Unfortunately every race on earth is proud to be what ever they may be and pride will rule what ever they decide to say act towards any other race.whether intentional or not

So many mixed emotions watching this video! The beauty and the struggle are striking. As an African American woman, I, too, have heard similar comments and identify deeply with these students' stories. Fabulous video! Keep going and know that you are seen by many.

Disgraceful so many pakeha cannot accept Maori people. Nz claims to be god zone but in reality has an ugly racist underbelly.

I'd rather have the subtle racism here than the in your face crap they have in America. NZ is ok. There's racism within our own minority groups.

You kids need to choose ya'battles. Don't let these nothings or nobodies hold you down. Complete the opportunity of high level education. The bigger fish to fry, is remember, the board room and policy makers is where the battle is at. Yeah, this sort of "subtle" racism needs to be addressed. . . .Really! Don't worry about the minor crap. If you really believe subtle racism or any racism can be stamped out. Youth and naivety walk hand in hand. Stop wasting, time, energy or emotions with something in life we all deal with. But be fucked if it stopped my kids or my wife and I graduating from Uni. Just the moko, now to graduate 2023! Kind Regards

Education is important. Too many ideas going on in this video, discrimination, belonging and becoming a voice and a group a network working together. Make sure the idea is a good one and law abiding or end up in jail then. Lydia my sister you were brought up in Hamilton not Auckland i dont understanding that one. But its great to be associated with those who want to belong to a university of a degree. Cheer you on. As a Mormon everyone is invited to that gospel lds i am happy to see enthusiasm in education to the betterment of helping others and of identity

We don't really know either of you, but can you speak moari. Not really. Lydia. Ive heard nothing. Moari are not indigenous Lydia. Your own sister. you bullyed us and my child underprivileged education him. underprivileged in education some polish in him he suffered because of it im learning to forgive you for thanks to mormon.org. We dont know this polish man its intimating to me you are in with thier click, your both not better than everyone, my own hurt feelings but he cant speak for all pakeha and you cant speak for all moari people. Walk the talk then i will look at everything and everyone in a different light. Education is important. I agree. But be grateful for being education some cant help it if they are underprivileged. Building up the education in the underprivileged system of both child and adult in society through the educated of the world. Now thats what im grateful for. And thats the news i want to hear about others helping each other through education to better ment of society. Not all this complaining and blaming it on our dna. When the educated use there talents to build the uneducated and bring hope to others in there lives and community s thats whats awesome

That's the world today way better than the past other people's perspectives are simply their view not the rule of law of your personal life I am brown and racism happens both ways those people are uneducated when they have the experience of meeting and getting to know us they are learning they say Stupid dumb things but they don't know any better that's when you educate them properly I have done it many times & they do reach the understanding & then they apologize because they are Soo embarassed about what they understand now what they said many apologize for being white ...but this is what I say never be ashamed of who you are regardless of colour so FYI: Ignore stupidity Dumbest uneducated peoples comments but utilise every opertunity to educate them in the correct manner which means you have to stand up for equality respecting everyone equally

Awsome video, thanks for sharing. I have my own experiences of this in Aux while studying, but there was no social media, so making a stand (which would be frequent) was so much harder as you were often standing alone (as most could relate as well) and out numbered. Kia kaha children of the Pacific. Continue your fight, because unlike those who make us feel this way, we hold more responsibility on top of everything else. So the rewards for your dedication and commitment will be so much more.

This is bit of an eye opener..I'm of Pacific Island descent as well as Pakeha. I've never experienced racism or these sort of comments directed at me. I did not go to university. I can see that these sort of comments are insidious. And if you get knocked back by them, it's evil.

This world has been ruled by the whites for more than 250 years. The whites still think that the chinese, blacks ,,indians maori and the rest owe them a living. The whites think they are the smart ones. The only way out is to support china who has the might to tell the white people off. We all need china to balance power and economy with the europeans and americans in the world and also to stop racism.

My schooling was in Lower Hutt from 1983 I went to great schools. I was one of tne very few Maori/brown students in primary and intermediate,, you could count us with one hand. All my friends were pakeha (and Indian) and I have to say I never ever felt different or partitioned and I believe my teachers never treated or viewed me that way, even though I was the only kid that had occasional holes in my clothes. And when I look back at life from now, I can't recall any time that people were surprised at how well spoken I am, except for my actual family because no one else in the whanau is well spoken besides my sister and I. So maybe my experience differs because well I didn't grow up in Auckland - or maybe my experience insulated me with security, I really don't know.

No one mentioned the source of racism. Newstalk ZB, Herald, Media works, basically all. The daily rehtoric must include this: Maori or PI in court, Maori want this, Maori want that, Maori found guilty for such and such crime, Maori receive government money for such and such, South Auckland another crime taken place. If we analyse the media on daily basis you will find the answers all given to you on a plate. It's all their own self criminating articles and daily rehtoric, and it is purposely placed. If university are looking for a research paper or evidence to present to the UN in the future they need to be forming a database.
