In the settlement of Borodianka, rescuers continue to find the bodies of residents who died under the rubble in the basements of multi-story buildings.
Most of the destroyed buildings in Borodianka are the consequences of airstrikes on March 1, when Russian vehicles had already passed through the town further in the direction of Makarov, trying to get to Kyiv, as well as block the Kyiv-Chop highway.
hromadske witnessed how rescuers pulled out a 46-year-old man, Mykola, out of the rubble. He was hiding in the basement of a five-story panel building from air raids on March 1. He was trapped under a slab when the building was bombed. His relatives, who were hiding there with Mykola, managed to run out. They told us that his cries could still be heard, but they were saving the children. Later, there were air raids again. Therefore, they heard no more sound from him. They could not reach him because of the collapsed ceiling. Rescuers here are still searching for a family of three: a woman, a man, and their 6-year-old daughter, who couldn’t get out from under the rubble as well.
In the neighboring destroyed building, relatives and neighbors are looking for two families - 8 people in total. They also hid in the basement on March 1, when the air raid took place; there has been no contact with these people. However, rescuers say there are no signs that people could have been in the place of this basement either.
Journalists and editors hromadske continue to work in each region of the war-disrupted country. They continue to work from improvised offices, shelters, and bunkers. We do so because our weapon now is the truth.
