Hi Alice, I've been eager to see this video and am happy you had such a promising outcome. I started using the bifida ampoule a month ago myself, in addition to the mist and sheet masks. My skin looks brighter and feels smoother and that is already more than I expected. I agree that the ampoule is the thing to get excited about here. Thanks for the review!

Which ones? I did try and enjoy the TTO version, although I impulsively gave them away to someone who had acne and struggled to find time in the AM for skincare (I’m the opposite of an impulsive buyer; I am an impulsive giver 🤣) SO yes they’re especially nice for speeding up a routine!

Lovely explanation and review! I've found myself falling for manyo lately, and I love the ampoule and cleansing oil as much as you do! I was also able to try their bifida mist, which has another stacked ingredients list! Their herbgreen shampoo smells HEAVENLY, and I recently purchased their exfoliating toner options (galactomyces clear skin toner and the pore and blackhead toner) and I am excited for them to arrive! I really feel this brand has effective formulas and also care a lot about user experience!

Great video, as someone with dry skin it’s hard to find a good moisturizer that isn’t too thick or not moisturizing enough that also comes with a decent amount of product that doesn’t break the bank. I just started using the barrier strength cream mainly for the liquorice root since I’ve got hyperpigmentation and it’s fine so far, haven’t noticed much difference yet. Would love to see a video of your recommendations on dry skin focused hyperpigmentation creams that I can mix with my Beauty of Joseon retinal eye cream! Lol so many serums and ampoules that target what I’m looking for but not a lot of creams that fit my description I’ve noticed.

Thank you for the review, I have been trying the ampoule, toner and water cream for past 2 months and I have the same opinion on these. While I have quite oily t-zone, the toner didn't seem to do much on its own (using it is enhancer seems to kind of work, I guess?), the ampoule feels nice and the water cream disappears even into my skin as if nothing was applied, so I use it as first evening moisturizer and follow it with some sleeping pack 😁

It really was strange to encounter a Korean toner that isn’t hydration-first! It kind of feels like a Korean take on old school toning. Much less astringent, very gently exfoliating, but still very different from the “flood of hydration” toners I’m used to lol!

Been so excited for this one from you! I am literally coming to the end of my first bottle of the ampoule serum and its just funny to me how much I agree with everything you said! At first I was quite underwhelmed, but over time I noticed that it really helped my skin by calming and hydrating deep in my skin to get rid of irritation and acne quicker and repair! Even though as you said it didnt do much for me in prevention either. I'm seriously just thinking about how to get every last drop out now 😆 Just started using the toner recently and I'm not loving it as much but it may just need more time. I was basically wondering if there was "enough" science behind this ingredient when I started using it, but my experience has been great. Every person is different so anecdotal evidence does mean much, until you just try it for yourself honestly.

Hello Alice, I hope you are well. I was looking forward to this video to know your final impressions of MA:NYO and I am impressed that helping to reinforce the skin barrier has impressive benefits in other aspects such as in your case in helping you with acne. Which makes me think that it can have other results in other aspects such as aging, because by strengthening the barrier it can improve the proper functioning of cells in general. Thank you very much for making such a spectacular review, testing the products for a long period of time, which is greatly appreciated, because first impressions say nothing and you dedicate all your energy to delivering quality work. could the bifida biome complex ampoule be used every day for someone with sensitive skin? Did you experience any irritation from using it (if you had used it every day for that month)? Yup, there is a link between gut bacterial populations and acne. The catch is that it’s not a guarantee that’s the “cause” of acne for a person, but rather one of many possibilities. I do think it’s a great idea to try out a probiotic supplement (especially one formulated with the species/strains that have shown promise against acne) as probiotics are low risk. But it is a coin toss as to whether it will help the skin visibly or simply not do much for the skin. And if it DOES help, know that you don’t have to take it forever, but rather you can find an ideal supplementation schedule- Drat maybe I do need to make a video 🤣

I found The Hum Nutrition Skin Squad from one of Alice's videos a while back, that as well as their daily cleanse and a spearmint supplement (recommended by a dermatologist) did WONDERS for my hormonal acne! Just my 2 cents and experience... If it helps😁 spearmint apparently helps regulate hormones if you deal with hormonal breakouts. My niece started taking it and saw results fairly quickly. I've also found the Hum Red Carpet has done great things for my skin, but it's rough on my stomach so I have to be careful with how much I take. Also, Evening Promise is another interesting one to look into! Hope that helps!! I also 2nd another video on supplements!! Always love hearing your opinion on these things Alice. Interesting... 1) I bought the complex on heavy discount and I have it slated for use when my HA serum expired since I intend to drop that as a focused step in my morning routine. Based on your results it seems like a good idea. 2) I don't always approach things the same way others do, so I didn't see skincare as much different, but your "projection" actually makes it a bit clearer for me why I didn't try to do all the actives super fast (probably would have triggered sensitive skin though). When I started skincare it was less of a "I don't like X about my face" and more "I'm getting to an age where I probably should do something" after seeing a few preliminary warning signs. The concept that I could mess up my face if I overdid things too quickly felt very real and half of my goal was to just take good care rather than target one specific thing.
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole 11 ай бұрын
Yes absolutely! I would say it does so much more than HA alone. Your approach is much more wise. I feel like there is better advice to be found these days, but I suspect some people are still motivated by similar reasons as I was (it’s odd how I didn’t get into skincare because I started breaking out, but rather because I got SICK of breaking out lol). And I assume it’s still just as hard to navigate the “intense active” marketing!
@masonjeq4261
@masonjeq4261 11 ай бұрын
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Its hard for me to speak much to this given that I only started looking at skincare a few years ago, but I do think it's gotten easier. On the surface level I think a lot of skincare itself is just better and the industry focuses heavily on less potent actives. This may be due to k-beauty influence in addition to a more knowledgable clientele, but regardless look at how many more soothing options are available with "intense" marketing going to niacinamide, HA, etc. On a deeper level I think resources are more readily available to the consume to research products with a minimal amount of effort. My sister just got into skincare also and we may be more similar than the average consumer, but she ended up approaching things the exact same way I did and was intrigued by the lighter products. It just happens that the cure-all solution that makes spots vanish, eliminates wrinkles, and turns you into Aphrodite for 72 hours is an HA moisturizer with negligible amounts of niacinamide rather than a 30% alcohol, 20% AHA, 50% fragrance acne toner of yesteryear.

Well I guess it's a little bit of both, but I agree with her. It's more like a skincare health overall. It's anti aging because of hydration, peptides, and the benefits of fermented ingredients. It would be good for acne as well because of soothing ingredients (centella asiatica acids) and the ferments there create a great "biome" for the bifida ingredients on the skin that can reduce acne and improving the skin barrier function

Yep that’s what I heard as well! It’s apparently more lightweight in texture. As a dry skin type, I didn’t go for it, but it might be a nice option!

Do you know how bifida interacts with yeast? I have a chronic patch on my cheek because i spend too much time leaning on my hand while reading. (Not expecting you to be a dermatologist here, just wondering if you have any insight.) I'm interested in trying these products but trying to figure out if they're problematic together.

I allllmost added some thoughts on that into this video, so here’s my shortened thoughts: I find it interesting how often bifida and galactomyces are discussed together, while they are actually very different! Bifida is much more focused on dryness/sensitivity, while galactomyces (I should say specifically pitera) actually does act on my acne/hyperpigmentation. I mention that only because I’ve seen many others say they have seen the same observation. So IMO, very different effects, and maybe unsurprisingly because while both are based on very tiny organisms, one is bacterial and one is yeast I did come across a discussion of whether bifida might be a good choice for anyone sensitive to galactomyces - specifically in that the bifida might help reduce an immune response to galactomyces. So in theory, someone could start with bifida and then move on to galactomyces (or both). There isn’t a lot evidence for this, but it’s an intriguing idea I’d say. Not sure if this really answers your question or is me rambling on about more related to it, but I did find it interesting!

@@AliceintheRabbitHole That's really interesting! Science is the best. I was wondering if they would cancel each other out or somehow team up to greater effect to target all the things. So many interesting things to learn about the way these things act on the skin. The more I learn, the more I wish I was rich enough to find replication studies.

In terms of price/full formula, yeah I do! I loved ANR (but not the price), and I had great results from axis-y’s biome collection (although I always have to point out that collection has EOs, for those who can’t use them). Manyo did a fantastic job on their ampoule!

@@AliceintheRabbitHole Thank you so much. I am looking for my mom actually. 2 years ago they were evacuated from a fire. Their house was safe, but the 3 weeks of smoke from the fire ( California ) and the stress broke down her skin barrier. We both have very sensitive skin. Hers is much more dry and fragile. Thank you again!

I found the fermented SKIN1004 cica range utterly useless for me. Devastated. I wonder if the fermentation process destroys the healing and soothing properties of cica. I was dubious, but my aged, sensitive skin totally loves the cica ampoule and had never looked better.

Aw sorry to hear! In theory, fermentation increases the absorption, but it’s strange to see ingredients fermented with little research on the final solution. (I’m very much glaring at the numbuzin 3 toner 😒)

This may be a stupid question, but would it be a waste of time to use postbiotic skincare while using a topical antibiotic? I know they aren't living bacteria, sonI figure it's fine. However, I did have a difficult time getting a straight answer when Googling this topic.
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole 11 ай бұрын
That’s a great question! In general, I would say no as the bacteria is non-living, thus you’re getting the benefits from what it produced in its breakdown. That said, since you’re using a topical antibiotic, I’d always check with your doctor to make sure (especially as I don’t know the reason for the prescription). HTH!

@@AliceintheRabbitHole Thanks for answering. It's a topical for acne that I just started using again because my acne flairs in the Summer. I did ask my doctor, she said it wouldn't hurt anything, but couldn't tell me if I would see any benefit. I think I'm just gonna give it a go, as being out in the elements all the time does a number on my skin barrier!

@AliceintheRabbitHole

The idea is that it would feed the good bacteria on our skin, but my issue with prebiotics is how little we know about the skin microbiome. There’s a need for more research into this entire topic, although you wouldn’t know it from how much the phrase “skin microbiome” is thrown around!

Manyo ampule was terrible for my skin. After 3 weeks I had bleeding dots on my face. Nothing like acne or dermatitis. The red dots kept bleeding for days. Until I poured the ampule in the sink. I think it’s because of hyaluronic acid or the low molecular forms of it in this product. Low molecular hyaluronic acid is pro inflammatory. I really wish it was banned. And I wish skincare influencers would talk more about studies showing inflammatory effects of hyaluronic acid.

I admit it’s been a while since I looked into HA (honestly am just kind of bored of the ingredients; they’re absolutely everywhere 🥱), but I believe the consensus is that it’s possible to experience allergy. And you’re correct that LMW-HA can be pro-inflammatory, but I also recall that there are ways to formulate with it that decrease those same good ol’ pro inflammatory cytokines. I’ll look into it again and report back

@@AliceintheRabbitHole i had the same reaction to Dr G toner for dry skin, Wellage and Torriden serums. It’s very different from allergy. I had allergic dermatitis reactions to other products which looked like redness over a large area and bumpy texture. Whereas LM HA causes tiny red dots that start to bleed eventually and won’t stop until LM HA is removed from routine. Pillow Talk Derm talked about inflammatory action oh HA in one of her videos referring to studies and her clinical practice. Maybe you have seen it.
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole 11 ай бұрын
You should absolutely avoid it! Look into humectant alternatives instead; you’re not alone, but admittedly it’s a pain in the behind to avoid HA as a whole. As for the inflammation conversation, I do think it’s important to note why we see inflammation markers. The studies are looking at bodily wounds, upon which the HA our body keeps in its tissues is disrupted and breaks apart (HMW-HA-> fragments). This is a very different scenario from including a tiny amount (in the low ppms) of LMW-HA in a topical product. Bottom line: the research doesn’t support HA as a dangerous ingredient within skincare, but it also doesn’t support it being the world's greatest skincare ingredient. It’s just a humectant (family), and if it doesn’t work for you, definitely move on. Hope that helps!

@@Analee23497 I don't have any issues with any molecular weight of HA, but I don't prefer it. I have found that sugar based humectants, and artificial sugars (like xylitol), really agree with my skin. Also The Inkey list has a polyglutamic acid serum that I like for plumping fine lines. I can't remember if it has a little HA in it, but it's a low concentration and not LMW.
