Dang I didn't realize how small your channel was, your content is really good and cozy. I sincerely hope the best for the rest of your writing-- but also how do you write so much so fast??? I realize it's mostly revisions at the moment but still wow

You are so kind, thank you for saying this! 💛 Honestly, I don't feel like a particularly fast writer, but thanks for saying so! The first 70% of this draft was all revision, which I was able to work through fairly quickly. And I'm also learning to never underestimate the motivational power of a dream and an impending deadline. 😅

thought when I clicked on this video you were a big creator, I didn't look at the views (230 at my time of writing). I'm currently approaching deadlines in my writing degree too and its encouraging to watch vlogs like this, makes me feel not alone. Love the vibes, you should keep making videos even after these diaries! :)

uh so exciting! didn't realize your channel was so new/small, when I clicked on the thumbnail for the previous video. I'm a knitter who loves to sit in my armchair, knit, and watch other knitters' (or makers') cozy youtube vlogs, kinda similar to this: with a very cozy vibe, not a lot of drama, in the style of following along with a project, just with a different craft i guess 😅 recently I've felt like I've seen them all. some of my favourites have stopped posting or changed their content away from the things I was subscribing for, I was running out of content to binge while knitting and sipping tea. So I started looking specifically for other channels to bring me a similar kind of vibe or mood. While I am very much not a writer (you can probably tell from this comment) and not even a native English speaker, this channel is exactly the vibe I was going for. subscribed and looking forward to following along further! Greetings from Germany, Linda

Linda, I love this so much! 😊 You have no idea how happy it makes me to know that we're creating our art together from across the world. Thank you for sharing this. I'll be thinking of you every time I post a new video. 💛

@@olivia.grace.cook. 💛 "creating art together from across the world" - that is such a mood, isn't it. It honestly blows my mind sometimes that this is possible in this day and age. From a technological perspective and also from a language perspective. To think that my mother and many others of her generation (Germans in their late 50s to 60s) can barely speak any English at all. Yet, I (33) and literally every single person in my friends group will read most of our books in English, consume most of our KZfaq/ Netflix in English... that developement over a relatively short period of time just baffles me sometimes. To realize that I have so many pieces of content and information and entertainment available to me from all across the world. And to have reached a point where conversing in English is just so second nature to this whole generation, that we simply take it for granted in our day to day life. Sorry, this turned out to be a bit of a tangent😅🙈 I better stop waffling and let you get back to writing and making videos😎

Can you explain more about what the "packets" are? I assume it's a way of turning in coursework in chunks that are manageable for both you and the instructor - but how do you determine what goes in to any given packet? I'm wondering if there might be a way I can harness that to keep my writing on "schedule" without fretting too much about word count.
@olivia.grace.cook.
@olivia.grace.cook. Ай бұрын
Yeah, of course! You nailed it: the packets are just chunks of coursework that are due every three or four weeks. Each of those packets includes a letter to my advisor, a new installment of creative work, and a handful of book reviews. At the beginning of each semester, I met with my advisor to decide how many pages would be due each packet. I've found that if I'm writing new work, I can usually churn out 30-50 pages for each packet. But this semester, since I've been revising, I've been turning in anywhere from 50-100 pages per deadline. For me, I've found that writing chapter by chapter is a lot more satisfying than writing by word count. It's more motivating, too. Word counts are kind of vague and amorphous, but if I know that my book has 30 chapters planned, then each new chapter I finish gets me measurably closer to the end. I hope some of that helps! 💛 What's your current writing schedule look like?
@Exayevie
@Exayevie Ай бұрын
@@olivia.grace.cook. Thank you! Up until now, my writing goals/schedule have been time-based and fairly light (usually, just my twice-a-week train rides into the city). I want to ramp it up to finish my WIP quicker, and since I don't plan to ride the train more often, I need a new way to measure! I may design a "packet" schedule for myself. Thanks!

Will your book be having sequels ? Are there any easter eggs?
@olivia.grace.cook.

Hey Jetha! Yes, I have two sequels planned....Project Amaranth is book one of a trilogy. And you can absolutely expect a lot of easter eggs to be hidden throughout the book! I love filling my book with subtle foreshadowing. 👀

@olivia.grace.cook.

Hey Jetha, thanks for asking! I would describe my fantasy book as dark, mysterious, and mythic (with an atmosphere similar to The Lord of the Rings or Narnia), although there are some cozy parts too. 🕯
