This beast was used by 653 squadron who were formed during WW2 and it served in Belize, Canada, Ethiopia and Norway and also Northern Ireland during the troubles. Im in no way connected to the army. You saying that the loos were nice reminds me of when my Nan went to my school to see a play and said, "The toilets are beautiful!" lol

I used to fly helicopters many moons ago. Shame they had to remove the controls and the OHCP. The blades are pretty sharp and they removed the rear tail rotor as these can be lethal as well! I suspect the main rotor is locked in place as they can spin with the wind if the locking pins are not used (Called windmilling). There wasn't much room in a standard one unless you had a Chinook or a Westland SAR configuration. Air con wasn't fitted as all you did was open the side flaps to cool off! To be honest I am surprised they didn't give you a safety check list as it still retains it's blades. I have a idea that particular one was used a MediVac. That one is of Type AH7 (AH1). Last recorded flight was 31st July 2015. Built in 1982 for the AAC. Covered 36K flying hours. 2540 TO/LS (Ambiguous)

Like the ex-prison, crane, plane etc. & always interesting. Imagine telling the crew & soldiers who once flew in it, "One day, guys - this will be a place to stay in"; they would think you were insane 😊

These unusual lodgings are a lot of fun! Also, if you forget a pillow again you can stuff your sleeping bag bag with some clothes.

Love it when you say so causally "you've got everything you need in here, apart from a shower and a toilet". It sounds so normal yet is such a deal breaker for me it's absurd 😂

Would be cool if they had it on a bit of a hill overlooking the campsite , it would look great up high . The only downside i think would be so many of the other campers or kids constantly walking around it for a look

Absolutely love your videos! Not exploring the country as much as I did when using a family railcard, when kids traveled for just a pound! Your videos remind me so much of the adventures I had with my children, homegrown and foster children, so many memories made!!

I’m glad these places exist and I’d consider taking my two boys there one day, for a night only as I don’t think the lack of a toilet (with my bladder) would be a good idea for myself. I also imagine in the summer too hot and raining too noisy. Those pods looked great though and I would definitely fancy trying those out, especially with the views of the lake. The only slight criticism Tim, how much did you pay ? As you’re always good for telling us about the pricing of these types of places.

BlackBerry wood Hassocks, Sussex has clamping in tree houses,a fire engine, a bus, gypsy caravan, airstream caravan, gypsy caravan, wild and woodland camping. We went woodland camping, it was great having a fire and so secluded. Next time we'd love to try one of the unusual clamping accommodation, would love to see your a review of this place.

I know im a little late to the comments but, I found what this helicopter was originally used for. Helicopter Westland Lynx AH1 Serial 241 Register (XZ676) used by Army Air Corps AAC (British Army). It was built in 1982.

Port lympne near Ashford looks fun. You can stay in a beautiful wigwam in the safari park run by the Aspinall foundation. I bet Casper would love it.

Love this because my father worked for Westland helicopters in Yeovil back in the days. The Lynx was one of my favourites. Must admit never seen this kind of interior 😄

i take my own toilet with me for night use. it has its own tent so it stays outside on the pitch. very good thing to have.

Great video! You would make a great seasonal travel presenter on the BBC or ITV. Those stationary helicopters are a unique lodging, although I have seen converted train carriages turned into holiday accommodations, mostly in Devon.

That is a cool place to stay. I think you have the best job on YT Tim. You have worked out a way to put up cool vids and spend your whole life on holiday !....rEspect !

I keep looking at helicopters to add to our glamping site. But the initial outlay just for the airframe is about £20K, Then you need to have it properly converted. Brings back memories for me. So weird to see how it's been converted. In the 90s they were the fastest helos in the world. Might still be if they're still in service.

Haha! We stayed in this helicopter as a family of 4 a couple of years ago! It was a bit of a squeeze but the site is great and brilliant fun for one night.

That was cute but my camping days are over lol. Grandchildren would love it though 😍

I stayed in a few weird ones. The Sgt Taylor’s Bunker is VERY unusual as well. And quite affordable. It's in Norfolk and it's a recreated WW1 commanders bunker. Very Blackadder.

There's a good chance I once pushed/pulled this cab. I don't know how I feel about this mighty beast been used for glamping, but I suppose its better than been scrapped and disappearing into history.

i do love you'r videos as i can live vicariously through them, i used to travel quite a lot but now age and infirmity means the only time i leave my house is in an ambulance. if i had anything to ask you to add it would be the prices or price spread and maybe just a little covering accessibility (like ramps, ground level rooms and adapted bathrooms) as i see loots of lifts (death traps in emergencies), stairs (unclimbable).

I had some cheeky flights in these during my Northern Ireland Tour days haha Amazing aircraft, and the fastest helicopter in the world at one stage 😎

Had the pleasure of being Cabbied around in these when in service. 😂
