I think it's so we can make the house the way we want but it's still tricky cause you'll have people like lilsimsie thinking trash and deleting the house anyway but there players who'll just delete the stuff inside and keep the layout

A big part of it is that every house has to be made with minimum spec players in mind. Like the object restrictions are there because there's people playing on laptops with the power of a toaster and those folks need to be able to expect fair performance too.

I also like to imagine that some of them are really frustrated to the point that they decide to delete toilets instead of leaving a home looking super empty. Because they know that people are going to put toilets in when they play anyway.

The size wouldn't be that much of a problem, if they'd aligned the longer side of the house to the longer side of the plot, it's not that huge compared to the full space. Personally, I guess those houses (this one and the other two in the neighbourhood) are supposed to look like terraced houses (with the rest of the houses somehow removed), which would explain the roof shape and the small side being at the front, even if it doesn't align with the plot well that way.

Sylwia Skolarczyk This comment reminds me of the first house I ever tried to build in The Sims when I was like 14 and knew nothing. Step one: delete everything. Step two: wall in the WHOLE lot. Step three: doors, floors, windows, and ceilings Step four: haphazardly fill with objects. Step five: try to make some inner walls. Step six: delete everything out of frustration and resolve to try again later.

Meant to put this on more recent one. But I had an idea for this challenge. Go into a lot in build mode, count all the items, write down the price. Then delete it. Move a sim into the empty lot give exact money as build was (minus the lot price) and then build it however you want. I know it's not really renovating. But it's still building with their restrictions.

Kayla should do a build challenge where you make a build with the restrictions the Sims gurus actually have when building things for new worlds. (example: the preset Sims lots have to be able to load in low resolution computers so u should make a house that’s able to load in those computers too and follow the other restrictions that the original EA lots have) Anyway, just an idea as that’s how I thought the challenge was when reading the title. Love ur videos Kayla!!!! ♥️♥️

The finished house genuinely looks and feels a whole lot better than what you began with. All the little changes like overall shape/roof design, the addition of the computer, the house's distance from the sidewalk, and especially the redone stairs (that was one of the biggest improvements,) all those things add up quickly in terms of improvement value. It's a great little starter house! If you can improve the base house that much under such restrictive limits, then honestly you're better at that kind of thing than the devs are, and maybe they should consider giving you a job. It's just the right thing to do 😎

I think If the kitchen bump out had been on the side rather than the back it would have been better---it was still box-like even with the little bump in the front. Congrats on 500k!
