Hi, my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent comes from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work, but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I would only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people consider this the lowest time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly, what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving, and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I have been living full-time in my self convert van. #solofemalevanlife

I also had the same thing happening to me on another van life channel. Luckily, I got to know the van lady fairly well and was able to take out the scammer because he/she said and did things that the lady would NEVER have said or done. I never heard of this scammer again. They will try, unfortunately there are some weirdos out there.

Awesome. I’m looking for property farther away from the city (Louisville). I used to live in a rural area but now my property is the only farm property left and the homeless have become a huge problem for the past 2 years. 😢 I’m even considering a van at this point.

To me you seem to be super aware when you walk etc. you pay attention to the weather and road conditions, you know your limits, you take care of your van, you see your doctor regularly and you have friends, an emergency phone thing and starlink. Hi! Just a tip regarding your amazing Kitty. I gave my cats wet and dry cat food. Short story; they got health issues. One cat would only eat dry food. Cats are carnivores and I thought why not just give them meat. I gradually changed the diet to clean meat. Took a few weeks for the cat that only loved dry food. But they ended up loving meat. And their health improved a lot. No digestive problems or high liver values or other issues. It's important that the meat is good, not full of hormones etc. Many people are moving away from pet foods and over to meat. Love your channel ❤ All the best!

My 25 yr old cats get Cooked fish & chicken (liver, too). I’m a vegetarian so it’s not fun to make but the things we do for our "kids". Before spouse passed, he did all animal food cooking. They get 4x year blood draws to make sure all good. My chihuahuas lived to 19-21. My terrier 21. Dry food is a huge no no. I always carry freeze dried in my car. In an emergency, I could eat.

I always take an iron stick when I walk alone in a park. Once I wanted to take a walk in some woods by a lake. Then I saw a man driving by himself nearby. He was watching me, and I knew if he parked and followed me down the walking trail he was bigger and could win and easily outrun me. I went back out to my car and decided not to do that again as there were no others nearby. I hope you keep looking around bc we like you and care for you. God bless and always look around when you are walking solo. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is an old saying from long ago, and it's still true today.

#BLUETTE I recently moved into my bus, I still have work to do on it, although where I was living things were getting very negative with lots of Drama. I presently only have a small 300W generator that is ok for charging my phone and I can run my pc with it for so many hrs.. I have a small fridge that needs shore power or a larger generator, so until I am able to get a larger generator I am parked on a friends property and they are letting me use some of their electric with and extension cord. I am slowly getting myself situated.. that Bluettle and fridge would be a mega Blessing for my life, making once I get on the road totally much easier for my dog and I to live life ... really have enjoyed our videos and learning so much....

I agree with you, live your life the way you want to and LOVE your exciting adventure. About the #Bluetti, I don’t have any sad stories to help me be chosen. I am a single woman who retired 3.5 years ago. I just wanted to say that your videos along with Chrome’s were the first ones I started to follow back during covid. These videos have inspired my dream to get my own van to travel the US and Canada. I seem to be stuck. I think having these Bluetti items would help me to make a start and get rolling. #Bluetti. I am a 53 yr old lady, and have been inspired by your journey since the very first video you made. I can still remember Chrome interviewing the shy girl in the Walmart parking lot! You and I met in BC, and again twice in Halifax - coast to coast! I stay in my pickup truck most of the time (when the weather allows). I don't yet have a heater so have to bunk with friends sometimes. You have made such a beautiful life for yourself and for Kelly. I can only dream of doing the same - hopefully one day I can feel so proud and happy, as you do Emi. I don't know who will win the cooler, but I am very gratefuk to have the opportunity to try! My van just got written off after being rear ended, it was a mid roof, watching your videos encouraged me to ensure the replacement had a high roof so it will be more practical for longer, I now have a new van with a high roof and will begin the modelling process.

You have common sense and trust your instincts. Bold is not the same as foolhardy. Others can live a half life based on fear; you don’t need to follow that path. Sorry to hear that Kelly is feeling poorly again. I did some brief checking on the US Amazon site and they have some different varieties of the freeze dried food you showed us, though not the venison. Might be a way to stock up on more than 2 bags if it continues agreeing with her. “Kissing time” so sweet. Thanks for sharing your life with us.

#Bluetti Hi my wife and I have been watching you and Vancity van life for years and have inspired us to get a van and fix it up and camp often.We do go to places that don't have electricity. We have been looking at #Bluetti solar generators because we really need power on our trips for our CPAP machine and our refrigerator. We are retired and can't really afford one. When we saw this video we thought maybe our prayers would be answered and we could get this #Bluetti. That blue heron is so gorgeous. My kitty's dry food isn't even unusual but the stores are always out of it (except the massive bags that are too expensive). I end up having to drive around every time. The cat eats better than I do 🙂

Hey Emi! Those who would tell you not to live your life in your own terms are simply too afraid to do so themselves. Vanlife as a solo female is absolutely fabulous. I do have 2 dogs with me, so that adds a tiny bit of safety, but since their both getting old and one is completely blind, I’m pretty sure I’m in my own if someone tries to hurt me. I’ve not felt threatened or fearful, not once. Just as you do, I trust my gut and don’t go/stay anywhere that doesn’t feel “right”. You’re an inspiration to so many women (and some men as well I suppose), keep living your fabulous life and do it 100% on your own terms.

I am just starting my van build in a 2019 Dodge Caravan and will be heading on the road in the next week or two. My husband is going to stay home. I told him it’s a me trip! Hi Emi. Sorry to hear Kelly is still having stomach issues. One natural remedy that will may work is pumpkin purée, a little less than a teaspoon. I’ve used it on my dogs and it helped them with their stomach issues.

Hi EMI, #Bluetti that cooler would be an awesome addition to our camping gear. My wife and I are both avid wanderers whenever we can get away and we are currently teaching our 3 beautiful young granddaughters the world of nature and travel. Children don’t care if they are on a sun kissed beach in the Bahamas or a rain soaked beach at home in the UK 🇬🇧 they just enjoy our company and we day trip to beaches and Forrest’s whenever time allows and we show them there’s so much more to life than being on their electronics all the time. A story: I'm 63 years old, and last year lost my last parent after caring for him 11 years. My goal is to buy all the items I need to maintain my dog (I inherited) and my cat in my van. My dog (blind but happy) has a special diet only eating raw food that has to stay frozen till use.I've been planning on a fall to start my adventure, but the fridge/freezer is something I am struggling to budget for. The fact that the bluetti has its own power source would be perfect. no additional wiring. As to u being solo; well I find that not having to consider some one else's wishes all the time makes it easier to do what makes me happy. Do you for you Emi. Being Christian, I believe that my days are numbered and God wants all of us to live life in all of its glories and sorrows to the best of our abilties.i don't get stupid but see no reason to be fearful. if I can say that God let me wake up today, then it's a GREAT day. Doesn't mean their won't be problems or issues, or even bad things, just that it will be what I make of it or them. I have watched you for a couple of years and know what you have shared of your past and it seems to me you are fairly solid regarding your options and choices. #Bluetti Hello Emi. I don't live in a van due to disability/disease; but am planning on doing some camping to see what I am capable of . I've always loved nature and the great outdoors. Like allot of people ; between raising a family, work and just everyday life I told myself one day I will do what I love. God had other plans for me. My kids are adults with their own families and my husband passed away in 2019, and I've been more or less just waiting for my disease to take what's left of me. Then I started watching your channel. You're an inspiration! Thank you. I do enjoy watching your adventures and photography and of course Kitty. I hope you find a food that works for her. I myself have two cats. They're my boys. #Bluetti after two years and two spinal surgeries my husband has his legs back and we have started camping because life is too short not to do what makes you happy. We would definitely love to add this fridge to our camping gear. Emmie life seriously can change in the blink of an eye and we saw ours fading into something we never imagined so so what makes you happy. You and Kellie have helped us through our tradgedy more than you will ever know. So I thankyou and wish nothing but good things for you both 💓

#bluetti - camped for many years and would have loved a fridge and power supply like you just showed us. I am currently caring for my elderly mom and have been trying to save and afford a setup like you have for in our house during power outages so that I can have piece of mind that my mom will be alright as she is not able to stay in emergency shelter and too far for independent living. I remember when we had to pretty much cook all our camp food the next day and enjoy lukewarm drinks as our coleman coolers and ice couldn’t last through a 3 - 4 day weekend. However we loved being out in nature so much that more than 40 years later, dreaming of retiring in a van like yours and perusing the great outdoors and off grid living as much as possible. Oh how awesome! My grandson just built his own little home. And hes not even 21 yet. He has built it all on his on his own..And he's going off grid.
