I’m not sure if it’d be feasible, but if you want the player to be able to catch up with the panda in unique ways, maybe make hidden passages that could incentivize memorizing the map. 👀

I love this! I have this idea for a game in my head that I wish I could make look this good. Frogs can be just like rocks that sit still on the lily pads, if you just add croaking sound effects near the pond, it does a lot of ‘adding life’ for you instead of trying to animate them. Well, maybe a blink or two wouldn’t hurt.

This is pretty good as a devlog. Good balance between the technical and not, so that non-techy's could follow it. I'm building an adventure game (in the planning stages so nothing to show yet), and am going to devlog it -- so I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I want it to be accessible to more than just devs, but anyone who's just interested in how something's made. Good job!

Might be a little silly, but for atmosphere I suggest adding some cloud planes (sort of like the fog planes but in the islands) and particles that fade away as you get close to them, to sort of sell the idea better that the islands are floating high in the sky when seen from a distance. It will also help making it feel larger. At 10:00 you can sort of imagine the vista and imagine some clouds floating and enveloping the terrain and swaying in the wind, especially the farther parts. I think this will make it feel way more "grounded" (no pun intended) and atmospheric.

This is my first time seeing your game, and I think that you should give a small outline of what your game is about, might be tedious if you do that in every video, but maybe having a simple intro like adventure time or avatar the last airbender would work and catch new viewers up to speed, looks like a fun game but I have no idea what it is about.

Hey great work! A tip: the trees switch their LOD in a snappy way, u can easily fix that my enabling "dither lod transitions" in the master material of the tree :)
@ShawcatDev2 ай бұрын
I was playing around with that, but I don't know if it's worth the performance drop- if you dither the transition it has to render both tree LODs at the same time during the transition, and since the trees can get so dense it greatly increases the number of trees and polygons being rendered in the scene at any given time

Wow, awesome improvement, it looks sooo much better!! Congrats!! If I can recommend something to take it to the next level it would be adding some color/hue variation, specially in the leaves of the trees so the detail won't be so lost in one vig clump of the same solid color. Bit other than that this looks really really awesome! I especially love the new mushrooms ❤

Not sure of the vibe you’re going for with naming the mushrooms, but here’s my take: Waxy Green -> Applecaps Drippy Black -> Tarnations Fluorescent Blue -> Glowbrites Spongy Pink -> Poptops Hopefully none of those are just ripped from some subconscious memory of someone else’s IP, but they seem fitting based on the aesthetics. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for this update video. (: These aren’t good ideas but here you go anyway: the swamp guys island has a bit of humidity so it’s a little more foggy the deeper you get into the island, and themed bridges for each island. The desert has a bone bridge, the mine has a rock/stone bridge, the mushroom has a soft/mushroom type of bridge, and the swamp has a crystal bridge over grown with swamp plants like veins and stuff.

Great map design! I would recommend to work a bit on the environment lighting + shadows, especially in certain areas like the island with the blue grass as currently, it sorts of pops out like a sore thumb (Some ideas would be do add a light blue fog in the area with bright blue/purple particles flying around (Would also fit into the theme of spores)). Adding things like mist when the player is far away from an area on the map would also improve visually the 3D models with lower LODs. Looking forward for more! :D
