“I, Too, Am Auckland” is a student-based initiative at The University of Auckland. This video explores perspectives provided by Māori and Pasifika students across a variety of academic disciplines on solutions to everyday racism and colonialism.

I used to teach physics to medical students and the Pasifika ones were as good as anyone else and much better human beings than some of the young Tories from Epsom.

Having gone through the BHSC, and learning about all these determinants of health. It's hard to make people see privilege. Privilege is invisible. People don't necessarily understand equity. They understand equality. It's so hard to make people see these factors. I think everyone should learn about this at a younger age so they can understand this before they come into uni. Get em young, don't keep them sheltered.

***** I would recommend you take some Education papers which still statistically place Maori and PI students as "underachieving" in the education system that teaches them European-based language skills, history, social norms, etc - yet we say "Affirmative Action" is "disqualifying" more "qualified" students. Guess why I graduated from the University of Auckland ... because the education system told me I would need a tertiary education to be seen as a success. FALSE! As a teacher, I would rather have a class full of students who have a "heart" for all humankind, than a class full of students who merely have A+ on their report cards. Humbly, I can say my students leave with both regardless of their race, socio-economic background, values or belief systems.

Eli David What about Asian students in NZ? They seem to flourish in this "European based" education system, most often matching or even surpassing those of European descent. So there's a huge hole in your argument.

*citation needed... and what fields are they graduating from? because it is obviously a lot easier to graduate with an A in cultural studies than in an engineering or science field.

***** Actually, it is *your* job not his. You made a claim so it is your job to provide evidence for it. It's called the 'burden of proof'. And it rests solely on you.
