Italians and Mexicans both have incredible spice tolerance. As a quarter Italian, I like spicy stuff but often when it's REALLY spicy the flavor gets lost, and it's a shame. That's why I'll often eat a spicy dish only if it has like good flavor along with it, and it's not just the result of someone putting all this spicy stuff in a blender that doesn't actually taste good together.

The way I can describe it is 'fake spice'. The curry sauce they use is always the same for the different spice levels, like the taste will always be the same. The only difference is what kinds of oils and other additives they use in order to make it seem spicy since it's kind of just pain for pain's sake. It's not actually going to change the flavor like say adding in chilis will. Rather, it's more like adding capsaicin extract so you get that body reaction without changing the flavor that much.

I’m not sure what they mean by spice in Japan, I’ve tried Japanese curry from Amazon that is the spicy kind and I don’t feel anything from it lol and I’m not sure what they add to make it spicier. The spiciest thing I’ve had is ghost pepper by Dave’s gourmet hot sauce, the tiniest little dot and it about destroyed my tongue 😂

I need Jose to compare the how bad it actually is. Cause my family has come across a very spicy salsa before that my dad's friend labeled as "incomible" or, inedible. Then there's the super old chiles asados that can either be unbelievably spicy or meh. And then we've got the regular chiles (that my friends still fear because of the last time I said, "It's not spicy)

I'll just say this, I read somewhere that the tongue doesn't have a taste receptor for hot flavours, apparently hot spice is just our tongue getting damaged, so the pain we experience is just our tongue getting burned from all the capsaicin and related chemicals. Props to every one trying this level and firming it.

A big mistake is that people often make they stop eating. As long as the food is moving it can't really settle on your tongue or something, but taking breaks between bites is making it so much harder. Also, don't dunk in all your rice is, (white) rice is a perfect balance to cool down your mouth. And lastly, everyone can learn to eat spicy food. I can't handle spice is literally "I am not accustomed to eat spicy food."

As a Japanese, I thought people that can eat level 0 (= medium / regular) curry there can claim they have a medium level of spicy food tolerance since there are actually quite a lot of adults who can’t even handle level 0 and eat “amakuchi”(= mild) instead that has absolutely 0 spiciness. I’d consider people that order level 3 to have high spice tolerance. 10?? Beyond human!😂
