I, an actual grandma, hears that I have to climb a ladder to access the evil lair and shudders. I can be as evil as the next grandma, but i ain't climbing ladders. I might fall and break a hip.

what if hacker grandma truly isn’t even a grandma? she’s actually deep uncover as a grandma and when she gets up into her hacker room she can peel off her disguise and get down to business
@NickKzig
@NickKzig 3 жыл бұрын
I thought of that too. in my version it would have an electric chair instead, like those chairs that can be attached to stairways. I think that plays with an evil hacker better, and it's sillier to imagine her laughing manically while it slowly escalates into her hacker lair.

It was the first room that was originally built onto the house and they don't really use it but it's accessible through a staircase in the basement. Cat bed with your hoodie would absolutely work! My relative actually does have a secret room. Two secret rooms. They live in a house in the countryside, and it's one of a set of houses built by the same family (in the early 1800s). For the one that's really secret, you have to pass a little door in a wardrobe to get in. It was used as a play area for kids for a long time. The other one was made for guests or travelers on horseback. It's pretty much an annex, and there isn't a door to get into the main house so they won't steal stuff at night.

There are trap doors on the floor/ceiling to get in there but the room is only like 1m tall and it's kind of hard to get in there since you can only open it from the bottom aka the ceiling -> you have to climb on the kitchen counters and everything to get in.

My grandpa custom built their house. He made a specific room over the garage for the kids called “the play room” but really it was a huge space for toys (when we were younger) and our video games and a TV just for us kids. The best part of it is it had a SECRET PASSAGE WAY to get in through a bedroom BOOKCASE DOOR!!! The door led to the a small hall that had low ceilings that opened up into a normal sized room. Loved that house.

I have a bookcase door. Built it myself, hides my laundry room/closet. Nothing interesting in there, I half built it because I wanted a secret passage somehow, and half built it because having a door there was awkward and I really needed a bookcase. It's just a shallow bookcase with a piano hinge on caster wheels. It doesn't lock or anything, you can just push it open, and it's heavy so it stays put wherever I leave it. I keep showing it off, but no one thinks it can move, so it does actually work as a secret door. I love that kind of stuff.

And her grandson room is still in her home and her grandson comes and visited all the time and helps with the plants and dogs. (I thought it was clever for making her a crazy dog lady and not a crazy cat lady, and her hobby is basically make her home a overflowing green house/gardening. So- Yeah-

Funnily enough, when we were kids, my brother did have a secret room off his bedroom. It was actually hidden by a set of two bookcases that you pushed apart to reveal the room. It was a small room with a slanted roof so we made it into a den type space with a built in daybed and a few bookshelves plus storage. When we moved in, it wasn’t hidden but was a small storage room in one of the house’s dormers. When we were about 10, my mum wanted to refurbish parts of the house after my parents divorce and my brother asked for the room to become a secret room. For whatever reason, my mum agreed and they designed the room and it’s hidden door based on what they thought would be cool hence the bookcases.

@@missundies A large part of that is due to the other worse people that think if they ignore the problem (dumb idiotic people online) that it will suddenly go away.. so people end up feeling like they can get away with just about anything online. When I was working as a nanny I went with the family to tour houses that they were looking to buy. We saw one house with a bookcase door- it was in the father's office and clicked into the wall, so you had to push on the right spot to get it to open. It opened to a stairway down to the basement where there was essentially a massive entertaining area- movie theater, games room, wine room, etc. It was pretty awesome.

Okay you asked for it, near Pittsburgh PA there’s a place called the Bayernhof Museum. This is a description from the website, “This extremely unique, 19,000 square foot museum (the former residence of Charles B. Brown, III, the Museum's founder) houses a world-class collection of music boxes and other antique automatic music machines, as well as many other fascinating items. The building itself provides guests with a most enjoyable experience as they pass from one unbelievable room to another, at times through hidden doors and secret passageways.” This guy literally made a cave for a basement and has a secret passageway to an indoor pool (complete with waterfall). It was probably the most unique place I’ve ever visited.

You should build a cat cafe right next to a bowling alley on the same lot. The bowling alley can have a bookcase door that leads to the secret speakeasy that has been there since the twenties. Then you could put a cupcake machine in the kitchen of the cat cafe, and both buildings could have glass roofs. And at the beginning of the stream act like they aren’t going to like the build but don’t tell them what it is, just let them figure it out as you build... Just to mess with them.

Person with secret bookcase doors here, they are indeed smaller than regular doors. The ones I have actually have to be lifted out of the wall every time anyone wants access which isn't a good setup because I prefer the shelf space to weird little room no one could reasonably stand up in. Eventually, the plan is to put them on hinges and make a secret mini library/closet space. I assume that any furniture will have to be assembled inside since definitely nothing's getting through that door already assembled. But yeah, they just look like ordinary bookshelves in the wall.

Honestly, the bookshelf room in my grandma's house is just the same size as a normal door so furniture isn't too hard to fit in. But leading to that same room, she also has this mini door leading to it and from the bedroom it is in she has a small door that opens into a cabinet into the living room next to the bedroom. It's pretty dang fun going through and just appearing out of a cabinet in the wall.

This made me think about my grandmothers appliances, and how weirdly high quality/new they were. I never understood what people were talking about when they complained about their grandparents having old stuff, because I’d go to my grandmothers house and she had a giant sub zero fridge/freezer. I just though grandmas were supposed to have nice appliances, and then I learned later she was defrauding the SSA and wasn’t telling the family. So...I had an evil grandmother? Which fits this video perfectly. I’d love to look around her house now to see what she had stashed away. I wouldn’t put it past her to have a secret room!

Beneath the gross litter box would be a great place to hide an entrance to a secret room. Only neat sims are going to touch that voluntarily and they‘ll get distracted by some puddle or smelly dish before they can discover the secret room anyway (or by the litter box that - once again - requires cleaning).

My cousin's study room/cop uncle's mini library room was behind the only bookcase door I have ever seen in their home in CA. It was in the finished lower level off a nook used for his treadmill which was off an open space family room with kitchenette for when relatives stayed over (hi *wave*). It was just big enough for a desk and a few tall bookcases but 9-yr-old me thought the bookcase door was the coolest thing in the world!

My grandmas family had a house with a secret room. Her cousins room was the secret room so every day they would have to crawl into the small door hidden in their siblings bedroom closet. It was a fully furnished bedroom but the only entrance was the small crawlspace type door in the closet, but it did have a window. So basically they had to tie the furniture with ropes and haul them up the side of the house and pull them in through the window. I think originally the room didnt have a window but it was later added for safety reasons. It was a super old house in upstate New York.

Grandma is actually a former secret agent, and her husband too. A movie was based off of his life, but she and their closest friends from the old times are the only ones that knows that. After her husband died, grandma started adopting lots of cats, in honor of his kindness to animals. The hacker room is for her research on the mysterious strangerville plants, that she suspects about. Grandma is not evil, she's just a kindly hacker (we exist too 😢)
