She is a member of The 27 Club. It’s a very long list of talented people that died at the young age of 27. RIP Janis. 🙏🏼

No one and I mean no one, man or woman can come close to her greatness. That goes for today's singers also. Janis' heart and soul lives in every song she sings.

She was bullied almost her whole life through. That was one of the reasons that she became addicted to heroine which killed her in the end but she was a very good person that deserved so much better. Please do more reactions of hers

Janis Joplin is pure soul in human form. You have got to check out her "Get It While You Can", "Work Me Lord", "Summertime", "Ball and Chain", "Me and Bobby McGee", "Little Girl Blue", and "A Woman Left Lonely"...just to name a few of her great songs. A lot of her songs are live too and are just as good, if not better, than her studio versions. I'm subscribing because of this reaction. I want to see your journey on discovering Janis lol If Janis were still alive, she'd be 80 now. Her birthday is January 19. Same as my brother and my friend.

I ‘ve loved Miss Janis since 1967 when I was a teen. Discovered her through the Monterey Pop Festival in California, where she made her mark in music history! Jimi Hendrix was another artist discovered at this festival & 2 yrs later both performed at Woodstock ❤️‍🔥☮️ sadly both died at age 27 so young & unfortunately because of heavy drugs. Jim Morrison of The Doors also died @27 yrs of heart failure. These three stars are often known as The 27 yr Club 😢☮️

wow, really cool that you were plainly touched by her spirit and experience. Texas, then as now, is hard on those who don't fit in. she was voted the ugliest man at school...which gives you an idea of what she had to live with, and then got the hell out as soon as possible. so no wonder she got caught up in the rock n roll, must have been like a fantastic new life after the hell of her teen years. OTOH, that Texan hell gave her plenty to sing about.

Turn up the audio for the singer, please! I’ve seen her live twice- you’re gonna love her! Live from the Monterey Pop Festival - Ball and Chain. She worshipped the blues and soul goddesses and gods like Otis Redding, Tina Turner, Nina Simone, Aretha , Bessie Smith. She bought Bessie a new headstone after she visited her grave. ❤😊

NFW - really? You seen her live twice?!? I knew a guy back in the 70's who seen her live. He said that she downed a whole bottle of Southern Comfort on stage during her performance. I was 10 yo when she passed and didn't really discover her until my late teens. Hooked ever since. I still listen to her.

I feel the same as you do...as much as I LOVE listening to her and watching her live performances, it's hard sometimes, knowing she isn't around anymore and left us way too soon! And knowing some of the cruel things she had to deal with in her life.... But, just the same, I try not to think about it too much and just appreciate what we do have from her. She is one of my all-time favorites and puts so much heart and soul into her songs! I loved your reaction and hope you consider doing more of Janis...some suggestions: live videos of, Cry Baby (Festival Express), Ball and Chain (Monterey Pop Festival), Maybe (The Music Scene), Work Me Lord (Stockholm), Get it While You Can...Try...and Move Over (Dick Cavett Show). Thank you!

You should listen to Summertime, Cry Baby, Ball and Chain live from Monterey Pop Festival. She died at age 27 from a heroine overdose October 4, 1970, she unfortunately is a member of the 27 club. Her 1964 Porsche 356 C Cabriolet. In December 2015 her Porsche sold for 1.76 million. They say it still drives like a dream today.

Yes ... that IS Janis pictured in the video ... and yes ... she is no longer with us. She passed away from a heroin OD at 27. Janis, Jimi Hendrix (alcohol asphyxiation) and Jim Morrison (heart failure while in Paris with his girlfriend) are known and commonly referred to as the #27 Club trio. 50 years later .. that wound to their adoring fans heart seems just as painful now as it did then when the news broke of their of their passing.

She died at 27 in 1970. Listen to everything she did. Other great women: Nina Simone great jazz pianist whose most famous piece is her protest song Mississippi Goddamn. Edith Piaf (try Je ne regrette rien). Ella Fitzgerald the greatest jazz singer of all time Alberta Hunter for blues Billie Holliday for blues Grace Slick with Jefferson Airplane White Rabbit based on Alice in Wonderland is the great psychedelic rock anthem. Joni Mitchell unique and moving. Also do John Prine. Start with his song Sam Stone.
