You're doing it backwards. You want to record where the volume is averaging -18dBFS and peaks are at about -12dBFS. Preferably recording 24-bit instead of 16-bit. That gives you headroom to raise it back up in post without worrying about noise. Once you've clipped the mic, you'll never recover that data. It's literally "clipped" off digitally. As far as overall levels go for KZfaq, your mix is WAY too loud. KZfaq requires loudness (it's different from peak volume) to be at -14 LUFS (loudness units full scale). If you use DaVinci Resolve for your editing, the Fairlight page actually has a meter for this. If you upload a video above this, KZfaq crushes it back down to -14 LUFS, and you get audio degradation. This video was turned down 55%. Right-click on the video and look at "Stats for nerds". It's showing 7dB too high. If you fix those two things, your videos will sound a lot better. I hope this helps.

I literally picked up their bundle recently with the Dmann tune, because of this video and couldnt be happier. Anthony has been great to work with, and answered my questions, promptly. Felix is great, cant wait to work with them again in the future.

@@brendanfogel4573 that’s actually interesting. You just made me realize that Subaru has the FA24 in almost all of their cars. Imagine an Ascent or Outback with a fat intercooler and making 450hp. I would literally lose my mind.

I picked up my sapphire blue 23 6 spd yesterday and it’s awesome. It drives perfect. Handles really good it seems like so far. It has 90 miles on it now. Can’t wait to get home from work to drive it.

In track mode the traction control intervenes you have to turn it all the way off and hold the button down till the green track light goes out and just tc light is light alone then it would be completely disabled

Shout out ANTHONY he tuned my VA just finished tuning it on e30 waiting for ny flex it kit to go e60. Never had any issues with the tune if I had any questions he was there always to answer great guy great tuner definitely going to have him tune my VB when I get it!

@@HeavyMetalWRX Very much worth it imo. When discussed with Anthony, he said it wasnt a bad idea to upgrade the LPFP, so I tossed in the Fuel It! one. I personally noticed a more consistent Fuel pressure with it on the logs. Will be tossing on the Perrin FMIC here pretty soon and getting new maps from Anthony as well.

The mics were fine. I actually adjusted from -12 gain to 0 gain. There were 5 large fans in the shop and I thought I needed to over compensate unfortunately it was too much. Then during the drives I forgot to readjust the gain back to -12. Then I tried to salvage it in post 😭

I 100% hate the new body style. That said instead of going from my 2016 wrx to a sti. I’m probably going to go with a vb now even though I think it looked like a turd on wheels 😂. But the potential of the engine has me sold now. Why buy a low mile sti for $28-36k when I spend $30k on a new car under warranty and make way more power on a stock block. Thank you good sir for opening my eyes.

Really love this video, if i could give any advice lower the mic input volume, can hear it clipping the whole time sounds choppy. But if you've fixed this already ignore :)

Yea I did it this time because of the extra fans in the garage because it was 100 degrees. I thought I would need it. Then when I went to edit in post I went too hard on the noise reduction. So you're cheering the conflict between the two. Sadly it's too late for this video and I did it for just this one.

The challenge isn't making power, it's making as far crossed the rev range as possible. this looked like it had about 1k rpm of pull to it

The car is actually quite fast and hits 7k rpm. The gears in this car are incredibly short.

those stock Transmissions suck they will work for a WHILE but they don’t hold up over time that’s why that STI drivetrain is the way to go for big power and reliability overtime rather than wasting money on clutch’s just invest in that STI transmission and drivetrain if your going to stay in the 350 TRQ range I would say keep your OEM Transmission do a complete short shifter kit and ACT STREET CLUTCH Anything over 400 TRQ for reliability I would say go STI that’s what I’ve done in my VA WRX this was awsome the FA24 is insane STREET INSPIRED went full E85 tune and he is completely stock even stock exhaust nothing but a Cobb tuner and a e85 tune making close to 400 Whp so these FA24s are crazy That Fa24 is freaking insane!!!!! Love it

It wasnt clipping. The gain is very low. We had some weird wind when we put the mic on the STi. It sounded doodoo. Unfortunately once I shoot it I can't g back and redo.

I agree. That was one thing I noticed during the ride along the car is exceptionally smooth. The way the tune delivers the power it ramps up so well that you would be forgiven if you thought it was a stock car the way that it felt.

I believe he didn't want to push it because there was some tune adjustment that needed to be made. Dmann has some launch control play happening in his tune. They were able to fix it by the next day but I was already gone.

Traction control is off in trac mode. Only the torque vectoring system is engaged for turns. I talked to James the next day and there was something in the tune that needed an adjustment which they got done. Sadly I was already gone so I couldn't experience the full force of that launch. Just means I'll have to come back 🤘

I'm surprised the transmission lasted until 500+tq. Of course I wouldn't ever take it near that, but nice to know if i wanted to stay under 400, I should be fine.

@@Crazy8ts you didn't listen to the video then. Yes it has an STI trans, but before that, they had the stock trans, which went out when they were at 540 lb/ft of torque.

@@mistamaog wow thats good!!! The wrx 5 speeds were really on thin ice at anything over 350 ft lbs....the stock 6 speed in the new one looks like its a lot stronger, Id probably stop at 450 ft lbs before goinfbto an STI 6 speed

They actually swapped over to a full STI transmission and differential.

I mean...456hp/541tq on stock is insane...but if you consider you blew 3rd on a pull, you were already waaay past the functional limits of that transmission. I cant see the stock transmission surviving beyond 350hp/400tq give or take if you are gonna go hard.

I have a feeling it'll be closer to 450 tq. The clutch is going to go first imo, for a lot of these non 600 hp cars.

@@HeavyMetalWRX I am still blown away at how much this new 2.4 has to give which is why I have to agree. The clutch, transmission, diffs, xfer case...I think it is likely that they all become the limiting factors before the engine does, especially if digs are involved...time will tell us soon. As warranties get close to expiration and more parts come out the modding is going to get insane and the truth will be shaken out.

I understand there was some clipping but exactly what did you hear that was really bad ? I did end up switching the mic db higher because we had fans in the shop. Had to adjust in post.

You know they stopped making the STI, right? Also the STI engine (EJ) is inferior to the FA24.

The only inferior part is the fact that the EJ is not direct injected, there are tons of people that have made 500whp+ on the EJ factory sealed longblock! The record is like 821whp for EJ on a dynojet, I personally have been running at 550whp/481wtq tuned on mustang dyno for the past 30k miles. The stock baseline is 210whp for dyno I tuned on There is no way there dyno reads that low or accurately to SAE calibration wouldn’t be surprised if a stock sti baseline is around 250-260whp for the 660 they are making. So mustang dyno is around 565whp if you do the math!

@@tinophom951 lmfao, take both cars to the track, sti is going to lay the hammer down, from transmission, to brakes, then from there when you start building both cars, there is a lot more you have to upgrade on the wrx that you don’t on an sti, brakes, transmission, rear end, want me to continue? Just because you can do some pills with the factory motor at 600whp doesn’t prove anything, go track either one factory sealed longblock above 450whp/WTQ they both will have an engine failure! I’ve made 550whp/481wtq on a mustang dyno for 30k miles tons of pulls on it and back road ripping and it’s still going strong, if I take it to big willow I know it will have an engine failure! Built destroked longblock going on car soon so I can start tracking car! Not to mention timing components for FA motors cost significantly more, built motors are being developed, ect. I have nothing wrong with the car, I almost bought one but doesn’t make sense to pay $35k for a car, then have to swap transmission, rear end, brakes, along with cosmetic mods and need a stand alone for flex fuel, and setting car up for track use! Think about it! I don’t need to switch to a motec or haltec on my VA I still may do so in feature but don’t have to! Just like I’m going to test the car out without aero then decide if I’m going to dry sump the motor, or wait till it’s a dedicated track car! Not everyone’s about dyno queen numbers and roll racing, there’s real people who like to track their vehicles and the wrx is an L in that category

@@charlvictor3714 unfortunately I can't answer that with any facts. I personally don't know anyone who's been running the ETS kot at 500whp as a daily. I know Joey Montalto ( another KZfaqr) is running the the ETS kit on 93 at 400ish. Most of the high powercars are actually shop or tuner cars ( that I know of). I imagine there will be some issues eventually like the transmission. There have been talks about headstuds being an issue but it's been sporadic.

This is actually swapped with a full STI drive line, including DCCD. So, in a way, it's the best version of a STI, just one Subaru didn't make. The new engine is amazing, so is the chassis. All it was missing was the STi transmission.

@@HeavyMetalWRX oh I understand. Ya the chassis is good. I don’t like how it’s a bit heavier though or the look. But I know it is good Have you driven the 2020 and below STI? I compete in autocross with mine. I did a lot of weight reduction in mine. Handles like no other.

@@fang4524 the new VB is about 20-40lb heavier than the VA. I have never owned a STi. I almost bought one a few years ago but tons of my buddies have had different year STis. I'd love to be able to drive them around a track and experience the difference. I've actually considered just holding my own track by my house..but then I remember I'm broke 😂

So far it looks like the car is good to go with the stock fuel system. Many tuners have confirmed the parts are rated for E85.

@@ViaticalTree The number one reliability mod is really going to be catch cans or an AOS system. That's great for the long-term health of your engine. Any other mods won't directly reduce the reliability or longevity but indirectly because of the way that you will drive it can change things. To be fair many WRXs have made it over $100,000 miles with tuned engines and modifications and it just comes down to the driver and the lifestyle. My car is at 40,000 miles and it's been tuned for $36,000 miles and I have driven it incredibly aggressively More aggressively that anybody else I know. So if I can do that for 40,000 mi I think a regular daily driver can make it to over 100k easy.

Yeah cold start is pretty loud because it's heating up the cats. That's just the way the engine is, but I mean we're talking about 30 to 50 seconds of your entire drive lol
