As someone who owns a 89 Crown Vic, I can tell you that at you did the right thing. If I were you, I would tuck it away and only let it see daylight during the summer. It took me 2 years to get my 89 back on the road and now I drive mine every chance I get BUT if mine looked like that, I would just look at it lol. I really wish these cars got the attention they deserve.

You completely did the right thing screening the buyers. So many buyers totally trash any vehicle they buy and as the current cartaker it's wonderful that you cared enough about this beautiful car to want it to go to a loving home. I also agree that the 1988-1989 years are the best in regards to interiors. I hate the 1990-1991 dashboards for the same reason you gave, it's freaking ugly. Airbag looks like crap and the sloped dash was indeed meant for the Towncar. I applaud you for your determination to get this car into good hands.

This video is very entertaining. I would love a car like this. I live in NY and would park it on the street as parking lots are too expensive. In about two years time the vehicle would be showing rust underneath. The bumpers would be damaged and there would be various dings and scratches on it. A couple of years ago a friend of my was given a mint condition 2001 Grand Marquis by his daughter as she was getting a new car. The car had been garaged all its life. It had over 100k on it. He used it for a private car service and parked it in the Bronx. Within two years the vehicle looked well used. The fabric roof became weathered there were dings and scratches all over it and the leather seats became cracked. It went from looking like a brand new vehicle to a well used one in two years time. He sold it for $300 as the pandemic hit after putting in thousands of dollars in maintenance into it over the few years that he had it.

I own a 1989 LX, and I will tell you IMMEDIATELY, do NOT get rid of it. The classic Crown Vics are one of a kind and so many people these days always like to destroy them by putting ugly giant rims or never leave them original. Keep it, man. They're more valuable than you think!

Good for you Al. These are beautiful cars that are not made anymore. I have two Crown Victoria wagons a 1987 and a 1991 LX model. My 1987 is my dedicated winter car with 246,000.0 miles and a complete set of steel rims with rear snow tires to save my aluminum turbine wheels from the salt. The 1991 had a engine and transmission rebuild in 2020 and only has 10,000.0 miles since then. The body on it is rust free as it was a Florida car in it's early years. And my most prized car is a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS 50th Anniversary Edition with only 74,000.0 miles. According to a plaque on the dash it is one of only 250 built with this trim package. It is in dark blue metallic with full carriage roof , gold anodized exterior trim, gold anodizes trunk lid mounted luggage rack and is a stunning car. I am the second owner and will keep it well protected.

Greetings ! Fantastic car. You are absolutely right to choose to whom you going to give it. I am a huge fan of 60s, 70s and 80s American Cars and hope I'll be able to afford one in the near future. I discovered your channel by the way through your video on refurbishing a Maserati Quattroporte sticky buttons, as I just acquired one recently with a near to disgusting interior, that video made me laugh but also you showed that refurbishing the interior of that car is possible at a time when I nearly gave up. As you mention in this video, why would anyone allow to some Mickey Mouse installer to rip apart interior panels that are in excellent condition! Thing that happened to me with the Maserati - as the previous owner allowed such a "vandalism". I am 100 percent with you on the modifications front: Keep a beautiful vintage car bone stock or if required, repair with only factory parts (not cheap but a must; if one has a classic, one can supposedly afford its proper maintenance) or, one should rather take any car and give it a full blown racing modifications and stay away from gems. Two thumbs up for your videos!

IMHO in ten years people won't be able to give restomods away. Similar to the chopper fad in motorcycles in the early 2000's. That lasted about 5 years. Now choppers are pennies on the dollar. Saw an Orange County chopper that sold for 80k new go for 8K recently. OEM vehicles will always hold their value.

It would be a spring and summer cruiser for me. Hell, if I had it like that I would put it in a climate controlled garage.
