@@freakipz5002 back in the day manufacturers could somehow find the money to sell a flagship for half the price (compared to today), and could also find enough capital to include plenty of accessories like headphones or a case; compared to today you pay more than twice as much (in some cases) and you just get a charging brick and a cord. Accessories cost them little to manufacture, yet they sell them separately for $20-$30 a piece. I mean how does a third party charging cord cost like $6 vs an apple cord that'll cost me $25? Does Apple use solid gold lines? It's the first party branding you're paying for.

Well I do think there is enough phones for 150€ that are better in so many ways than an iphone 4S, back in the day when we used normal cellphones I used a Nokia 3310 in school and (he is not my best friend anymore) shittalked me for having such a mobile. When actually the only difference was if it could play music and taking pictures. I told him if I want to take a picture, I use a camera. Maybe not true today, but back then a usual phone that most people could afford... if it had a camera... I think it had like 0.8MP sensors. Lol. What a waste, the pictures were absolute dogshit.

This was one of the best smartphones I've owned. Towards the end stages of my ownership, I've used a custom ROM (Xperia S rip) from xda. This had quick toggles, brightness slider and all bloatware removed. It gave the phone a fresh breath as the physical design looked futuristic to begin with. (Disabling the google play services made the battery last 2 days) The real challenge was a mere 128MB usable internal storage, while apps continued to grow in size. (Whatsapp alone was 100mb+ !!) I had to upgrade because of this sole reason.

Different phone but similar problem. My old phone had very little internal storage, an many apps such as WhatsApp refuse to be stored on an SD-Card. I needed an upgrade and went with a cheapo modern phone under 100 bucks.

Yeah but with cars I like this, they have a lot of surface, so designers have more space to make differences. I mean you are still able to say which brand made a model pretty easy. Phones are all just the same. If we could remove the brand names probably nobody could make a difference. I was always interested in design so maybe this is why I really don't like this way.

'Uninteresting' but functional. Id rather a bezel-less phone myself. Whats on the screen is what I'm interested in. There's a reason so many phones look alike these days, and it's not just becasue they have no imagination. Phones, like the operating systems on them are more refined these days - what works is kept and what doesn't is dropped... for the most part..... Occasionally they may drop things that would be nice to keep though.

I've been using Galaxy S3 for the last 6 years. Looking for a replacement, I focused on finding something with a comparable screen size/form factor and those two you've mentioned (+ iPhone 7/8) were the closest. In the end I settled for Pixel 2 (same form factor, smaller screen). I have pretty big hands, but still need to adjust this phone in my palm to reach the top corners of the screen. I actually thought about trading it in for an iPhone just for the sake f being able to navigate the phone really fast one-handed. I'd say XZ3 Compact is the only true compact phone on the market right now worth spending money on.

I think this was the last phone released under the flag of Sony Ericcson, and it has a lot of that Ericcson design language still in it. Definitely one of the most attractive of my previous phones and the "feel in the hand" was very high. The camera was also pretty decent, I seem to remember. But it really did lack performance and updates to the OS pushed by Sony really made it worse. But I stuck with Sony a little longer and went down their later Xperia phones.

I always said Sony would kill the mobile division (said it allready from day one in 2011 when they news came out and no one really believed me that time), not because of bad phone but because they never been good at designing the phones. I do like the monolith design though, because in sense its kinda scandinavian design language. Lines that are easy but mostly it felt to be for buisnessmen and no play. But I think Sony would and should go more nostalgia. Why dont do a Arc design phone with the modern specs. I mean common even with those bezels it looks good, am I right or what?

This was the very first smart phone I had back in the day ! And it's amazing to see that the screen still looks really good, even by today's standards ! That Amoled Screen is amazing ! It hasn't aged badly at all !! Although the phone is a bit slow now, I still Love the little size (by today's standards) and the nostalgia of it. The only issue I had with it was the god awful battery life and small storage of 2 Gb. issues that could be so easily addressed nowadays. I Plan to buy my self a new one as I am very unsatisfied with the new phone mdels that are so fragile like shit unlike the phones back then. The older smartphones could take quite a beating, since the screen was made of plastic and not glass.

There is one other issue related to battery life: Running modern app on old hardware uses a lot of processing power and in turn energy from battery just to do basic things. And even old apps get updates and features that make them hardware intensive. My previous phone would operate Google Maps just a bit on a slow side, everything worked, but in turn it would get very hot and use more energy than regular car charger would provide.

Oh my gosh! I can't believe that somebody else uses xperia play too.👍 I use it since 2011 until now. Of course, not for calls, but for gaming. Best smartphone ever! 👍👍👍

Gosh I loved my Xperia S back then, beautiful design and the HDMI port with CEC support was a godsend, I used it as a media player all the time.

It was my first Android smartphone 😍 It came preloaded with 2.3 , but they gave it a upgrade to ics... I used it for few more years with custom roms for jelly bean,& kitkat.. only drawback of it was it was pretty unusable without micro sd card.. apart from it..i loved every bit of it. And i agree Sony ruined smartphones after Ericsson separation

I still have a few of my phones from around that time. Every now and then I like to pop my SIM card into one just to remember what was once considered state of the art technology. T-Mobile HTC Amaze 4G, a great phone when it came out, but the only thing I can appreciate about it now, is its size. Phones used to be just the right size to fit in a front pocket, and as you mentioned, were a hell of a lot easier to use one handed. But things have come a long way since then, and if we want our blindingly bright screens and El Zippo 9000 processors with 32 corez, the phone has to be bigger, if for no other reason than to make room for the necessarily larger battery required to power them. The phone I have now, a Samsung Note 10+, is the first phone that I've had to decrease the brightness. A lot. Every single phone I've ever had, I cranked the brightness up to 100% because that's what I felt the most comfortable with and I turned of any kind of adaptive or automatic brightness control. It was full on, 100% brightness day and night. I currently run my Note 10+ around 35-40%, and I actually like it there. When I first got it, just like all phones, it was in light or day or whatever mode they call it that isn't dark mode, and the first thing I did was grab that brightness slider and drag it full right. I quickly figured out that it needed to be way down lol. Even my Note 5 from just five years ago is noticably slower, but right up until the day I got my 10+, it was still perfect. Or so I thought. Once I got done rebuilding it and making it work again, I realized how infuriatingly slow it is. Another phone I still have from around 2011 or so is an HTC MyTouch 4G Slide, and that's even worse than the HTC Amaze. Painfully Slow, miserable battery life, apps can't be updated to their most current version because they're no longer compatible with the phone, constant for e closes, etc. Hell you should see the Google Play Store on that thing lol!

Complains that modern phones don't concave out instead of in. Well I'm glad to tell you that you can infact bend your phone inwards by 90 degrees (warning may break phone)

The Sony Ericsson Zperia phones were honestly great all around. My first smartphone was an Xperia Play. Would love to see Sony give it a go with that gaming concept again seeing that mobile gaming has become such a big thing
