bestfriend you've known for years??!! And 2. I hated how much they felt the need to emphasize how Conrad and Belly were soulmates especially with the moms like Susannah saying how she knew belly was meant to be with one of her sons since like her birth??! or how laurel said Conrad is like the sun that Belly orbits LIKE DANG i get it!! It's like I didn't have a choice but to ship them y'know? Like I wanted them to get together so everyone would shut up about it and they would stop leading people like Cam and Nicole on further. I like Jeremiah's character a lot mostly because I think I first viewed him as a lovable fun flirty supportive bestfriend for belly and nothing else more in the beginning. I was suprised when he started to show obvious signs of jealously. But I still ship Belly with Conrad because I think it would be unfair to ship Jer with someone who considers and treats him as a second choice. It would be terrible for Belly to like Conrad for so many years then switch up and settle for his brother. I also thought that Jeremeiah and Steven had more chemistry and I almost thought they might experiment in that area LMAO.

The show is so wholesome, simple and picturesque compared to most teen shows these days (often supernatural or murder related). It reminds me of Dawson's Creek and Gilmore Girls. So sweet and idealistic, even if it's not perfect.

I think Minnie was the best actor on the show. Acting is not only over dramatic scenes. It is nuance and the ability to show a range of emotions. I saw it in Minnie’s face. Anyone can use fake tears to do a crying scene. I feel Minnie will go on to do bigger things.

I was Team Jeremiah. I read the books and hated what Jenny Han did to Jeremiah in the last book but even then it didn’t seem like something Jeremiah would do and even then I was Team Jeremiah. The second book where we hear things from his perspective. He was just so much more emotionally available than Conrad. In contrast to what others said, I did see that Jeremiah liked Belly before episode 5 of the show. He was clearly jealous of Cam and only came around to liking him once he got to know him and see how well he was treating Belly. He was there for her the entire time Conrad was hot and cold and treated her like shit. Jeremiah was SO FUN, always in a good mood and cheering Belly up and healthy in how he told Belly he liked her and then waited for her to come to him (“ I would like to eventually talk about what happened the other night”). You could also see that Jeremiah liked Belly when Taylor said that it was time Belly looked at someone else and not Conrad and the look on his face gave it away that he liked her. I did not like the ending of the show. It seemed sudden and I was so so Team Jeremiah by the end of the show that I didn’t like belly ending up with Conrad. Also, the actor that plays Jeremiah is so charming that it is really hard not to root for him.

So basically there’s a difference in the books. They changed some things. In the show I am 100% team Jeremiah but in the books, I’m team Conrad. They just switched the characters a bit and it made it different. I liked what they did though bc Jere’s character in the show is just perfection

Loved the show, I'm team Conrad personally 🤭 loved how Nicole called Belly out lol Belly needs to realize she's playing with alot of hearts. Ngl Belly was the most frustrating character for me lol but then I started thinking back to 16 year old me and I really started to love her. Belly was selfish at times, like how she kissed Jeremiah right after Conrad rejected her and how she never told Nicole that Conrad almost kissed her even tho she KNEW Nicole liked him 🥲 Nicole found out the hard way. I'm just glad Belly admitted to being selfish in ep 7 and hope she develops more as a character next season. I wanna see her show self restraint when it comes to Conrad and Jeremiah, ya know? See her be more accountable and less selfish. I loved Steven despite being a jerk 🤣 I actually loved how protective he was of Belly. I guess my point is that you gotta remember that these are TEENS, they're gonna make questionable choices like you did when you were a teen lol

I honestly really liked this series, like A LOT. I'm team Jeremiah for sure, but we all know she's to choose Conrad. I liked his mysterious vibe at first, but then it just because boring and dry. As for the brother, he pisses me off too! Like why did he care so much about Belly's love life. It was far more than protective, which I felt was quite weird. I loved the mom's, and how they had differences yet were so close was so cute! When I'm older I want to have a friend like Susanna. Belly's friend Taylor, made me mad at sometimes but nothing compares to Belly's new friends. Leaving them there without clothes or a car? Hell no. Not to mention, Belly didn't even know Conrad texted her. I can't believe Belly apologized to Nichole. Oh and Cam Cameron, such a kind soul. I felt so bad for him because you could see how his character really liked Belly. Anyways, my only other thing that I must talk about is how Belly only got "pretty" once she didn't have braces, glasses, short hair, etc. As a person who has braces, it's sad to see a show portray that when you have that "unpretty" thing! I wish they would've used something else, but maybe that's just me. Thank you sm for reading this!!

okay i haven’t finsihed this video yet but i love your thoughts so far. i think sort of the reason why that steven experiencing racism plotline was not developed was because it wasn’t in the book and so they really kinda had to finesse it. i really liked how jenny added some commentary on being asian and i really hope that gets fleshed out more, as you pointed out-it was definitely a missed opportunity!! as for belly and jere, one of my favorite things about the books (i’ve read all three) is the pacing. like belly doesn’t even LOOK at jere until the second book. So for jenny to speed up the process of thier relatioship was definitely a bold choice that’s gonna result in a LOT of changes to the second season so idk apart of me wishes she would have stayed a bit more true to the book but the show is great nonethless. so that’s why everything was messy (i think) cause the love triangle was suppose to be cam and conrad first and then jere😭 and i am a conrad stan so i’m definitely biased but he has a lot more depth than the “broody, moody” love interest, he’s actually a big nerd and matures a lot in the seires. i liked how they show put in emphasis on the tole keeping this secret was for his mental health cause it’s definitely a huge reason why he’s acting the way he is (even tho that doesn’t excuse it!!) at the end of the series it’s obvious that conrad just wants belly to be happy and i really liked that. he (imo) proves to be the more emotionally mature one, believe it or not, and jere just has a lot more growing up to do Chris briney said in an interview that he thinks one word to describe conrad is misunderstood and i think that’s rlly true!! he definitely makes mistakes and kissing belly (as much as i loved it) was not the move 😭 but i’m really excited to see how they develop Also i LOVE that jere is bi, i hope they explore that a lot more in season two. he is very much tho giving frat boy (and in the third book he literally is💀) so i find him annoying or just rlly corny at times😭 i guess most of my frustrations with the show come form the fact that if they stayed just a bit more true to the book than i feel like less messy-ness with belly and the boys would have happened but i digress some of the changes (like Lorel getting a whole plot line) we’re rlly good!! overall, i’m glad you liked the show and that so many people are loving it😌

not going to lie sometimes this happens, you can be seen as "ugly" but when you make small changes and people see your body develop, they actually treat you different. I've personally dealt with that in high school, it's very weird.

I swear that scene with Steven yelling at Belly about hair and the drain and threatening to leave it on her pillow is so relatable because my mom did that to me one time. She literally entered my room and threw hair on me because of her annoyance of having my hair in the drain. I understood that. But other than that, I did get annoyed with Steven in the book and felt they made him a little better in the show. Team Cam/Belly and team Belly/Jeremiah baby. While I loved how they improved Conrad and gave him more depth, I really hated him with Belly. Super toxic. He was such a jerk to her and only confessed his feelings when she was with someone else, even his brother. Jeez.

Can't explain how much I am in love with this show!! I just watched the show, cuz im bored and all of my shows are ending, and I can say without a DOUBT that I am team Jeremiah. The second I saw Jeremiah after Belly got out of that car (even before ik which one was Jere and which one was Conrad) I was just drawn to Jere. And the more I watched, the more I loved Jere (which broke my heart cuz i just knew that she was gonna end up wit Conrad🤦🏽‍♀) Like i get that he was going through some shit, but he was still just such an asshole, while Jere was always so nice to Belly. Like at the bonfire when he was the only one who welcomed her. And some people said that Jere's crush on Belly seemed random, but not for me, I could tell early on that he had a crush on Belly, and also, when he admitted it to her in the pool, he confirmed that he had a crush on her for a while, not just this summer, cuz he said that "There was Conrad and then THIS SUMMER it was Cam" meaning before this summer, he liked her. He didn't just start to like her after her glow-up, whereas Conrad basically admitted to Cleveland that he didn't start thinking of Belly that way until recently "To me, she was just this little girl, now she's not" obviously referring to her glowup. Like whenever Cam would be in front of her and she just continued to pin for Conrad, even tho he had been nothing but an asshole to her, it just made me so angry. Plus, let's not forget how BADLY Conrad treated Nicole. Like yes, Belly also kinda led Cam on, but at least she almost immediately broke it off with him after her and Conrad had a moment, but meanwhile Conrad was still leading on Nicole, and it only ended after Nicole saw Conrad's text to Belly saying how he really wanted to take her to the deb ball. Like Taylor said it the best, Conrad is cute and mysterious but Belly too easily forgets all of the shit that he has pulled with her, and meanwhile there was Jere "the emotionally available, fun, sweet and better-looking brother" at her feet. And she really likes Jere too, she said that when she kissed Jere, it was real. Belly does have strong feelings for Jere, but she just couldn't get over Conrad for god knows why😒. The last scene with Belly and Conrad was crazy , it didn't make any sense. Other than that a fun show , I expected it to be a shallow but it did have heart.

Conrad was standoffish and cold the whole time because he's known that his mom was sick since April -- they make that pretty clear in the show. They also make a point to show that he was fun and nice during previous summers with the flashbacks, that's why everyone keeps being like "what's wrong with him" this summer.
