I Recreated HAWKINS LAB in 121 Hours

I'm recreating Hawkins Lab in Minecraft from the Netflix series Stranger Things! Max and Eleven's journeys in Season 4 also reminded me of my own experiences with mental health and therapy, so this video goes deep into my own life and how my experiences mirrored Max's escape from Vecna's mind lair.
To create Hawkins National Lab, I looked at tons of screenshots from the show as well as photos and videos of its real life location, the old Georgia Mental Health Institute building at Emory University's Briarcliff campus to make it as accurate as possible.
On this channel you will see Minecraft building timelapses intermixed with observations and trivia from popular TV shows and movies. It's a lovely little mashup that holds about as well together as Steve and Dustin becoming best friends. It's odd, but it just... works, I guess?

After I watched Max escape Vecna, I knew I couldn't do a standard timelapse video. I opened up to you guys a lot earlier than I planned, so hopefully I was able to help you on a journey toward something positive in your life. If you enjoyed this one, then check out my Jabba's Palace build video for more content. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/irGopql0sdazmHk.html Oh, before I forget, a few weeks ago I read a Substack from a writer who's on a similar wavelength as me about Stranger Things Season 4. Thanks for this! Your ability to tell a story and create a video that is so much more then just a building video is incredible. Many storytelling videos like this get boring and is hard to watch the whole way through. But you manage to keep it interesting and relatable. Your calm voice and tone makes it easy to watch. May I also add, the editing is really good and easy on the eye. Great job! I am very impressed. There is no doubt in my mind that you will succeed and grow your channel to great measures!

Duuuude! How does this only have 400 views?!? The production quality of this video is reality shattering compared to the attention it got. KZfaq really needs to step up their game and start recommending your channel and others like this. The content you're producing is mind-blowing. Keep making videos brother!!!

@@jutstin I love making these videos. I'm also pretty happy doing what I'm doing right now. Turns out you don't need KZfaq to feel fulfilled. Kind of ironic this is more or less my last video, huh? Like I said in the video, I couldn't make this channel work at scale. But I also said in the video that I'd keep going, and in a manner of speaking I did, because I got over the sadness and I'm happy and grateful for the experience KZfaq gave me and now I get to be a normal person with a family. Maybe the lesson is good things come from directions often unlooked for. Sorry that this isn't the answer you were hoping for. But I do hope you understand.

I was a patient in that building from 1966-1969. It was not for the criminally insane, but the opposite, the patients with milder illnesses that had a better chance of re-integrating back into society. It was really quite lovely and progressive back then. Strangely enough I also took a seminar in data management there in the early 2000’s when Emory University was trying to make use of the old building. You got the look of the interior all wrong of course, at least the way it looked in the 60’s, but then I have no idea the renovations it had since then. There were no sub-basements. Besides a perfectly normal basement (used for utilities and storage) the basement was neat in that they had a series of tunnels to the outlying buildings (which are shown in your picture at 5:53) which also housed patients. In fact only one floor of the main building houses in-patients. The rest was taken up by offices, classes, out-patient facilities, food services etc.
@SWChris
@SWChris 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the information! I had to guess in a lot of places of course, based on videos others had taken. The real tunnels are pretty cool and I can see how Stranger Things took inspiration from them for its sub-basement sets.

Hi Chris. Thank you for this AMAZING piece of art, and for sharing your journey. I came here to observe your art, but your journey hit me really hard. I'm not doing well myself, but I don't know how to get out of my dark place without going through a lot of counseling. And it's going to be really difficult counseling that will force me to experience feelings connected to things I've buried very deep. It would hurt deeply, and I would be a mess for quite a long time, and I don't know if I have it in me. I cope by drinking; I drink every night and I barely speak to anyone today. I used to think I would finally get to a point that I want to change, that I want to resolve so many things from my past that my family inflicted on me. But the longer I keep drinking, the more I don't think that "point" will come. I think I could cope with alcohol for the rest of my life. It's sad, because I believe God made me to do wonderful things in my life; and I have and still am. But I don't feel much because I keep myself in a permanent haze to get through my day. Anyway, thank you again for this incredible video, and for opening your heart to your viewers!

For my issues, I went to a marriage and family therapist that happened to be a Christian for several years and a more specialized counselor after that for more years. It is hard. Especially the first session. That's the toughest one. But if you can make it through that one and still go back, it gets easier. You don't cry as much. That can feel emasculating but it's mostly because I shut my emotions off. You're not alone in this. There are many people just like you. You can do it if you decide to. Don't wait for your feelings to match. Do what you already know you should do. Just put one foot in front of the other and book an appointment if you have the means. Also, I have a few more things to consider. 1. Don't think about how long it could take. Think only about getting through the day in front of you. 2. It's important to make sure your counselor shares enough of your own worldview--you are trusting them to guide you in accordance with it after all. 3. You said God made you to do wonderful things. I believe that too. If you are a Christian of some kind, Focus on the Family has a directory that can help you find one that fits with you. That's how I found mine. www.christiancounselorsnetwork.com/ Watch the video any time you need a motivational boost. There's probably better ones out there, but use what you got. I'm glad it could help you. I'll be praying for you.

Hello! Ever since I watched Stranger Things, I have been very interested in this lab. Mystical and mysterious. I really appreciate you providing the download link! The building turned out to be amazingly great! However, I have a question. Did you use a lazy version? Because one texture pack is 1.17 and the other is 1.18. And as far as I know, usually texture packs only work in the version they were made for. Thank you for your answer and help! Again, I am very grateful!
@SWChris
@SWChris Жыл бұрын
Older texture packs will work in newer versions except for the parts of them that have been deprecated. For example, if a texture is renamed in the newer version, the older texture pack won't replace it.
