How is he healing at 44:55? He hits low health and his healing items in the hot bar are at 27, 12, 3, 5 and 2. Then his health bar takes two big jumps and he is healed, while continuously swinging and blocking and his healing items are still at 27, 12, 3, 5 and 2. Is the armor providing some healing or am I missing something else? Entertaining video, but confusing at that point, as well as shortly thereafter when it happens again.

The healing is from the corporate kickback mutation. This mutation gives you a chance to lifesteal when attacking after a successful block.
