I’m so baffled by this! I don’t make 3D models but I can’t imagine that it’s that hard (at least for doors) to just make the model slightly larger or smaller and re apply a slightly larger wood texture to it. If anything I’d expect them to give every height possible for doors (and every shape for windows) because they could re use parts of old assets to do it, and then be like “look how many items there are in this kit, what a great deal guys, buy it!”. I’ll never understand EA, it’s like they want us to be angry...

I think it matters more if it is a kit because if it’s a kit it has less things in it so it should 100% match other things that we already have or just things in the best game. It’s OK if something in a pack doesn’t match other things but if it’s a smaller DLC then it definitely should match based game items

as a person that worked as an SMM specialist for companies, I can say that most of the time you're not even included in the conversation abt all the new developments. you learn abt them from an employee of an employee 5 hours before the deadline, and ppl that actually need those tweets/instagram posts done don't even remember (or know) you exist. I got "fired" once (they didn't get enough funding, so they made it clear it wasn't my fault and that they might get back to me eventually if I still want to work for them lol), and 4 days later I got a call from one of the higher-ups. she was asking if I still make posts for their company... she didn't know that no one was managing their SM for like a week or so. and then I had to be the one to send her all the passwords and grant her admin role on the fb page (that no one knew who had access to) even though I wasn't even working for them anymore. this happens a lot more often than you'd think.

@@daydihey3045 Yeah the average idiot always assumes for some reason that companies are like perfect entities. They do everything absolutely perfectly no matter what. So every little detail that isn't "right" is suddenly "bad business", "cash grabbing", etc.. They'll gladly bash companies for even the slightest mistake, but meanwhile if a *person* makes a mistake we're supposed to forgive that and just accept that people make mistakes.. however because this is a company suddenly the rules are different?? The main thing here is while the window thing was a mistake, they're willing to fix it and give us that window in an update.. and somehow STILL people aren't happy? They could have simply been like "look it was a mistake, the window was an old idea that got scrapped and we're not using it anymore." and we get absolutely nothing.. Also, it's completely possible they did want to include that window but were under a deadline to release the kit. So they had to cut it, but still had it in the advertisements and everything without time to change them. They could have always intended to do a small update later to add the window - we'll never know. Either way people aren't happy for literally no reason other than idiots want to be mad at a company for something.

@@daydihey3045 that's honestly wild lol, my roles are usually part of the art department of companies, being an animator. So I know we don't know what SMM's will do with our work, or whether our work will even make it to the final product.

@@Eventide215 I 100% feel you. I'm an animator by trade currently at a very big company, and 3D generalist by skill. And make unity games for a hobby. I used to make awful cc as a teen and the sims 2 body shop taught me all about texture mapping lol. Now as an adult and as someone working in the 3D industry, there are some things that I do look at in the sims (and most games/film) and go "I could do better"there are furniture items that I *know* took like an hour to extrude a few polygons. Hairs that are duplicated and altered with either the soft select or sculpting tools in Maya. I can see it lol. But what people don't realise is that for games modelling, almost every item requires at least 2 versions of the model for LOD's (level of detail - when you zoom out, the model gets crustier until it gets culled/disappears). So for a stuff pack with 10 items, you actually have 20-30 models and a lot of textures. **And then on top of all of that!!** You've got the businessmen running the show who can't draw a stick man, sending stuff back because they can't describe what they want but what you made was not what they had in mind. TL;DR: the issue is bad communication and businessmen thinking they're creatives... but there are some things that I could definitely make in an hour 👁👄👁

honestly i feel like even concept wise it wasnt very smart. the previous build kits fulfilled a niche that we didnt have in game (well country kitchen was kinda fulfilled with cottage living but at the time of its release it was entirely new) whereas we already have industrial styles. i feel like if they wanted to expand on that style it would've made a lot more sense to include it in a game or expansion pack 🤷🏻‍♀️

I agree. Sadly, just like with them making empty packs and not fixing bugs for months (has everyone forgotten when for like a year sims couldn’t get married if you had the pack with butlers???) many people will buy these things so EA doesn’t care. I used to be like that too, I think our Sims fan base is vulnerable to these things because it includes children, people who don’t play other games (less likely to have a concept of what they should be getting for their money), and people who are emotionally attached to the series and just want to enjoy their game without avoiding content they like to fight EA. Those are are pretty reasonable situations for those people to be in so I don’t think they’re at fault, but as a result we’re too disorganized to band together as a fan base and force EA to treat us right by “striking”. Personally I’m hoping to pirate (please get a good vpn if you do this!) because I want what was advertised (a lively game full of things to do). Custom content and mods are also great, but it’s frustrating to have to constantly update a mod folder just to make the game playable. Fingers crossed for some angel of a CC creator to edit all the wood tones to match (I’d certainly pay someone who isn’t EA to do this!). Much as I hate to admit it, I think we’re a little stuck since EA knows what we’re like, to the point that things they could do to make us happy at no cost to them will never happen. On the bright side, go modders and go pirating!

Either it's a running gag or I think they swap items/concepts between packs all the time. The plates from snowy escape are called "paranormal plates?" and a tea set that, to me, seems very Japanese inspired came in the paranormal pack. There's bunnys and acorns on the patterned men's shirt from the interior decorator pack and I feel like there's more, too. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.

The photography studio in Moschino is really great for storytelling. I place the cameras in most community lots. I would start with that one.

I agree! I also like the other one since I think it could match the “mission” style windows in base game... if it had matching swatches and a thicker trim. However, Kayla said that this window isn’t the same width (cant stack them) as the “mosquito” pack so I’d make sure that the trailer window matches enough for your liking before you buy the kit.

Even if they didn’t bring that back, I wish they’d have a universal swatch system and swatch selection for parts of items. At that point why not throw in a color wheel, but they seem to hate color wheels so I guess not. Since all the swatches already exist and the models have separate parts already, I just don’t understand why we can’t have a full menu with every swatch of that “type” (eg wood) and just select favorites so that we don’t have to open the menu each time. No loading problems from color wheel’s uniqueness, and maximum customization.

I think bringing back the sims 2 style swatch selection would work where, with bed for example, you can choose the frame colour and the sheet pattern separately so it's easier to match furniture pieces without needing to have crazy swatches.

Same! I wish they’d just spend like a dedicated three months to fixing things. Straight up just a “We’re Sorry” update. Fix unmatched swatches (swatch click and drag anyone?), add an apartment section to the gallery, fix bugs, add cars (without an open world I don’t even want them personally but the models exist so it would be easy and make many players happy), let sims carry their babies (they pick them up to cuddle, just stop the animation with baby on arm, that easy), add strollers for babies and toddlers (one 3D model and wheel animation, everyone is happy), fix the damn toddler tango around high chairs, stairs, and baths, the list goes on and on. Not even getting into easy ways to make the packs more like they’re advertised...

I’m also 100% convinced that they straight up don’t have playtesters, so I think your “checking their work” complaint is totally accurate

@@ScenicNsanity As someone who works in the software development industry I can assure you releasing a product full of bugs is considered highly unprofessional. Any reputable company would have several tests on their product to find and fix the issues before release. EA obviously has the resources, yet they keep releasing unfinished packs where half the functionalities either don't work or glitch most of the time, definitely a bad look for the company, it shows they don't care about quality.

Some CC creators are making better versions of some kit items anyway, so I doubt we’ll be missing out on anything except bugs!

I feel that way in real life, but not in the sims. Since I don’t buy all my furniture at the same time from the same company, it doesn’t match and that’s okay. I buy complimentary shades when possible, occasionally stain or paint things, and live in the space that I have happily because I’m not always staring at the six different wood tones in one room. It’s different in the sims because I have to see all the items all the time. I wouldn’t mind a “distressed” swatch for items like tables like the window has so that they could not match, but I’d prefer if items had cohesive color options too. Or if they’d just introduce swatch click and drag from one item to another, so that everyone could be happy...

It depends. Yes, I'm fairly certain illegal but the law won't really go after someone doing false advertising unless someone activly goes after them or it threatens someones life ex. medicine. I live in America and the only cases I've heard about is where medicine companies false advertise their medication, which procedes to put people in danger. Some people sue for things like the sims not putting the window in, but with the amount of money it takes most dont think its worth the effort.

It’s not an English word, it’s a brand name, so it doesn’t follow (the already convoluted) English pronounciation rules. This kit is seriously the first time I’ve seen her be overall negative about something that she could’ve been positive about without angering everyone (since nobody could’ve praised My First Pet, and Batuu was out of her field of interest). I don’t know if I’d say thrown out of game changers, but it does feel like she’s become more willing to express frustration and critiques with EA without ending on a positive note. Definitely something to keep an eye on in the future.
