Seriously, what's going on here? Quality of sets aside, how many people can continue to enjoy this hobby with new products if the prices are reaching this level? A couple of grand per year is an insane ask when you compare this hobby we love to the likes of others.
But this is also genuinely meant to start a civil debate. Would love to discuss with anyone what their views are and ideally, could educate me on the matters because it doesn't make sense to me.

the small set pricing in NZ aren't that bad considering 10 to 20 % discount often happens. Although gone are the days of $20 battle pack

Depends on themes really. Used to be able to get playsets for less than $20. Prices are high, everyone agrees, I’m just confused on why some sets are cheaper depending on the country you’re in.

Awesome video! Its so annoying paying more for a set for literally no reason. I'm in Australia and agree, R2D2 and this new star destroyer are significantly more than they should be. I was expecting the Star Destroyer to be about 260-270 like the Ghost or Yavin but its 300 here which seems silly. It's like the Star Destroyer is a UCS set :(. I just wish we could get consistency with pricing

It’s the lack of consistency that’s confusing. Every Kiwi and Aussie agree the pricing is just bizarre. The set being priced the same as the Ghost and Yavin in the US but for the NZ and Aussie audience, we’re paying an extra $50-$60?

LEGO are the ones though that decide on their recommended retail price. So it is LEGO telling NZ retailers they suggest the price of $330nzd.

Oof yeah, pound sterling people have it rough too. I believe this set SHOULD be £130 odd once the price is converted but it’s actually being priced at £150 🫤

Agreed. It’s interesting too because I think releasing Rex cheap and easy is very pro-consumer so strange to see something so anti release along the same time.

@@RayLilySeries my only theory on that is Lego wants all mini figures to a extent to be available for anyone because of new people in the community and old sets retiring. Without doing the same minifig every year because of customization abilities,

The prices are different from the USA to Australia and UK due to the exchange rate. It’s a question of the dollar and the conversion. This has nothing to do to Lego. If you buy something on eBay there is a differential in price from country to country

With the exchange rate in mind though, $160USD is not $330NZD. LEGO do have suggested retail prices they send to retailers in NZ and interestingly the prices only on the ISD and Battle Pack are higher than the US prices.

It’s $300 for me in Australia, this set should have been $260 for us aussies but here we are, playscale sets that are priced in the range of UCS sets💀 Edit: until now I considered SW sets above $300 to be labelled as a D2C/UCS sets and the dark falcon will be the same price if not then $330 AUD 😢💀 I am still gonna buy them both anyway but on sale
