I dropped an underwater drone in Morrison springs in Ponce De Leon, FL and was amazed at the amount of life below the water! The drone I used for this was the QYSEA V EVO!

We used a drone in a pump house at a steel mill because it wasn’t safe to use a diver and we lost the drone to a 40,000 gallon a minute pump. The office was pissed because we used the drone instead of a diver. Seems the drone was more valuable to them than us.
@budman8207Ай бұрын
Yikes, i think you’re right.
@theodoregarver494Ай бұрын
I know of an occurance of the loss of a diver at a pulp mill. If I remember correctly the plant drawings had not been updated correctly so the pump was left on while he was diving. Industrial accidents with loss of life are very serious, it is a good thing only a drone was lost in your case.
@User-yy6xtАй бұрын
@@theodoregarver494 Yeah they are and expensive. A drone is a lot cheaper than losing a diver but bean counters don’t think about that. There was a case on Lake Michigan where a diver was trapped in an intake and they wouldn’t shut off the pumps because it would cost too much to do that so they let him die. The only smart way to dive in intakes is do it when you can shut everything off or don’t go it at all.

I was doing a dive with a buddy at Lake Ouachita in Arkansas and came upon a huge largemouth hanging out between two rocks waiting on something. Ouachita fish don't seem too scared of bubble spouting divers and we got close enough before she gave way that I could see she absolutely as long as my arm from my 6'4" wide receiver elbow to extended hand and she was fat. She was at least 9lbs.

Navigating the drone, just as one navigates a ship or a submarine. Sailing is done at the water's surface where there is wind, and sails to catch the wind. 🙂 Thanks for sharing; beautiful water, great shots of the fish. 69F room temperature dry, warm; 69F wet be it lake, rain of heavy fog, sucks the heat right out of the body. Not so warm. Have been in enough glacier lakes to know that I am with your buddy; I do not relish hitting that cold water at the start of a swim.

When I learned to Scuba Dive, 35 years ago, we dove Morrison Springs on a night dive. Back then it was nothing but sand, a spring, and the wildlife! The water was cold then too! 😅 During the night dive, fresh water eels would come out of the cavern by the dozens. It was very freaky and surreal. It has really changed over the years, but still makes a nice dive spot.

I've had decorative mini ponds I dug in my yard for many years now. We're talking 3-4 diameter and maybe 18" deep. I've had so many little creatures, thousands of tadpoles every year, woodlouse and other little swimming things that I can't identify. Last summer I put in 8 goldfish, 6 are still alive after winter, they keep the water so clean. I don't have pumps or filters or anything just a hole with 2 layers of basic pond liner and rocks/flagstone around the edge. I do have solar powered fountains that float at the top that I got off Amazon.
