Elliot is in big trouble when he secretly peeks into the operations of Ray's black market website.
From Mr Robot Season 2 Episode 5 "eps2.3_logic-b0mb.hc"
Elliot writes the FBI hack malware from Ray's computer. Darlene tells Angela that they can wipe the FBI's records connecting her to the Allsafe CD if she helps, but she declines. The parking attendant who found Tyrell's SUV fears that the FBI is onto him, so Joanna orders him killed. Elliot tells Ray that he must communicate with his previous IT specialist, "RT"; Ray reluctantly agrees and brings RT over. Dominique and her team travel to China to investigate the Dark Army's involvement in Five/Nine. There, they meet Minister Zhang, the Chinese Minister of State Security, who is actually Whiterose. After Dominique and Zhang have a private conversation in the evening, gunmen attack the office the following morning, killing most of Dominique's team. Joanna gets a phone call from someone breathing heavily, possibly Tyrell. After her ex-boyfriend Ollie sells her out to the FBI, Angela decides to aid with the hack. Elliot asks RT what happened to him and RT reveals that Ray runs a black market website trafficking drugs, weapons, and sex slaves. That night, thugs break into Elliot's house, drag him into the street, and beat him while Ray reminds him that he was warned not to look.

Ray is arguably worse. He runs a black market and ignoring everything that goes on there just for a profit. It doesn’t help the fact that kids are sold on the website with actual hitmen. But yeah, I can see what Mr Robot’s concern was here.

I loved this show man. I know Craig Robinson is mostly know for his comedic roles in tv shows and movies but he was sinister in this show. Especially when Elliot wakes up in the hospital from the beating and Ray is just sitting there discussing his dog's death with absolute no emotion

Ray was my favorite part of season 2. I remember how many people complained about the pace of the show but Daryl really made the "away" scenes so much that his characters last words always stuck with me. "I thought I was meant to help you, but it's the other way around!"

"is this Ray's if/then moment or mine" i feel like the viewer now understanding his past, he's talking about being triggered by what he sees- without knowing it explicitly and this is why Mr. Robot is trying to protect him from engaging this information more... "we have other battles to fight" isn't him just being calloused, or nervous about Ray's evil connection... he wants to protect his boy 🤞🏿

Hey! I‘m not from Germany, so forgive my sag english, but I just wanted to say THANKS! Mr. Robot is the best Show I‘v ever seen, it’s incredible. This show is just perfect and everything is thought out so well. Those many details, that are important later and especially the final episode was a mindblow. I‘v really always felt like being inside the show and Rami has done his job awesome. This show is a MASTERPIECE! THANKS TO EVERYONE!

Well, IMO before starting to learn about cyber security, you need a solid understanding of networking, programming and computer hardware. After that, try to get some hacking tools, and try to understand how, and what the tools do by either looking at the source code (if available), or by reverse-engineering them. There are also many website with hacking challenges for all skill levels.

Everything on the site was real Think about it, Ray can meet everyone in the jail who can supply him what the site needs (killers, drug dealers, human traffic, weapons) the same way he got Elliot to transfer the site to another server (at the end he got it running on Ray's office with a public IP). That's why they send a whole unit from the FBI to arrest him Illusion is Control, but it was mostly for the environment, not so much for the situations (except the illusions of Mr. Robot)

Ray was the warden, his thugs were prison guards. The guy they beat could've just been the IT guy for the prison or another prisoner whose family they were holding hostage.
