Currently working full time in Insurance Consulting, and studying for IFoA professional exams to become a qualified actuary. I studied Physical Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge 2017-2020, and specialised in Astrophysics.

Goodness secondment - slippery slope Paige (!) - after Cambridge uni and a year or so of my first actuarial consultancy job I went on **shock horror** secondment at a Bancassurer... it started several very happy years - you'll be fine and best of luck! :-)

Awesome to see you settling into a new job again, Paige! And you seem to be enjoying yourself which is key at the end of the day. I would be curious about your full day in the working life and what your daily expenditures would be (say for lunch, commute, dinner etc) to gauge cost of living there right now for the new gen of workers. Im brazilian and I once workers ar AIG an american insurance company as secondment. It was a great experience. I worked at a big project of aig with santander the bank. And this is a great opportunity for the client like you and say "hey came work for us permanently ". It happen with me. Nowadays I work for Johnsons & Johnsons. I mean I love consultants company but when you work at final client it is another life, you are all the perks and great global opportunities.

Paige, I am happy for you. You will get lots of opportunities to network at this new place. I just wanted to let you know that some of the statistical, mathematical and programming skills that you are acquiring through Actuarial studies are also essential in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. So you have made a very good career decision.

Hey! I have been watching your videos for 5 years now! You motivated me alot thank you for everything, I have finally gotten into uni and since Im going into econ/finance id figure id ask. Out of my options- warwick, lse, edinburgh, manchester and ucl which would you recommend I go to from your experience in the field? Also are you planning to go back to astrophysics some day? Data analytics is probably most relevant, actuarial work is all about spotting trends. Although the automation course would also be a good choice, it won’t be long before the long, manual data manip that junior actuarial analysts are tasked with is a thing of the past!

When you say "Wow, my jaw dropped" at 8:58 I hear "Wow, my George robbed". 😂 Which of course doesn't make sense but sounds hilarious 😂. Congratulations on your new job. It's very motivating when I see you so excited for something new. I'm the kind of person that hates new things at first and when I hear my boss wants me to do something new I get terrified and hate my life 🤣. It's really nice seeing you so excited. It teaches me there are opportunities that are scary but can teach you so much and make you grow so at the end they are not that scary :).
