Bought the course! I've always wanted to start portraits but I was unsure where and how to start. Drawing "plain" portraits with just graphite or ink has also never really appealed to me but this seems like loads of fun while also teaching portrait fundamentals. Can't wait to start!

I love what you do, do you have any courses to recommend for the style of figure drawing you do?

Thanks Bambi! The course that inspired me to sketch loosely with ink was Albert Kiefer kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nNCPjahmyqy7YY0.html (my video review) but I don’t know any that is specific to figure drawing. Maybe I’ll have to make one😉

Don't take this as a criticism but as an observation. * I have already upvoted the video. The colour choices are great because they add a lot of colour on the final drawing. The thing that I personally don't really like is that this type of portrait drawing is the idealized version of each and every reference face, that removes all kind of individuality and character from the faces of the persons that have been used as references. It is not semi realistic kind of drawing. It is unrealistic. If one is going to draw this way, I mean putting on paper the best possible in other words the ideal ratio of facial features, then why bother to use reference photos or models? Then they are not needed. S/he can go for the perfect proportions.

Thanks for sharing your view! Yes I understand, this is a very stylised portrait method and Gaby talks about that in her course. It's more illustrative than realistic, using the reference as a base to start. All the the best with your art🤗

Hi, Scottie. This level of drawing isn't serious enough for me. One of my favorite artist Ingres would spend many days on one piece and his work showed it. I like to spend an average of 30 hours on a drawing when I can. I know you're having fun but drawing can do a LOT more than you are showing in your videos. I would recommend your videos to anyone looking how to make quick "thumbnail" sketches. But serious drawing skills? Mmmm..............not so much.
