Came here because I found about 5 eggs in my garden box. The next day there were 7. Now there are 11. I had been growing zinnias in the box and first discovered the eggs while watering the flowers. The day I found the 7 eggs, I frightened a quail that had been sitting on them and she(?) ran away. I spilled some kettle popcorn in the box and then thought maybe I shouldn't interfere. After a couple days the quail came back and laid the remaining eggs. Now we are in this routine of the zinnias baking in the sun all day until the quail leaves so I can water them. She comes back some time before I get up in the morning because when I come out (even as early as 5am), she's already sitting on them. I don't know how to care for quails and I think she's probably got it all under control but I also don't want to do any harm. My flowers are shot to hell. Their watering schedule is so off and they look bad but I don't want to upset the Mom sitting on the eggs by attempting to water around her. It's over 100 degrees out. I'm afraid to offer food because: (a.) I don't want to upset the natural order she probably is used to and (b.) I don't want to attract predators or pests to disturb the environment. Any advice?

I always say, lets nature run its course. How are they doing?
@lawsonone6015
@lawsonone6015 17 күн бұрын
So far, still good. She doesn’t even run when I come out to water the flowers. (I keep a distance too). From the day I first discovered them, I’m guessing there’ll be due the end of the month. Still staying out of the way. An occasional daddy(?) quail comes around to yip a bit. When I come in and out throughout the day, I greet her with a gentle “hey chickie” but nothing more. She’s used to our voices and steps coming and going, I think.

I´ve just put my finches outside in there aviary, but for a long time i´ve been looking for a female to my tri-colored parrot finch but with no luck. I live in Denmark and it seems close to impossible to find anyone who keeps them here. lovely day to you my friend.

I'm from the Netherlands. Here it's with ups and downs. sometimes it is relatively easy to find them and then for years, it looks impossible. The same is true for cordon blues. I am looking for a pair for over a year now. Hope you find one soon.
