Will, this probably gets lost in the comments. But if you do a deload week now (esp for your legs), you should do another scan after that. It is very possible that your legs will gain lean mass because of the delayed recovery. This often happens when you overtrain for a restricted amount of time. Also, before/after is awesome, one can clearly see the fat loss.

@ashvin fair point, not everyone will like the editing style. It’d be easy to recreate the home style you’re referring to by simply removing 90% of the music and sounds effects. But both Will and I would be depressed making/watching the videos after just doing that. I try to do 50% Hollywood cinematic aesthetic and 50% raw vlog to try and get the best of both worlds. But again, not everyone will like it. Will himself tells me he loves the edits, and he tells it like it is. So I use that as a general compass

Awesome video, Will! What I learned from it is, if you want to build your arms, volume is key; if you want to build your legs, intensity is key. Now, I understand that it’s not so simple as that, and this is only what worked for Will. But the theory makes sense intuitively. It’s not difficult to recover from high-volume on the arms, but recovery is a BITCH after a high-volume leg day. Even during the workout, it takes a lot more mental energy to push through 10 sets of quads than it does to push through 10 sets of triceps. Theoretically, the volume/intensity variables are the same for all muscle groups. In practice, however, volume should be the emphasis for small muscle groups (arms, shoulders, calves), and intensity should be the emphasis for large muscle groups (quads, glutes, lats, pecs). If I’m wrong, correct me! I’m interested to hear some other perspectives.

High volume and high intensity till your cns is dead. I did that for years and it worked but it definietely made me less motivated to workout cause I would have 0 energy to do anything. It payed off tho.

It works man. I have lagging shoulders and arms. I was always worried about over training them and not having time to recover but I said fuck it! They are still lagging anyway so I started doing at least 3 sets of delts every day unless it was leg day, added an arms and shoulder day and still hit biceps and triceps during back and chest days and my shoulders definitely improved, so did my biceps and triceps in just a matter of months. I regret not doing that before.

High intensity for quads is def the way to go. Check out Yates s videos where he's training a pupils quads . 2 warm ups sets ,1failure set leg extensions 1 or 2 warm up sets , 1 failure set leg press 1 warm up set 1 failure set hack squat . And that's it for quads

I used to absolutely demolish my body at the gym; burnout sets every single day; 6 days a week. I’m getting older & recovery isn’t as easy anymore. I still go as hard as I can, but 4 days a week is a sweet spot, with cardio on my off days. Kudos to people who can sustain this type of training - it’s HARD & admirable, the amount of discipline it takes.

3.6 lb of lean gain and 1.6 lb fat loss in 30 days? Absolutely insane. You're a huge inspiration to me. I've been binge watching your videos lately, since I got into strength training a few months back. I've been sedentary for decades (pretty much my entire life, 34 now) due to Charcot Marie Tooth, a neurodegenerative muscular dystrophy. Doctors have told me all along that I can't build muscle, it's impossible for those with CMT, and to just accept my fate, but I have a friend that does strong man competitions (Mississippi Strong Man champion last year!), and I just decided to give it a go one day after hearing all of his success. Months later, I've built a ton of muscle and strength. I'm reconnecting to muscles I thought didn't exist, and my balance and coordination has improved so much. I know this video is a year old, but just wanted to share that after hearing your results. Thanks again for being such a huge inspiration.

This was one of the best vids you did in awhile. I was hoping to hear something about what your views are now about the lateral raises everyday thing. Was there no noticable diff?

Sorry, we had to cut that segment due to video runtime constraints but he said the Asian woman thought that his waist got smaller, when in reality his shoulders just got bigger from the lateral raises. By accentuating his V-Taper, it was able to create that effect. Sincerely, Editor

This is actually how I had been training as a natty. I had the same issues with 6 days a week and the sheer volume. It seemed impossible to recover from. But the gains, I look better than I ever have after 5 months of doing it. I have cut back now though, only doing 1 hour sessions 4-5 days a week instead of 2 hours 6 days a week. I don't regret cutting back, I am still gaining muscle but I can manage it.

One thing I'm curious about is how Will managed the intensity across the 4 weeks. 4 weeks is a good period of training but I feel like a lot of the fatigue could have been managed by starting at a higher RIR (reps in reserve) in week 1 and climbing up in intensity steadily each week, essentially "peaking" in week 4 while accumulating a ton of good volume and stimulus. Loved the vid 👍

Your body gets used to it. I remember I was very unmotivated at a point when I had 0 energy when trying to do dorian's intensity mixed with Arnold's prep volume. For 2 months I wasn't improving, but then I realized, that it wasn't getting worse either. I was plateuing but I could still lift the same weights which was surprising. At around 5-6 months in I had gained 10lbs of muscle even tho I had made 20lbs the year before so it wasn't newbie gains.
