The world of adult entertainment in Japan is certainly unique, but what is it actually like to work within it? Today, I spent a day with someone who knows a little too much about what goes on under the sheets.
Thank you to Mariten for letting me interview her!

Seeing a lot of negative comments in here so I'm just gonna say that these kinds of videos are my favorite type of Joey content. He's giving us insight into topics foreigners like us would never even get the chance to know about bc of the language barrier, so I'm really grateful for the interesting interviews about a bit more "problematic" topics about Japan. I honestly feel like I could watch hours of videos like this, so keep up the good work, Joey!

Her backstory really shows how restriction from a really young age could lead to a complete 180. Parents and parental figures in general have so much responsabilty we don't see, it's actually incredible. As she said in the interview, people are complicated : complete restriciton from life stages every human goes through in their childhood will never be beneficial to a person, no matter how many benefits the parental figures think they bring into their child's life.

Yes, our personality is a cloud of little events that made a long standing impresion on us. When i was a kid and asked for the time, for some reason no one told me the exact time, the number. Like if it was 3:55 they wuold say 4:00. That made me mad as a kid. Now every time someone ask to me for the time i just said the exact hour and minute. Is a little detail but it is part of me and it will be for the rest of my life.

God is with You Throughout the Bible, there are various moments where God tells someone to not be afraid. Each one comes at a time when the hearer has every reason to be very afraid. In one instance, Joshua, the leader of Israel after the death of Moses, was taking the Israelites to their promised land (see: Exodus 3). He was leading over one million people to a place God had promised, and it meant going through some overwhelming and terrifying situations. In the midst of this, God commanded Joshua to do two things: Obey the Word of God and, be strong and courageous because the Lord was with them. (See: Joshua 1:7-9) In Matthew 28, Jesus says something similar just after His resurrection. He is with His eleven disciples and He tells them: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 ESV (Emphasis added) Jesus tells His disciples two main things: - Obey His word (“go into all nations and make disciples”) and, He would be with them. - God is always the same. He was the same God when He gave Joshua His word and the assurance of His presence, and He is the same God who gives us His Word and assures us of His presence. We are known, loved, and cared for by the faithful, consistent God-and He will never leave or abandon us. Today, reflect on the ways you can teach others about Jesus and His words. How does His Word and His presence make you strong and courageous? Before leaving this time, thank God for His promise to always be with you.

just shows you that the more you starve someone of something the more insatiable they become, reminds me of my older sister my parents was super strict with her when she was in her teens to college, the second she graduated and realized she can do anything she wants, since she can take care of herself, she immediately accepted a job faraway from our hometown just so she can breakaway from our parents control.

I have also seen the opposite, where people from super liberal households end up becoming super conservative. Same thing with home schooled kids ending up having social issues as they grow older... it is pretty crazy on the harder someone tries to push a person in a direction the more likely they are to resist and go against the grain.

I find one of the recurring statements in interviews with people in the adult industry, no matter what culture, is the closeness the customers get to the workers. It sounds like, for some of the customers, adult industry workers are a form of therapy, which I think says a lot about how the work-life balance around the world has really affected all of us.
@grumpytanuki7674
@grumpytanuki7674 2 ай бұрын
It's absolutely a form of therapy. I'm not a sex worker myself, but I've done research on human sexuality and its facets for a while now. There's a big business of professional Dominatrixes close to the government area and big business zones; because guys who are the big movers and shakers in their daily lives sometimes need that therapy - to give up all that control and responsibility to someone else, even if only for an hour at a time.

It is it is, I'm a client who knows other clients and it's often a disappointment if the working lady has a bad personality or is deliberately distant. Most people out of the industry probably wouldn't think we care about that but we do.
@k.v.7681
@k.v.7681 2 ай бұрын
When I was younger I worked in a bar that had a lot of working girls waiting for clients, resting a bit etc. It was a safe indoors public space where they could start their interactions and land after them. There are a couple stories I still remember quite well. There was one "older" lady (in her late 50's) that had a young customer that never asked for sex. He just wanted to have a nap with his head on her chest. She shared another client with a younger girl. An older gentleman that took the older lady on date-like outings once a week (restaurant, cinema...). As for the younger one, he just took her on meals and asked her how she was doing in Uni (she was a student). Turns out he was a widower that lost his daughter in a car crash when she was in school. And one that really stuck is a lady bound to a wheel chair that used to come with her husband. She'd "select" a girl to help her out with what she couldn't manage. I had a chat with her once seeing her alone as she was waiting for her husband to come from work. Really confident in her relationship and what they did. At the end of the day, sex workers tend to respond to a deeply intimate human need that very rarely boils down to "sex", and can even be separate from it. They offer people the chance to be vulnerable where they otherwise could not.

Same. My parents, for instance, never gave me the “talk” because in our culture it is widely taboo. I found out about some things when I was ten. Over the years, I learned more and experimented, and I don’t treat it like “Ayo, that is wild. 💀🤨”anymore. Dirty jokes was so middle school! Haha! It does feel powerful to be able to give advice on these aspects when people need it and opening up about experiences in a mature light instead of being deceitful or secretive about it.

@@mintandfruits Yeah, but we also have to understand why it's so difficult to engage. The birds and bees talk doesn't always result in taking the best path forward. A child may learn, but also unfortunately go too far with their curiosity - and that outcome can result in vulnerability and exploitation by peers. As with human nature, we sometimes don't learn until the consequences sink in, children or otherwise.

Its so obvious the guys in here who have never touched a woman or dated haha saying things like "Aki is probably scared now lol" "Aki is going to be mad when she sees this" as if they dont live together. She probably has known about this interview for weeks now or months now probably even helped Joey set it up. Also its really funny to see how supportive everyone is when its a Japanese sex worker but when its American girls its "be gone thot" energy... interesting. 😗

One question I'm curious about that wasn't asked (the entire interview was very insightful and classy) is if Japanese culture sees it as cheating to have these services done or is it subjective person to person? I know in 'most' Western cultures it would be seen as such if you have a partner. Another would be if it would be hard not to form attachments or possibly fall in love with certain clients since part of the work is intimacy in more way than one. (Love your stuff, Joey. I've been watching you for years. Keep on, keep on! 🎉)
