The thing is, when you put those woodchips in, they're literally burning. Imagine trying to "smoke" something using harsh campfire smoke. No wonder it tastes bad, you're supposed to leave the smoker for 30 mins with the wood chunks to heat up before placing your stuff in there. I swear Alton Brown literally says that..

I never comment on any comments but I think what has happened is that Buzzfeed is nowadays such a big corporation that all of the shows and channels can't always communicate with each other and these were filmed about the same time without either of the shows knowing about it. Merle just beat tasty to it. It's filmed so it needs to be published or it will cost everybody involved, mostly buzzfeed, money

@Defqon they mean "meat eaters" as opposed to people who do not eat meat. Which is equally normal, humans have been doing it for an extremely long time. You have probably simply been raised in an omnivorous culture. Had you been born into a vegetarian one, you might feel differently. Humans are wonderfully adaptable, we can handle lots of different diets. P.S. Most vegans and vegetarians don't do this to their watermelon. I sure don't. Though, to be fair, I simply don't like meat, so it could partially be the appearance that's putting me off.

Yeah, smoking a watermelon is a bad idea. I don't even know what the restaurant owner who originally thought of this was thinking. Watermelon is sweet and refreshing, smoking it takes away its best properties. Vegetables could've worked better.
