Alex, I love how you went through and reviewed the entire device. It’s been a while since I’ve seen someone do such an amazing job I’ve been watching your videos for mini mini years. I have been an avid iPhone and android user almost continuously since the first iPhone I always had an android device, I’ve always heavily lean towards iOS but I love the curiosity of the differences between vanilla android on the pixel and the Nexus line. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work.

I switched from an iPhone XR to an S22 Ultra. I never had more than one Apple product at once, so I was never in their ecosystem. Honestly, Samsung's transfer software makes switching from iOS ridiculously easy. The only real pain point was getting people I know to re-setup their iMessage contacts to use my phone number instead of my iCloud account. Otherwise it's been smooth sailing and loving the new phone. There's almost nothing I miss from my old phone (other than the physical mute switch) and my new one continuously surprises me with all the stuff it can do and customize.

Hey the issue I have with these videos which I love by the way, is that unless it's a long term review, all the exiting features and overall experience is steeped in novelty. This is why nearly every video of someone who switches from Apple to Android and vise verse is the same in terms of it being a brilliant refreshing experience. I love these videos but I would genuinely like to know what a hardcore apple fanboy thinks of a s23u or Pickle 7 pro after a year, same for someone switching to Apple too

I wound up with an iphone 13 pro after having data\modem issues with a pixel 6 like many others, and while I didn't hate it, managing things like notifications and navigation just annoyed me. I took a chance with the pixel 7 due to generous trade-in deals for the pixel 6, and I'm glad I did. No data issues, great battery life and quality feel. While the iphone is a great bit of hardware, the software side left me unimpressed. Also Android Auto is so much better than car play IMO.

Nice breakdown. I appreciate you taking the time to list everything. I'm trying to weight it all myself right now, Pixel vs, iPhone. I would probably stay Android with Pixel if I didn't need to be familiar with iPhone for work purposes. My main complaint on iPhone is the notification system. Selecting text to copy or edit is also really bad. So much easier on Android. And yes the call log / history isn't great. I love how Google does a reverse lookup on any number you call (mainly businesses) so you can then have caller ID name & number for any outbound calls you make that aren't saved contacts. Call screening is nice as well. The more I type this the more I want to put my sim back into my Pixel.

Great video! I loved the detail you put into it and made it so intelligently without any waffling anywhere. I’m an android user of the Galaxy note series and now the s23 ultra. I started out with the first iPhone and switched when the note came out with its 3rd iteration. I’m thinking about switching to the incoming iPhone 15 promax/ultra since I’m a heavy social media user and iPhone apps are much more improved/sophisticated than Android. The only thing I’ll be missing in the iPhone will be the innovative themes which completely change the phone’s outlook and the pinching small and large text capabilities of the messaging app. iPhone so far hasn’t provided any material change in those departments. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks again for such an educational video.

How is your experience after 9 months? I'm planning to buy a new phone soon, and now that I ordered an iPad because it's more compatible with what I need for school (AirDrop with other iPads, AirPlay, iOS Apps,...), I'm seriously considering an iPhone. The iPad hasn't arrived yet so I can't say whether I'm a fan of iOS yet, but how has your experience been? What do you miss from Android and what do you prefer over Android?
@ItsYozza
@ItsYozza 9 ай бұрын
@@lxnd It's been good. I find everything just "works" e.g. seamless integration with my MacBook and other Apple devices. Things like Bluetooth just seem better too. The device just feels more premium too - build quality, speakers, camera quality, screen etc. The things I'm not a fan of are : - Lightning cable rather than usb-c, but apparently that's changing with the 15 - Stingy iCloud allowance - you get 5GB free which after your phone backup is on there doesn't leave much room for other stuff. Google gives you 15GB for comparison. You have to pay a monthly fee for more with apple. The keyboard - it just sucks. I've installed gboard on this phone. No "silent" mode. I always had silent on my android so I would still get notifications but just no vibration or sound. iOS doesn't have that - the closest I've got it a personalised "focus" setting (basically do not disturb) but it's not quite the same. Things that feel pretty much the same: Battery life - nothing special on this phone compared to my old one, even with the efficient chip - however it might be down to the fact that this phone is just higher spec My advise would be to wait for the 15 pro if you can afford it. I'll likely be getting it when it comes out too

No, none of them are as refined as their Apple counterparts and that "second to none" ecosystem but they're great options for the everyday needs of most people. Switched from Huawei P30 Pro to iPhone 14 Pro, basically to conclude that the P30 Pro is ridiculously good, especially considering it's almost 4 year old technology. The main reason I bought the P30 Pro was the camera unit. I had the Fuji XT-system but wanted something smaller for my travels. And boy, the P30 Pro delivered BIG time, especially when you pushed the boundaries (low light, and not even using the famous night mode). It was a breeze to use and had the best and most consistent battery life I ever experienced, and fast charging. So far, I see that the 14 Pro has really good software, fantastic battery life, and Face ID is just brilliant. Cameras are great in daylight, but I expected too much of it in harder circumstances. It sort of squeezes everything out of its cameras by using pretty advanced and agressive software, at the cost of transparency. And tele? 2x and 3x zoom, come on... I somehow really wanted to be more impressed hardware wise, especially for 1460 euros (256GB). Might consider something from Google or Xiaomi, just to see what it's like.

@@Babun13 everyone in the comments talks so highly let me show you my experience with a 13 for not even a year. To me other than the battery life. Way worse than android. You need subscriptions after subscriptions to have music or anything of use. Music also sounds way better through headphones on android iPhone doesn’t have the same audio driver quality. Emulators although they run really well on apple products are more of a hassle. Altstore is a thing but you need a mac or some luck with a windows pc to even activate that. Certain things like the way typing is also better on android. Safari sucks and even tho chrome is on iPhone it’s just a skin since apple doesn’t want any other browsers truly independent. For me the service has been worse than android and iPhones having the highest amount of radiation which interferes with cellular reception as well as being toxic oddly google pixel is another offender and Samsungs have some of the lowest amounts of radiation which is also why the reception tends to be pretty good. I can go on and on though. I’m going back to android and unless the tsmc snapdragons don’t help battery and the battery is way more terrible is the only way I’d come back to iPhone and that would be a huge maybe.

The only thing it truly has over is social media optimization which is starting to improve on android and battery life. But tsmc making the chips will help android a lot for that. The ecosystem is way too locked down for my liking. Even a person I live with had the 12 pro max for two years and is tired of it paying for music apple headphone this being over 100 dollars and going back to Samsung. it’s ridiculous how people get so swindled by apple I’m actually astonished. @@anmol3457The developer cannot customize each and every app for the hundreds of android phone models that exist. With iOS, all iPhones use the same GUI so they only have to make one version. Apple is strict with their apps and requires a certain level of quality that Google does not require. The Apple experience is that of an extremely refined and smooth process. Everything looks amazing and works well and there are virtually no glitches. Android always will be a step behind because the software and hardware are made by different companies and the OS can never be perfectly optimized to the hardware. That is why iPhones have smaller batteries but almost always last longer than Android phones with bigger batteries. Apple understands that balance is important. Android phones aren’t bad, they typically have 1 or 2 standout features, but are mediocre in everything else. With iPhones, you mostly get it all… you feel the refinement when you use it, and unless you have used an iPhone, you wouldn’t know.

I was using Android since the Nexus One and used it until the Pixel 4 XL. That device then had problems with the backglas and when I sent it in for the second repair they just gave me a refund. At that time the 4XL wasn’t available anymore in my country and the 5 wasn’t yet available (in addition that felt a bit like a downgrade). During that time there weren’t really many good Android phones around so I thought why not try an iPhone 12, in the worst case I could just sell. 3 years later and here we are and I’m actually planing on buying the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I actually quite like that I can’t fiddle around with custom ROMs etc. because it keeps me focused on other tasks and the phone mostly works without me having to think about it. The only thing, as you mentioned as well, is the notifications management. On iOS I feel like I’m constantly having to swipe away messages I’ve seen on other device, with Android that never happened.

I'm in the same boat right now. I was a iPhone 3G / 4 owner... then shortly after I picked up the iPhone 4, the Nexus One phone came out and I was in the Android world every since then. But after 2 misses with my last 2 Samsung Watches (bricked after firmware upgrade, and then a battery that won't charge) and now my Note 20 Ultra's back glass is literally falling off (glue break down issue from internal heat). So when the iPhone 15 comes up, I think it's time to try out the iOS ecosystem again.

I switched from a Pixel 6 to the iPhone 13 mini in February of this year. Literally the first time using iPhone. The transition, like you pointed out, was very tedious and annoying. After that was out of the way though, it has been a decent experience. The main reason I switched was because I couldn't stand the amount of bugs the Pixel 6 had when it came to things like the fingerprint sensor not working, random network drops, WiFi not working on occasion... Now after using iPhone for a fair amount of time, I'm switching back to Pixel 7 and probably won't switch back to iPhone. There are too many things I miss. One of the most major ones is call screening on Pixel. I also have a large music library of old CDs that I'd ripped which are very annoying to transfer to iPhone and it seemed to throw up region errors for me which made no sense since I literally own the files. Another issue has been downloading PDF documents from any browser besides Safari. My everyday work requires me to occasionally download documents to read on my phone and I found this to be very annoying when using Chrome on iOS. The notification management is also pretty bad with old notifications seemingly staying forever even though they have been dealt with. In general, it's not a terrible experience, but I feel quite cheated considering I paid more for the iPhone 13 mini than my Pixel 6 but still somehow got a worse experience. Also, the iPhone seems to randomly switch from WiFi to cellular which doesn't happen on my wife's Pixel in the same house. Overall, I don't think iPhones are as refined as they are touted to be with Android simply providing well thought out features and better overall UX.

Apple is just too "closed" an ecosystem for me. And I don't believe "security" is the main reason for this. If Apple were really serious about "security", they would incorporate RCS into iMessage to allow end-to-end encryption for ALL text messages, not just Apple to Apple devices. Converting text messages to SMS/MMS (which is not encrypted) subjects users to possible hacking, especially when it comes to Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) codes. Apple knows this, but refused to do anything about it because, at their own admittance, "it would hurt iPhone sales." This statement shows EXACTLY where Apple's priorities reside, and it's not with "security!"

@@D3nn1s_NL By "closed" I mean that Apple does not allow you to run their software on anything but Apple devices and Apple related websites. For example, you can't run iMessage on a Windows PC or Chromebook without jumping through 3rd party software hoops. You can't build your own MacBook and install MacOS on it. You can't install iPad OS on any other tablet except a legitimate Apple iPad. You can't install iOS or any Apple apps on any phone other than an iPhone. That is what I mean by "closed" ecosystem.

I just switched from a Realme GT 2 Pro phone to the iPhone 14 Pro Max (I went for the size). I'm not amazed, but I do like it. I think that some features or things that I don't like are things that I haven't figured out how to do it? Like the notifications, on Android, you get a series of icons on the top left part of the screen to let me know if I have some notifications, and iOS seems to not have it. If I'm not paying attention to the screen, I might miss one. Notifications are better IMHO on Android. There are some quirks going from one to the other, like photos. Contacts and mail pass without any issue, that is good.
