Hi aviary builder for over 35 years, you may need roll down blinds at night/storms./hot days. make this yourself, thick PVC round pipe 100% shade cloth and cord. (the main thing is the ventilation flow), round holes at the top at the back/sides/covered with mesh where the wood is. dry out the droppings, lots of fresh air. happy /healthy birds live longer. ? 😎

I like Gouldian Finches (Blue and Purple breasted), Owl Finches, and I like White Zebra Finches.

I absolutely love this Aviary I think I found the one. It is just lovely. I have been looking for one that looks possible for me to build. I’m 64 yr. old but I’m sure with a little help from my husband I can do it. It’s a beautiful gift to your father. Well done 👏👍🏻

Great build - recommend partnering up his star finch, a few owls finches, and if you can get them some euro gold finches (love their acrobatics)

I only know the Dutch name which is blokhut profiel ( literally translated log cabin profil) they have the u shaped ends to click them into each other.

The aviary is 3m by 1,5m and 2m height, the whole thing is roughly 6m by 1,5m

Do you use any heater for the birds in outdoor aviary? Can finches survive outdoor aviary without any heater?

Depending on your climate, I keep my finches outside or unheated until the temperature drops below 5 a 8 degrees celsius. If it drops below this I will move my finches to an indoor bird room where they will stay during winter

Do you use treated timber and is treated timber safe for birds

Yes it's treated timber, most treated wood is safe for these birds, however if you have parrots or parakeets you have to be more careful because they chew on the wood.
