I’ve never had trouble understanding you but, I’m always happy when people get good microphones. Using EQ can improve the sound and clarity of speech as well as make many microphones sound better which I’m sure you already know. I saw a video of someone camping microphones and EQ and how good you can make even inexpensive microphones sound.

English is not my mother tongue, me too, but I never had difficulty understanding you. The words are clear, precise and appropriate for any audiophile that we are. There will always be negative reviews, these people don't understand: we are here for the audio not for the pronunciation, damn it! Keep up the great work! I have a Denafrips Ares 2, Hegel H190, iFi Zen Stream and plan to get Arendal 1723 soon, although I ordered SVS Prime Pinnacle for an audio trial. These SVS are half the price, but I think I'll be tempted by the Arendal given your review and that of Jay Iyagi, like that of Audioholics... The sound and the pleasure of listening must take precedence over everything! Keep up the great work

Every reviewer that I held up high has praised Arendal and I have started to covet a pair of 1723. I have gone from stand-mounts to high (92 dB) sensitive floor-standers and I'm probably not going to turn back. The dynamics and the "live" feeling the big speakers gives me is pleasure to experience. Small ones can sound fantastic and when they do you want more! but they can't give you more 😞 As iiWi said here, high sensitive floor stand speakers have the ability to sound great at low listening levels making them excellent for home cinema/TV as well. After a lot of reading and youtube watching about the Arendal I came to the same conclusion as iiWi - this is a pair of speakers you can build your system around. Time to get the instant noodle diet going and save up for a pair.

Hi everyone and many thx to Srboljub for willingness to review these speakers. Btw, I am soontomeetfriendownerofthespeakers and here are couple of additional things which some of you may find interesting about Arendals. The cabinets are made from HDF (high pressure dencity), not MDF boards, so that is why they are quite heavy and sturdy. As for the looks, I agree that there were no Italian designers involved, but on the other hand, they have grills with magnets, which is a nice touch. I personally bought them because I have a big room and these speakers are supposed to shine with more air. People from Arendal suggested to use good class D amplifier for some additional strength, which I will most probably do with LSA WARP 1. Having that in mind, I noticed that you have new DAC and preamp from Acoustic Invader on your rack. These look fantastic and I am sure they sound great, but way above my budget at the moment. Talking about budgeting, Arendal is not clear about shipping at their webpage, which means additional 380 € for DHL as Serbia is not a part of EU, and 10% more for custom fee as they were not made in Norway, but in China. Nobody can be sure if they are going to be satisfied or not, but it is worth to try, especially because there is a 60 days return policy, if you don't like them. Furthermore, I would like to try build a system around these speakers using R2R dac, especially Audio GD R-28, RME Adi-2 fs or Gustard x26 pro. Have a great day everyone. Radomir (one more similar sounding LOTR characters).

One of the things that fascinates me is how many of us went from exclusive floor-standing speaker listeners, to exclusive- or near-exclusive stand-mount speaker listeners. There were great stand-mount speakers a generation ago and a lot of us never heard any of them on principle.

I have the 1723 THX Monitors (my preference) and SVS subwoofer. My search is over for speakers as for me they are superb in every way. Arendal themselves have said in an Audioholics video, if you have a good subwoofer the Monitors are a better bargain. Keep in mind, the monitors and floor standers are THX Ultra certified so either version will play louder than your ears can withstand.

Thinking about getting 3 of these monitors for my front sound stage. I have two 3 channel amps. One is 140 watts per channel other is 300 watts depending on ohms. Should I keep the Emotiva XPA-3 over the bassx A-3 for these speakers? I have two sealed svs ultra 16's to compliment them.
@lights80088
@lights80088 5 ай бұрын
@@jacobsteele7138 Unfortunately I am not familiar with those amps. These speakers are not hard to drive though. I'm using a Hegel H-190, 150 watts into 8 ohm and 250 watts into 4 ohms. Hegel volume control is 1 to 100, 100 being loudest. I can'tgo above 60, that's plenty loud for me. I don't think either or your amps would be an issue. Even if you prefer extremely loud, I really don't think you be short on power as long as your amps have good "headroom". I would think the Emo's are good in this department.

I really do think the R700's are a fantastic speaker but I think these are are very good improvement. You are correct the 1723 are very revealing with great imaging and separation but really smooth and juicy not bright. I find everything you describe is what I am hearing. NO SUB NEEDED is one of the most important factors when I am shopping for speakers. I am using Mcintosh tub pre and Mcintosh solid state amp. I am truly hearing things in the recording I did not hear before but it's not bright or fatiguing. Thank you for your review on these speakers.

So I’m considering a home theater overhaul, and my budget for the front towers is about 3k. Right now the top three on my list due to imaging, soundstage, and neutrality are the Arendal THX S, the KEF R11(non-meta 2800$), and the Q Acoustics Concept 50. I like the Q Acoustics Aesthetically, but like that the other 2 have actual bass extension below 40hz for the same money. Unfortunately there’s no way to audition towers without spending hundreds on return costs, so I’m kind of at a loss.

Hi Srboljub. Shipping is free only to Europe and Continental US+Canada. Everywhere else shipping is quite expensive, as I found out when trying to order the 1723 S THX monitors to the Caribbean. An MTM tower speaker *used* to be fairly common. But for what ever reason, tower speakers of any sort are less numerous these days. I tend to prefer tower speakers - you can get more bass extension in the same/similar footprint. The main feature of the MTM (aka D'Appolito) is the two midrange drivers have vertical cancellations, that prevent some early reflections off the floor and/or ceiling.

Pros - it sounds very neutral tonally and it is very revealing. Cons - with speaker this big you can't really do a nier field setup. So you can't avoid influence of your room which is very strong, especially in the bass region. There's a reason most mastering engineers use headphones or smaller speakers in near field.

@iiWiReviews
@iiWiReviews Жыл бұрын
I never heard Rubicon 8 so can't compare them. As for the demo, I did some of those before but it's difficult to hear anything that way... Think of it like this. If I am recording Arendal 1723 with my microphone and you are listening with a set of Monitor Audio Bronze 2 speakers... What you're hearing is 80% your speakers, 15% my microphone, and 5% of Arendal... If Arendal produce 20Hz bass and your speakers can't, you can't hear it, if it creates huge soundstage and your speakers don't, you can't hear it, etc. Only different tonality (dark, bassy, bright...) can be nicely heard trough the recording.

Let me help you with my solution to expensive full size speakers. You are accustomed to softer, unnatural bass with bookshelf speakers. It is my experience that 15" paper woofers make full, natural base. Even my 4' towers with dual 6.5" speakers have unnatural base. The average kick drum is around 22" diameter. My active subs don't sound natural either. I bought used Marantz speakers ($75) with 15" woofers and disconnected the tweeters and mids. My Emotiva BasX has a high pass switch (I think around 100 hz) and it sends lows to sub out RCAs. I plug in an Aiyima A07 to power the woofers, thus have tone control. With this setup, you can plug in any bookshelf speakers and place them the same as before. I use Danish Triad Bronze LCR MTMs because I found them for $100.

I Really wanted to buy the Arendal 1723 Towers and centre channel but when I put them in the cart I realised two things, on top of the cart price I would likely pay 10% GST Goods and Services Tax plus potentially an importation tax (though I don't think so, I will check) and Arendal wanted $1,530 AUD for shipping charge to Australia. That would mean a minimum of $7000 AUD and I don't know how the Arendal trio would compare to speakers of a similar value bought within Australia. Having said that, your review is making me think maybe these Arendal speakers are not only comparative with commercial branded speakers of that price range but they sound much less of a risk given I'm not able to physically go and hear any speakers I'm considering buying? My tweeters sounded a bit rolled off so I was thinking how I might improve them. I had been in the "cables don't matter camp" but I thought I'd give it a shot. Sam Ash had 100 foot of 14 gauge professional speaker wire for $75 and 8 banana plugs were $25. Previously, I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken. This time I was completely wrong. News flash, pro wires are better than lamp cord. It was as if I added an additional dac just to the tweeters. They were no longer rolled off, more detailed, spacious, and transparent. Shocking. Since I bi-amp my speakers, the gauge is fine. I might go with 12 gauge for a single wire. I am so happy.

@@chriss881000 Cardas Copper for one. Oxygen free (or nearly so) copper is purer and yes, can offer sonic improvements you can hear in a good system (if you have good hearing). Using a lower gauge (thicker) wire can also improve things by lowering the resistance per foot significantly over 18-gauge lamp cord. Using good quality interconnects that don't create any PIM or bad discontinuities can be a good thing as well. Electricity is after all the flow of electrons and any information an electromagnetic wave contains. The less hindered that flow is, the better. Then you have better cables that are shielded. Not everyone needs such shielding perhaps but in noisy environments they can offer a nicer, quieter signal with a darker background. Snake oil? Not really. It can be heard and it can be measured. There's probably little difference between a $200 cable and a $2000 one, but there is a large difference between "lamp cord" and a $200 well-constructed cable.
