I'm sure you've answered this previously, but it may help other newcomers such as myself. My pleco is around a foot long, I want a planted tank... But he eats most of the plants I try (including your Monte Carlo). Do y'all have any plants available that can be guaranteed "pleco safe"? Great logic for choosing the corn dog btw! Lol

@@damiangrouse4564 part of that feeling from Corey I think comes from people asking the same questions time after time. I think rather than look back at questions Corey gets asked the same questions over and over again. Is it people who can't be bothered to go back and look or is it people who just want to hear their name and the question answered. Can I put Platy's with Guppies? Can I put a Green Terror with a with this or that. Corey has answered so many of the same questions for years but I suspect that the people who ask so often just want to be noticed by one of the nicest guys in the business. Corey bears the pressure well and I think he will change formats if he has to. He has done it before I expect he will do it again.

@@damiangrouse4564 same. I don’t care about him saying my name on a live stream and I can google my own answers. I do love the live streams some of the best are when he just does his thing like with the filter review he did or whatever it was. Just leave the chat out of it and show us something cool or choose a subject and give us tips and advice. Corey is so passionate about what he does that it really shows, so I would rather see him do whatever videos he wants rather than feel obligated to livestream. Especially for how long he does it! I enjoy hearing the long version answers - like how you would do a dirted tank! My question would be - if you’re planning to set up a tank with a large school of fish, would you get a few at a time, quarantine them and add them in, or save up to go big and get all of them at once? I have a dream of one day having a huge tank with huge schools of corydoras and tetras to see their schooling behavior closer to how it might be in the wild. I’ll have to check into the forum again - I keep forgetting it’s there and it sounds like so much fun!

5:55 MD fish tank uses these plastic zip back were he stuff the aqua soil inside then place them under gravel and sand in the plants can still pierced the bag in root up in the soil with causing a mess. Plus you can re use the bag and aqua soil for future tank and if you run out of nutrients you can place root tabs inside the bag or just stick them in the substrate

For future label designs, I would definitely mention on the label that you include them in the package. They were in superlative condition so they all went in with the discus. The hairgrass is a super addition, I have not had that yet and got a bunch more. Really well done on the packaging and the whole thing was a top notch experience. I reuse the zip locks to get frozen food home from the store.. The water sprite and some of these plants are full grown perfect condition. makes you want to be more vigilant with the ferts. Seeing the shipping bench made me think my orders.... @nsasimallik

I would definitely go for a offline establishment. This way one can physically associate with customers ( yes Covid and businesses are greatly suffering from overhead costs) but selling live stock online will not benefit in long run. Customer can physically inspect the fish and plants in a stores gather information about that particular fish & plant and make a decision to buy or not to. This way the shop owner will build trust with his customers over time and will become a fish store to go to in that local area. This is my opinion.

Thoughts on hard tap water/vs using Ro/Di water, and using a product to reminerilze? I currently use ro/di, and mix in the minerals to get away from what’s in the tap water here. If you were trying to get the perfect water, what would you do?
@dakotabrowning5286

I've never experienced stable measurements when using municipal tap water. If you're trying to get perfect water, using RO water is obviously the way to go. Using RO/DI water is more time consuming and expensive than tap or well water. Im envious of fish keepers on a well.
@loganmraz3511
@loganmraz3511 2 жыл бұрын
@@dakotabrowning5286 I agree, I never had luck with well water even. I noticed parameters would change over time, and ph was always a issue so some fish weren’t happy. I have been using ro/di, and remineralizing for about a year now, it’s nice to know I have stable gh/kh, ph, and can adjust them to be stable. My fish breed like crazy now, and I have less problem with aggression as crazy as it sounds.
@nsasimallik
@nsasimallik 2 жыл бұрын
@@dakotabrowning5286 There is also down sides to well water. The hardness in water will cause calcium buildup on rim of your tank and is a eyesore. It is quite hard to scrape it off. Yes ground water has its own benefits, like readily available, no need to add any chlorine removing chemicals and your fish love it.

I have over 30 dirted tank. They are setup in my different ways. Some with gravel over the dirt and others with different types of sands. As long as I have have put at least 3 inches of gravel or 2 inches of sand, I haven't had any of these problems. Infact, I would never do it another way. Well maybe in an unique situation. In fact I have tanks that are lightly planted and have a lot of fish and after months of no water changes I can't even read a nitrate level. Maybe your water type has something to do with it but all I know is it works extremely well. And most of my tanks don't have any type of filtration. Other than the natural filtration.

Dirt as substrate for the win. Did it for couple of years now. Everything is green and water is clear. Cost me few dollars. Never used anything extra for the plants. No extra tablets or extra special liquid. For me it just worked. Used dirt for garden with manure. I just made sure it was all organic all natural. BUT if you will try to remove plants with roots . The water will get cloudy for half a day. I warned you.

Why is the ammonia test on a strip by itself ? Can’t you make one strip that tests ammonia and nitrates?
@cjsgarage3789
@cjsgarage3789 2 жыл бұрын
probably a supplier issue, my API test strips don’t have ammonia on them, so it might be the same supplier and getting one with ammonia would cost them more.

The testing method is different. Ammonia strips = swirl in tank for 30 seconds, remove and read immediately. Panel = Swirl for just 3 seconds, remove and wait 60 seconds to read results

The ammonia test would foul the other tests. That's why [good] strips keep them separate.

Love these warehouse videos. Makes me wanna jump in and get things unloaded and picked so we can get these products to fishkeepers! Heck, I'd do it for free knowing some keeper is out there opening a package with a gentle smile.

I remember an airline that was the #1 hirer of women Flight attendants back in. The 70's though I cannot remember their name. They always said they hired attitude they could train flight attendants to be good at their job but they couldn't train Attitude! If you enjoy meeting new people and learning the skills you need, then you will fit into most retail jobs.

Maybe it was Southwest your thinking of? “We'll train you on whatever it is you have to do; but the one thing Southwest cannot change in people is inherent attitudes." Herb Kelleher, Former CEO & Co-Founder , Southwest Airlines

I have been on the fence about this for a while, I currently have your fry and small fish food and my fish love it. I also mix in a variety of other foods. I was wondering if buying the brine shrimp eggs and feeding live brine shrimp is going to have any major benefits for the fish that makes it worth while compared to other foods, and if so how often should you feed them it? Love your channel by the way!

Hey Corey, not sure if you have come across Aquarium Domain on KZfaq? I have just come across his channel, he has been on KZfaq for about a year. It would be awesome to see you guys do a tour if he is up for it. The dude has some awesome tanks going on, including a 3000 gallon(!!). He has salt as well as the fresh and has some cool filtration going on (no water changes) as well as some solid diy. Only 5k subscribers but I reckon that will soon change. To anyone else reading this, it's definitely worth checking out.

Regarding your relationship with vendors. I agree with you but also agree in some way with the vendor. Sometimes it is how you say it or how the message is perceived. Keep in mind that your plant replacement policy includes a photo of the dead plant! No big deal with me but to some it plays into trustfulness

Hi Cory and the team! I had a question: If I have a plant in the aquarium with sick fish and I move the plant into different aquarium, will it carry the decease in the new aquarium. In short: do plants transfer fish deceases?

Hi stranger, good to see you again and it would be great if you could get Dean to appear with you. The one inch layer of dirt works a lot better if you mix about equal parts of sand and gravel with it.. Roots like to feel secure.

Hay Cory I’m looking to set up a 15 gallon bow front planted tank with 20 rummy nose shrimp and nerite snails. Can just use one nano sprung filter or should also add more.
