Absolutely stellar saw. Have used it Day in and day out for the last 4 years and it works as good as the day I bought it. A lot of people are bummed that it doesn’t bevel both ways But in my opinion it’s really not that necessary. You actually get a cleaner cut by flipping the wood upside down. 5 star saw

I have this saw, use it for MDF mainly, cut casing and base with it, I always keep a 20V 8 amp hr battery in it, runs great and always keep a sharp 40 tooth blade in it. One regret it doesn't bevel both ways

like yours, my dust flap got cut by the saw on day one. However, it's not much good anyway. I use in my living room so I flipped it up and tied my shopvac hose to the bolt on the right rear side with a shoe string. Just a few particles to clean after, if at all. Great saw so far. Beefy feel yet very light. price with separate batteries and separate charger was a bit of a sticker shock but no regrets once I got to play with it.

The only bad is it doesn't have duel bevel but you can just flip the work and do it that way which I do most of the time anyway because it's faster and I use the 9amp flexvolt all the time gives more power and the runtime is insane

Hi Brad, I have this DeWalt cordless 7 - 1/4 miter saw. I was lucky and purchased it on Craigslist for $150.00 from a guy who only used a few times on a house project (tool only). It was a great deal so i said to myself, what the heck just get it. I thought i wasn't going to use it much but i was wrong. I use it for small fencing project, floor project, baseboard and casing project. I use the new 6.0ah (21700) battery and it last me the whole day. Sometimes it only uses one bar on the battery. With bigger project you will be fine with 2 batteries (5.0ah or 60 ah) depending on what you are working on. Just remember people you're not building a house with this miter saw, LOL... I have to agree with you. It needs to have a double bevel and a better dust collection. I do hope the new version has a brushless motor. Also a better way to hold the blade guard up when changing the blade. The Milwaukee 7 1/4 cordless miter saw has all the features but between $450.00 - $500.00 i think i will wait for a Big sale. This cordless miter saw is great. Very light and a little work horse. Would be nice to see a 10 inch cordless miter saw. Just my thoughts... Thanks for the video. Stay safe and Healthy.

I know it’s not perfect but I love this little saw. I have the Makita 36v slider that I love more but because the Dewalt it so light and convenient to haul around. It takes care of over 85% of what I need a miter saw for. Nice to see you do a review after putting it through the paces. Most reviews of this saw are unboxing videos which are useless imo.

Most of those double bezel saws utilize some type of chain or double worm gear drive as they have to place the motor directly at the rear out of the work area, I would love to see an upgraded version of this model that could double bezel, not everyone needs a full 10 or 12" saw.

I bought a flexvolt 12 inch double bevel sliding compound miter saw awhile back off of a buddy of mine thinking it would offer fantastic portability. In all honesty, that portability is menial considering it costs $400+ for the set of 2 60v flexvolt batteries to run it without the ac adapter. Additionally, it weighs considerably more than its corded counterpart and is a bit more clunky and bulkier as well due to all the added pcbs for the battery management system and other electrical components. These components have the added benefit of burning out, and usually right after the warranty period is over. Go figure. Lol. On top of that, those pcbs are completely encased in some sort of polymer to shield them from the dust that inevitably builds up inside the housing. So to do any soldering is a bit of a task if you don't feel quite like coughing up another $400+ on a completely new housing. It's amazing how they designed a product that is for all intents and purposes essentially diametrically opposed to the product as I'm sure it was imagined and marketed. This little guy you have here though hits all the marks in my book for what I would consider to be a truly portable miter saw. I think the trade offs of it being a smaller diameter blade and only being a single bevel are fine considering it's intended application. Besides, that little dude can probably even cut 1x12 I imagine. I could see myself toting it upstairs easily to tie in some pieces of base and shoemold with this thing would be heaven on earth in some ways. It's like the perfect little punch-out saw so you don't have to whip out the big stuff when you don't need all that power and workspace. And it's runs on the regular 20v batteries, even the slim ones? Get outta here! That in itself makes it worth it to me because it integrates seamlessly with the other 90% of dewalt tools that use the damn things and those batteries don't cost an arm and a leg, just a finger. Haha. Very cool little saw man, I'm impressed enough to consider getting one for myself to replace my other 10 year old, 8 1/4 hitachi.

Good useful info there Brad. The only measurement you didn't get was the one I was looking for- the depth from front to back with the head locked down and turned to the 45° position. It seems to me that could decrease that depth measurement a little for storage. Good stuff anyway- thank you!

I saw you measured the depth at around 25 inches. What is the depths of the tool from front to back when you rotate the blade 45 degrees. My guess is it should only be 20ish inches. Put another way, if you were to rotate the blade to 45 degrees and then place it in a cubby. How deep of a cubby would you need to contain the saw? Thanks! Great video btw.

Good review! My advice, as I’ve owned this for quite awhile; I went through several blades, and ended up going back to the Precision Trim 40 tooth blade. 60 tooth Freud blade would cut a bit smoother, but at the expense of battery life and speed of the saw. Ditch that Freud blade Brad! Trust me on this. Tooth profile not even the best for a miter saw! I use it with the newer XR 6.0 amp hour batteries, and it runs faster and better with these batteries. I love this saw, but DeWalt dropped the ball in some areas. It should have been brushless, with an actual brake, and dual bevels! I don’t know what they were thinking? It is a breeze to carry around however. More capacity would have been nice, but I think they made a compromise for weight and portability. I wholeheartedly concur with you On the Bevel issue, Brad. The XPS type of shadow light is great, albeit a little weak. A few too many compromises with this saw, but I still likes it! 😁 Peace 👍🇺🇸😁

Have you tried using a bigger diameter hose on the Festool dust extractor? Like the one that comes with their cleaning kits? use a piece of 1/2'' mdf and clamp it to the fence to make it higher, you cand even make a L shape out of mdf and put a stop on the bottom part of the L so your work lines up exactly where you need it every time , takes away the chances of tipping.

I don't even try cutting crown nested with this thing. It's pretty annoying to do crown with because of that and it lacks the left bevel so you're flipping things around and thinking really hard on the compound cuts. It's perfect for small jobs though.
