You must invest in a space heater Phil, make you more comfortable , when your warm you work.

Usually after an engine swap you need to do a crank to camshaft re learn procedure. This can be done on forescan. If that don't work then the other possibilities are its had a timing belt done and it's slightly out. Their extremely fussy about the timing being perfect but due to the mileage of the engine I can't see that it's had the belt done. Other option is the engine was running mountune mr230 or 265 and for that they change the exhaust cam position. To avoid codes they disable them in the map. But with all that said I think a re learn is needed and will fix it.

You should invest in a diesel heater or any kind of heater for your unit

Check timing first however I'd swap the solenoids for the variable cam timing over or at least remove them and check they are not gunked up with crud

One possibility is it could be a mountune tuned engine. If so mountune adjusted the timing by a few degrees on stage two cars.

The car is probably looking for a resistance from the temp sensor to display the temperature. The longer cable and the in-lines will have affected that resistance and therfore the temp is reading out. That would be my guess

Had a similar issue on my Peugeot 208, had belt replaced under warranty by John grose but when they handed my car back I didn’t even get out of their car park before my EML light came on, they took it back claiming to do a “relearn” on the system after belt swap….. get it back drove for 3 days and came on again it went back and they said they did yet another relearn, now had it back almost two weeks and don’t seem to be having any issues….

Temperature could be reading in fahrenheit not celsius. 46 fahrenheit = 7.7 celsius.

Phil are you sure you not got car set on Fahrenheit ? 45f is 7.5c 🤔, go to settings on menu and try resetting ? Just an idea and no expert.

When I worked in Ford software development the WDS tool had some service functions that probably need running. It’s been 10 years now since I worked on that project before moving on to support all vehicle manufacturers via VCATS.

Temperature reading is in Centigrade (C) change it in the Menu to read in Fahrenheit (F) and it's be about 7° which will be about right.... unfortunately you over thought that one mate!!!

I'm sure you have to reset the sensor. Pressing AC and AC max together for a couple of seconds then release then after a couple of minutes it calibrates itself .. I'm not 100% sure though
