'I thought the bench was a disgrace' said West Ham manager David Moyes on Thursday as he was left disgusted after Bayer Leverkusen role in Lucas Paqueta's yellow card.
Moyes believed the reaction led to his player receiving a yellow card which eventually will see him miss their second-leg at the London Stadium.
Bayer Leverkusen got late goals from substitutes Jonas Hofmann and Victor Boniface to top West Ham 2-0 and extend their unbeaten streak to 42 games in a season that can also end up with a treble of trophies.

I'll be honest, David. In terms of their bench, yes, they did all react to the Paqueta incident, indeed, to get him booked. But in all honesty, that is a reflection of how galvanized their group is at the moment. I ask anyone to reflect/look back to the subs we made and the subs they made. Watch when Alonso replaces Frimpong. The lad (Tello, Tella) looks like he already knows he's going to be called upon, looks engaged, looks on it, looks ready. Compare that to when you called Aguerd off the bench, he looked like he had been dragged out of bed. Like he'd forgotten he was there as a sub rather a spectator. Quite frankly, I'm not sure you have the personality to keep people mentally engaged without them being in the 11. Not good enough, I'm afraid.

There is a case that we literally didn't have enough attacking players to not play the way we did, but I said this prior, If I'm the manager of that team, at no stage am I letting that Jan window get away without signing an attacking player. I need to know what happened in that Jan window, man. If you're turning down any one of those links in Jan (Bergwein, Osman, Rowe, Zaha) you're to blame.

That was a difficult interview for Moyes. He’s right their bench should all have been booked for their antics. They won’t get it easy when they come to us. Coyi
