In our local area, we pass down our prize pack bulk and bulk collection cards whenever new players show up. Most of us build commoner decks for the store to pass out when we're not there. Good luck on your journey.

I'm playing FaB for over a year now. I don't play mtg anymore and sold my cards. I got frustrated with the way Wotc is going and someone showed me the fab and i loved everything about it. The community is great, there are a lot of events with good prize support and i like all the limited and constructed formats. I love the ressource systems, there still are auto wins and losses depending on matchups but i feel like skill matters more than in mtg and there is less variance. my maindecks are like 50 bucks then i have the expensive staples and then there are the class equipments and i like my cold foils so my most expensive deck is guardian but i didn't need to drop 1k on it, i actually won more games with a warrior deck that costs like 200 bucks legendary equipment included. And that was before reprints. Im from the eu so prices may vary quite a bit compared to the US, FaB is quite popular in central and western europe.

@@chad0x Same, sold all of my MTG stuff in a heartbeat after I played a few games of FaB. No dead turns or complete auto-losses makes the game so much more fun/balanced. Of course there are still bad matchups, but the fact that you can sideboard before the game starts is a big help.

+1 but i gave away all my cards (not too much, around 4k EUR in cards) to a local shop so they can have prices for tournaments FaB's being great but i dislike the low amount of draft we do in my area ): and i struggle to learn things like pitch stacking the deck and other not-so-beginer-friendly-tricks

I went to my local gamestore to try FAB for the first time on thursday and unfortunately was a little late so I missed the start. I did get a chance to watch and learn the basics tho and everything u said was consistent with what I was told. Ill probably go back next week and try to get a few games in but the community was very welcoming and it seems worth a try

The FAB community is GREAT, really welcoming always. The game itself is *amazing*. The problem Magic has always had is mana screw or flood. FAB does not have those problems. You *always* have decisions to make. It's simply a better game than Magic. And this from someone who has been playing magic since 1994.
@TheTacticalBat

I couldnt agree more. As someone who started playing magic when mana burn was still a thing, I agree that FaB is better game as far as how it operates and is designed. I hope more MTG players give it a shot, everyone I've showed the game to has absolutely loved it. Also it has the best community, everyone is super nice and helpful. It's a welcome change to alot of my MTG organized play experiences.

It depends on the format honestly. The older the mtg format the less likely that is to happen because of powerful cantrips and filtering. In modern or better yet legacy you can almost always guarantee having exactly the amount of mana you need.

@Vioar sure, but how much does that kind of mana base cost.

It is super cool that you can hop in FaB with a competitive deck that doesn't rotate for $50! I've been looking into the officially supported commoner format for learning the game and most of those decks run $6-12. :) #FirstTimeFleshAndBlood

Glad you had a good time! Draft was so tricky at first, it's a wholly different gamesystem and evaluating cards is so tough in the beginning. But it makes exploring archetypes by playing against them pretty exciting. Also really cool that you actually looked into the prices from a reasonable standpoint, many people just notice there's very expensive cards and proceed to shoot on how stupid the game is for that design 😅 but actually besides the easy budget start even if you acquire some it has advantages and I appreciate the system quite a bit after some time with it. Glad the mood of the fanbases equals out a bit, I noticed a lot of harsh tones before from bitter Magic players so that I always feared some content creators bring it up again because most didn't even took the barest of time to look at the game. Both games are great and I'm glad I found a game I actually have more fun with on the regular.

#1stTimeFleshAndBlood Glad to see you try out the game and enjoying it. A new set is dropping soon, so maybe this will make the word spread even more. I personally started May 2021 and have enjoyed it ever since. Another part of the costs for FaB, the expensive generic equipment can be used with any hero. The total cost of a competitive deck can range $200-600. Versus competitive modern MtG decks, can be $1000 and you only get the one deck.
@chad0x
@chad0x Жыл бұрын
And FAB cards dont rotate out, ever! Living Legend status is a thing but they bring out new heroes so you get to use your cards again! Awesome. A game that doesnt try to fleece the players.

In FAB, the generic legendary cards are more expensive but the difference is tiny. Like you can block for 2 instead of blocking for 1. Its *that* tight. You can buy precon blitz decks (15 minute games) for about $10.
@TheTacticalBat
@TheTacticalBat Жыл бұрын
It would be nice to see people normalize non-legendary equipment decks. You can still have a good deck without any legendary equipment, yet alot of people think/say you have to have them. Here's the thing, you don't. Yes they are helpful if you want to play in bigger organized events, but if you're just jamming games with friends there is no need for them.

@TheTacticalBat
@TheTacticalBat Жыл бұрын
Best suggestion I can make is bring your FaB playgroup into the store frequently to play. It will get the attention of others and hopefully your group will grow enough that the store notices and becomes comfortable with bringing on a new product line. LGSs have to make sure there is a demand for a game before they buy product and support it. It is a big investment/risk for stores so make sure to demonstrate that there is a demand. If you can do that it should be easy to get regular events scheduled.

5:20 i like the comparison, but its even more complex then just that. cards in MTG are usually STRICTLY better, a lightning bolt deals 3 dmg, a shock 2 and that's it. both cost the same, have the same rarity and almost the same effect, one is just strictly better. you have that a lot less in FaB because of how the resource system is made, no card feels useless, there isn't really 'draft chaff' that is worse then anything else so to say. draft chaff does exist in FaB but then its more because you already own 100's of them then that its because the cards are strictly 'bad'. what i love about FaB is even if a card seems weak for example a blue pitch buff your attack or weapon for +1, whilst the red pitch gives +3 can still be incredibly useful depending on how the rest of the deck is constructed. maybe the meta shifts to a spot where you'd rather have the extra resources in the deck then the +2 /3 buff, or to one where the +1 screws just enough with certain match ups to make it viable whilst retaining its good pitch value, there is just endless flexibility here. most expensive cards in FaB are either hard to get and a lot of people want them (Legendary's) or they offer an insane amount of flexibility and power for being a Generic card allowing them to act as filters/buffs for the other cards your class (Command&Conquer. Art of War, Enlightened Strike) But this leaves a lot of room to brew, try out and experience, create new meta's etc. and because the most expensive cards are usually generic, once you've invested in them and have them its easier to build a deck of a different class of that same competitive level. this makes the step into FaB a bit expensive, but the investing after that entry point cheaper. i've played mtg for more then half my life and i've loved it. but recently i've started playing and enjoying FaB a lot more. i miss the drafts, sealed deck, and pressure fast matches of days of old, and FaB scratches that fun 1vs1 no social deals, just two warrior's trying to bash each others heads in feel, and that competitive itch that Commander can't reach. i'll certiainly keep playing MTG, but for the competitive feel, i'm fully on board the FaB train now.

This game is very skill based. As I got better at this game, I severely underestimated my agency. Not having the expensive cards will not stop from winning an event. At top level, I would say it’s 80%-90% skill and the rest is luck. In magic you would expect certain teams to make top eight at a GP but in flesh and blood there would be specific people that you would expect to make top eight at the same level of event (a Calling). That being said, the skill intensity makes CC a format that is not well suited for casual players. Thankfully they give a lot of support to draft and blitz which is much more varienced for the less competitive players.

On the deck builds and pricing your right and your very very wrong. So this is how it works. You can build a top teir deck for about 50 bucks. Because you have the normal card (usually like 5 bucks or less), then the rainbow foil (sometimes not always 10 or so), then the cold foils (These are collectors cards and these will shoot into the stratosphere sometimes). Now its all the same card, with all the same powers and all the same everything. EXCEPT the foil. Also their is a thing called "History 1" out right now with more coming out as the sets go on. "History" Boosters cover the last three sets of the game with the most popular cards. BUT they dont have any foils in them and they are no more or less expensive than a MTG booster box. So your right, but your wrong too.
