I just bought mine yesterday for $269 after tax, from Best buy. I have a high end PC and I can see myself playing this a lot. The system amazes me how small it is, how quiet it is , and how smooooooth my games are running on this. Love it so far. I have Rainbow six seige, Warzone 2.0, Fortnite, Battlefield 5 , and Halo Infinite installed and still have about 30%storage left. For myself this is absolutely fine. If I get sick of playing some, I'll swap them in my storage. Thumbs way up to MS on this machine. Thoroughly impressed for the price.

Same. I think the size and portability of it in my opinion outweighs the 4K and storage limitations… People are amazed when they see how small it is and I can bring it everywhere with me right in my backpack. You can’t do that with the PS 5

I just picked one up based off availability and being tired of waiting for the ps5... always been a PS guy. First xbox i've owned since the original xbox. My purchase was based off availabilty, price and the fact that I'm not a hard core gamer... the quality isn't a huge deal breaker for me. I love it so far. Bought a tb of external ssd for 40$ and I'm good. Every thing is going digital anyway... I give it 10 years and there wont be a disk console out there. As I play a game and finish it, I move it to the HHD if I want to play it later, move another one to the HHD and download the game I want.

Im worried that it might eventually lead to streaming and renting, unable to own the games you buy, cant play it without the internet, they can take away your game away if they want.

@@JC-xy6mt That is exactly where this is going and it's exactly what they want, it's been in the works for years. I just went to buy battlefield 2042, xbox store its $63 (on sale). So I bought a disk copy on ebay for $12. In a few years, we won't have an option.

You can use an external HDD/SSD. The trick is to copy so you can transfer from internal to external vice versa more efficiently. So while the internal storage is low you can add more store externally without breaking bank. Also don't trip if some games aren't hitting 4K, 1440p and 60FPS you the Next Gen stuff. Just give it time cause all Next Gen consoles are improvements as the gen goes on, even the Almighty PS5 and XSX. So enjoy the XSS till you're ready to upgrade to the PS5 and/or XSX!

I ended up buying a Series S from Game (UK) when they had a promotion on. You could get a Series S for £99 when trading in an old Xbox one /S, ended up trading in some old games and controllers as well and ended up paying £29 brilliant value

Bought Series S 1 year ago. Best decision ever. I’m not an hardcore anymore. But paying 10 € and getting two months of game pass is incredible. Also it’s a great piece of technology: great performances, very small and very very silent! It’s simply a great console.

The Series S is a amazing console. It loads fast. I sold mine and upgraded to the Series X. The only difference I see between the two is of the Series X has higher resolution.

I just recently picked one up. And I haven’t played games in about 7 years. I am a reasonable person and considered the outcomes of getting it, and you touched all of the points that I was concerning myself with when i bought it . Nice video!

I love my series S. That said, I am definitely a casual gamer. I usually play older games (Skyrim is still my go to the majority of the time). And I jumped straight from the 360 to the S. Also, at the time when I bought it you could not find a series X anywhere in stock. So, for the bargain price with GPU, it was a no-brainer for me.

the series S was my entry into next gen as well until I recently got a series X after having my S for 2 years. If you’re a casual gamer or on a budget, the series S is a great cheap entry point into next gen as it’s a very impressive console for its size and price

I bought my very first xbox last march and is loving it. gamepass is a godsend. I can try games I normally won't even think of trying ever. Ultimate gamepass is awesome that I can use it on my laptop and mobile too. I had a choice of getting the series X/S. I chose the X because I like having the option of buying physical games and it also functions as a blu-ray/DVD/ music player. I like buying the disc because it gives you sense of ownership sort of. I also solved my problem of storage, you can buy a regular portable discdrive and move games in between drives. I installed all my games on my portable and let the gamepass games stay on the internal drive.

I 100% agree with you on gamepass! Games like Forzia, Gears of War, Halo 5 etc… are games I personally would never buy, but I finally got the chance to play. I also agree that the series X is just a much better choice if you can afford it, and if you can find it.

@@Day_Reezy been enjoying it. I've been playing Halo infinite, Forza horizon 5, Hades, FIFA22, Ori and wisp, nakara bladepoint. I am using 55" 4K TV and i absolutely love the way all these games look on it. Idk why ppl been hating this console so much.

@@parthdoshi5076 mainly because the rough start of Xbox One. Most ppl stuck with PS4 and didn't realize the chances within. I stayed with Xbox from 360. Looking to buy a PS5 but I'm unable to find one. Guess I'll stick with my Series S for now. Been enjoying Game Pass subscription a lot though. I've found a bunch of old and new games in there. It's great because I get to try a lot of games first before deciding whether to buy them or not. I love the fact that there's been a lot of first day release games that are on there. I have a Series S in my bedroom. I have a 5tb Helo external hard drive. You can move X/S games to store on that drove. It transfers from internal storage to the external at 1gbps. You can move a 100gb game in about 3 min.

I considered buying a Series S, but I got a 4K Monitor last Christmas and I wasn't able to use the capabilities. Little did I know, my Parents were planning on getting me a Series X this Christmas about 2 Weeks ago. Really enjoying it so far. Series S is what I had my money saved up for😀

I just bought an Xbox Series S on sale for $250. In order to get the most out of it, getting the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is essential. It cost like $15 a month with access to over a 100 games. I was able to play games like Forza Horizon and Halo via the cloud without downloading them.

Series S works fine for me. I have two 1 TB SATA SSD externals that I made from drives I already had and failed old WD externals. I use one for Xbox One games and another for Xbox/Xbox 360 games. I was given a Seagate 1 TB storage expansion as a gift though, and I use it for the optimized games.

I use to use rechargeable packs for years. My last one after a year and half of heavy use started not hold charge and on top of that Xbox was experiencing alot of random controller disconnects. So I bought a 12 ft type C charging cord and have been using that since and that's the way to go in my opinion. Do I miss wireless sometimes. Sure but honestly in the end my controllers lighter and has a slight better response and will never die in the middle of a match. It is da way.

I actually really like the Xbox Series controller's d-pad. It's comfortable, precise and tactile. If I have one complaint about it it is quite loud, and when you really get into a 2D platformer, all the noise that thing makes can get quite distracting. For the most part I agree with your opinions on the Xbox Series S. I got mine earlier this year as an "upgrade" to the Xbox One X, because not only was the Xbox Series X never anywhere to be found, I likely wouldn't have half a grand to just drop on it that one time I happened to miraculously see it in the store. In reality, because of its lack of storage and inability to do 4K and run Xbox One X-enhanced versions of games, it never really replaced my One X, but it complimented it quite nicely. Though it still doesn't have anywhere near enough space, I installed only Series-optimized games on it, and anything I could play just as well on the old One X in 4K, well, I kept playing that on there. I briefly used an external hard drive to install older Xbox/360/One games on and I was surprised at how fast even those loaded on the Series S vs. on the Xbox One (indicating that not only its storage, but its CPU is a bottleneck for loading games). I have since recently spotted an elusive Xbox Series X in the wild at the local Wal-Mart and picked that bad boy up. It is, literally, the best of both worlds. It has all the speed and performance of the Series S (in terms of system menus, loading games and framerates), plus all the raw graphical power of the One X (4K)--and then some (ray tracing). Still short on space (780 GB), but not as bad. I have since removed and wiped the external drives from my other consoles, connected them to my Series X, and installed pretty much *all* of my Xbox One and earlier games on them. Internal storage is totally full and there are a lot of Series X games I currently can't install.

If you add an external storage that is not nvme there are many games that work from a standard HDD/SSD, if you goto either your library or game pass library, pick a next gen title and press the start button on the controller click manage game and add ons, next look for the file info bottom left of screen press A, in the bottom few lines of info and code you will see either gen 9 or gen 9 aware, then gen 9 ones are only playable via internal or expanded internal, gen 9 aware can be installed and played from either an HDD or an SSD, there is a list somewhere but for example mass effect assassin's creed origins and odyssey master chief collection tomb raider all playable via any external storage hope this helps a bit.

I tried cloud gaming for the 1st time today.. And started doing it via Wi-Fi it worked but left a bit to be desired. Then I hard wired.. It was awesome it ran excellent. Also you can just get an external hard drive. Because us casual gamers that just grind 2 or 3 games for thousands of hours are casual. Compared to your tens or maybe hundreds of your 6 or 7 we don't need it. But I'm just casual I only have enough time to put in 50 hours a week. i work don't have time to play 6 or 7 plus games

It has that small amount of space due to the nvme SSD. And all u have to do is store the games on your reg hard drive and move them to internal when u want to play them. That's what I do.

Totally worth noting that I got a much cheaper external HDD, and I just move the games that need to be moved as needed (since it is not SSD). It's not ideal but for the cost, I got a 2TB external for like $60 I think, so it makes a much better argument for the series s.

@@richguev it’s just not ideal because you have to move any titles made for Series optimization over to an SSD to play them, so in my case, I have to move it to internal. I don’t have a ton of games though, so I try to just keep my series stuff on internal, and the other stuff on external. But that’s what makes it not entirely optimal. But for me, it was justified by the cost difference. Just have to move some stuff around here and there.

I’m coming up on a year since I’ve had my series s, and it’s been my only gaming device since. If you don’t care about 4k gaming, the series s will live up to all your expectations and even beyond. There’s so many AAA games out there that the series s can run at 1440p 60fps and even 1080p at 120fps. for 95% of games, the series s will guarantee at least 1080p at 60fps, if not better

"Cloud gaming is net there yet"... i hear this a lot, but the cold hard truth is that it will never get there, because that's just not possible. It can never be the same as running on a local console, it will never get rid of the input lag, it will never be the same as local, it will never work for fast paced games. It's workable and fun for slow paced games, anything turn based or otherwise with a slow gameplay. It currently pretty much is as good as it's gonna get. This is already the ceiling.

I got the Xbox series s a couple weeks ago and ya, the memory is the biggest problem. Four games installed and I have literally like 25 gigs left. I'm eventually going to get a memory expansion card. But the good thing is, and the reason why I'm waiting for the memory expansion, is that I also have the Xbox one s. I can install a bunch of older games and games that aren't necessarily tied to the series s/x system on the one s and leave my series s for the games that only are for that it are optimized for that. That definitely helps, working out so far.

I'm looking into picking up a Series S here soon. The availability the price and Game Pass sounds really good to me. I don't play as much as I used to I'm more casual these days with gaming so for what the Series S is and me not really caring that it's not as strong as the X which I've played a few times I'll still be happy with it. The reviews on it are really positive and for the price maybe the cheap route is the W rn. I'm a Sony fan and really want the PS5 but ik I'm not going to find that any time soon and refuse to pay marked up prices

Hey, give the XB360 controller some respect. It was the best handheld controller of its generation without a doubt. To this day still performs brilliantly without the common ghost drifting issues a lot of the XB One controllers suffered with in the mid 2010s, and to me the old controller still looks great. The wireless ones if in very good condition in certain colours like the black one will be worth some good dough in the years to come.

I remember I had a PS3 for maybe more than a year at the time, when I went to a buddy's house to play Force Unleashed on his 360 and I was more blown away by that controller than the game. I was shocked how smart they were to switch the analog stick and how good the controller felt to play with

Always been a Playstation guy and had the intention to get a ps5 but we know how hard it was to get. I picked up a Series S a year ago for $250 at best buy and have really enjoyed it. I really have enjoyed it! I'm a casual sports and racing gamer and the games I play are on gamepass. Gamepass has been awesome. My kids used to talk me into buying ps4 games they would barely play. Now they can play different games for a great price too. Quick resume is a great feature the ps5 doesn't even have. The games look and play great on my 4k tv. The storage stinks but a hard drive to store games on is fine. Great console! I'm good for awhile

Microsoft has compression tech they've yet to implement in games. But it should reduce file sizes by as much as 50%. Also, some games you can manage what you install by clicking start on the tile of the game & choosing "manage game." Yeah, you pretty much have to invest in a memory expansion with the Series S. Those were $220 for 1TB. So at that point you're better off getting the Series X with 1TB of storage + a GPU with 8 more teraflops. But for people who only play a few games or don't mind swapping, it is a great console.

You can get an external SSD hard drive for $50, and you can even go cheaper than that. The only difference with that versus an expansion card is you have to store the games on the SSD drive and then transfer them over. With the expansion card, it adds internal storage to your series s. But, it takes 5-10 minutes to transfer the games over so it's good. The issue with the expansion cards is they are overpriced, and the SSD drive is the way to go. I have a PS5 and an Xbox Series S, and I play the cross console and exclusive games on the PS5, and only Xbox exclusives on the series S.

I've had an xbox one that i got from my cousin for a while and the hard drive died (for the second time) so I've been really looking into getting an affordable upgrade instead of replacing the HDD again. Been looking into a lot of series S videos and stuff and it really sounds like it would be great since i only play a few games like DRG, Fortnite, KF2, and TF|2. I can't wait until payday to splurge a bit and get a new Series S with a warranty plan since it sounds like it fits me so well.

I just picked one up for $200 on a recent Microsoft Instagram deal. I love this little GamePass box. The storage doesn't bother me for three reasons.... 1. I only play a few games at a time. 2. I try games on Xcloud first when I can. 3. I use an old external USB drive to store games so I don't have to redownload games and just move them back and forth.

You can use other USB hard drives on the Series S, however, you cannot play next gen games from it. You can swap games around a lot faster than uninstalling then re-downloading games. You can play last gen games directly from the USB hard drive. With all of the old games on Game Pass, this is a great viable way to upgrade your game storage on the cheap.

Ive had an S since launch. Still hard to find xbox and PlayStations. I love my series s. I use a 4tb usb storage device for all the old games it works well. I took it across country with a portable monitor, it all fit in a backpack… i got the expansion card a bit later. Worth it. Even for the series s… especially if you plan to upgrade to a series x

I have 14 games installed on my Series S internal storage; I also have 2, 1tb external SSD's (which some Series Titles will play from) that hold all of my non-Current Gen games. Besides that, the Series S is a bad ass console

I game on a Oled and had the X and sold it to a friend and grabbed a S for 150 the difference in the titles I played was marginal in my humble opinion now I use my S for streaming

Awesome video, man. You hit all the good points and hit on the cons quite nicely. In a lot of videos about the Series S, I see people sugarcoating it too much. On storage that point is so valid. I have a mix of big and small games so mine has a lot downloaded, but it is true if you are to take advantage of next gen gaming, you are gonna be playing big, heavy games, and this thing cannot fit many of them. Forza Horizon 5 already takes up over 100 gb.

Bought a usb 3.2 2Tb hardisk for 60dollars, basically solved that problem, transferring games between internal storage and external takes less than people think AND a lot more ganes than you'd think work directly from the external storage and Quick Resume still works. As someone that just doesn't have a budget for a crazy pc or a top end console this was perfect, especially since I don't even have a 5k screen in my house

I fall into the category of the "Broke College Student" Thinking of getting this with my part time job that I'll be starting after the end of this semester, I have a PS4 before and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT but I do want to try gaming on a next gen console, I also have a Mid range Gaming Laptop with a 1650. Getting an XBOX over a PS5 is basically is a must at this point since I can use the Game Pass Ultimate across my Series S and PC (For multiplayer games without crossplay). The pricing and the size are so good too.

Hey! Great review video. I'm getting back into gaming only cuz guys I work with keep talking about hell broke loose live on Xbox. So I purchased the game this weekend. Put it into my Xbox One and of course it will not play. I need to buy a new Gen Console. So went to my local shopping centre yesterday $799 gets the x $499 gets the S. I can see the difference as in memory one has a CD drive and more screen resolution. I still don't know what one to go for as my wife said We only use the Xbox now if she wants to watch an old DVD.

The storage space was never really an issue. I don't play 4 games at a time, and it's really easy to just plan when I need to install and delete games. Also, MANY games have really low storage demands. Right now I have around 7 games downloaded, and room to spare.

Just picked up the Holiday Deal at Target last night. Only $250, plus a “free” $50 Target gift card (ends Saturday!) Setup was a chore, but my God, what a library to choose from! Looking forward to digging into it this weekend! My Switch may very well start collecting dust until some key releases in 2023.

I used the series s for like 5 months before I sold it and built my own pc. For those 5 months, the s handled every game I played and it handled it well. Graphics looked great, and it's really quiet, as long as you don't care about 4k gaming the S will most likely do everything you expect it to.

I have a Series X myself. (And a PS5.) But bought a Series S for my wife. I played on hers one time and was blown away by how much value comes out of that little machine. Sooooo... I got myself one as well for $250.00 thanks to Black Friday sales. I use it for when I want to game and hang out with my wife when she isn't in the gaming area. I love my machine. And now I'll be getting an xScreen for it as well. That way I can take it with me on different travels with little issue. Also snagged one for my youngest sister as well. Her and her significant other maiy play on PlayStation, but with the Series S they are coming along. And she LOVES it. (Got her three years worth of GamePass Ultimate, too. For 150 bucks. So she is set for a while now.)

I have a Sony PS 4 (sounds like a 747 edition) and was ready for something new. I got GamePass ultimate, they had a three months for $1 3 weeks ago or so. Boom. I was hooked. I don’t have a 4K TV yet and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money upfront on a console. Plus the X is dang hard to find. I don’t want to go to a store every day to try and get one. The S was easy. Bought on July 3rd and I’ve been a happy camper since. The storage is annoying. It’s the only reason I almost worked at finding an X, but cloud gaming by really opens things up and I can get a $110 Samsung T7 SSD and either store or play many of the titles on Gamepass. I may eventually get the special SSD from MS and if I do and should I get an X later on it will work there and I can sell or hand-me-down the S and have 2TB of storage on the X. I agree with all your points. Good and balanced take on the series S.

I'm very tempted to get a Series S over the X. I tend to only play a few of games at a time. I have a gaming room with PC and PS5. Also a SIM racing rig set-up. I have gamepass and Psplus Extra. Occasionally I fancy just chilling in the living room with a game of FIFA. So the series S would do a good job

I have a PS5 (I only play exclusives on), you have to PAY for most of the things that are FREE with Game Pass. That's why I love my Xbox One X, and Series X. I may get a Series S because someone game me a $260 gift card for Target (for Christmas). I'm like uhh what am I going to get a Targe, so I saw the Series S. Might get it for my PC monitor, because I rarely game on my PC.

I actually picked up an XBSS at a Pawn shop for $175.00 and it was very clean and all I had to do was reset the machine to clear out old user's data. Then added my account and all is good. Great little console.

you can use an external drive to play Xbox one and older games on plus you can store ss/x games you just can't play them. The SX doesn't really hold that much more since a lot of games on the SX have a large file size.

A workaround for the storage just get a regular external HD and even Though you can’t play off those externals you can still add the games to the HD and just copy back and forth from the Series S when you want to play.

Scored mine on FB Marketplace for $130 barley used. Installed PS2, Dolphin, Xbox 360, PSP, and Retroarch emulators on it. And I am pleasantly impressed. Gamepass is worth. I'm going to buy another one.

Switch is not dying hardware, some awesome releases are still being produced such as Pokemon, Zelda, Mario etc. Also there is Nintendo switch online, much similar to game pass giving you access to tons of games.

The Xbox series S is a great console for those who went all digital gaming. And how small it is it's good for travel when going to a friend or family house I got a travel case for it. Only downside is the storage space, you can purchase a Seagate card storage device but it's very costly..... This is best as a secondary Xbox and for traveling. I still recommend the Xbox series X as your home console. You can still use a hard drive but only for Xbox One and Xbox 360 or Xbox original games.

You can use an external HHD with it for all the older games to play and to store your x/s game then just transfer them over when needed. I got mine for $250 and $50 for a 2t external.

I wasn't even planning to get another Xbox after my Xbox one S. I have always been a PlayStation guy. Ultimately I bought an Xbox series s because I was able to sell my Xbox one S for $200 and bought the Xbox series s for $249 for the holiday edition. The amazingly low price, compact size and game pass sold me on getting it. After using it a week and a half, I'm blown away by how much better this is than the Xbox one S. Instant on and quick resume are the most awesome features because it takes you immediately to your dashboard and games. The biggest con is the storage but honestly for $249 I can't complain. It's next gen gaming on a budget. This is easily the best deal in next gen gaming right now because you get an insane value for the price.

Storage is definitely the series s' biggest limitation. I have an external hard drive that I can transfer games between when I'm not playing them, but to make the most of the series s you are gonna need one of those seagate expansion cards, which are not cheap. the 512GB one (which I would not recommend because you will run out of space on it quickly) is over $100, the 1TB is $200 (meaning it costs 2/3rds of what the console does), and the 2TB costs a whopping $359. Until the prices come down, the best bet on storage is to get an external hard drive. $100 will get you anywhere from a 3-5TB drive. Or you could make your own seagate expansion card with the 3d printed kits and an nvm SSD, but that isn't guaranteed to always work. I love my series s but I don't love it enough to go the expansion card route so I just picked up an external hard drive and called it a day.

Alright so I have a pretty decent gaming PC, but if you're iffy about dropping $500 and want to get an Xbox to play with your kids is the storage space a complete deal breaker? Should I save up for the series x? I have fiber internet so download times aren't a big deal to me. Any advice is appreciated

An external hard drive or ssd solves the series S storage issue. Series X is around 800 gb, you'd be buying extra space for that as well. The memory cards are a ripoff. 4tb external hard drives are regularly under $100 or a 1 tb external ssd is typically $80 to $90. Only native 9th gen games require internal storage or the proprietary memory card, everything else plays fine off of external.

I think one thing to mention is that a high speed internet connection is essential to using a series s. So for all those truckers out there make sure you have internet connection available.

I just got one around Black Friday. Before that, I only had a Switch, which I sti play. They compliment each other nicely. I use my Switch for exclusives, and the Series S for everything else. As far as the Switch performance angle, I care nothing about all that.

Series S is a lil beast of a console. I bought one due to lack of availability of the X and it hasn't disappointed me at all and games run really well. Even when I get a Series X I will keep my S as a secondary or for when I travel or go round a friends house. And the price for what you get is amazing. I paid more for my PS4 Pro which died after 2 years and its controller died after a year.

The storage thing get me cause there's not even that many Xbox series s/x games . So you mainly are going to be playing Xbox one games , just get a regular hard drive(not the memory card) to store Xbox one/Xbox 360 games then use the system storage to store Xbox series games

Buy an external HDD. On Xbox you can transfer games on and off your internal as needed in the background while you play something else, no need to stare at the progress bar like on PS5.

I'm pretty sure no Games run off the disk anymore. They all have massive downloads when you get them so even the x is basically digital. Try playing a brand new game never installed with out connection to the internet you can't. The nice thing is you can delete them and your saves stay in the cloud then just re-download if you want to play them again. Also feel like alot of people don't have time for more then 4 games at a time that there actively playing so feel like the S will be the best option for more people. Though if you have slow internet the re-downloading would suck. Also i love that you can use AA batteries for when your rechargeable dies and your in heated game session and can't be close to plug it in to console or wall.

The storage issue just depends on who you are because form me on my series s I have 8 games, Apex Legends, Call of Duty modern warfare two, Fall Guys, Five nights at freddy's security breech, Fortnite, Halo infinite multiplayer, Rocket League, and minecraft. The storage on the console is perfect if you are into fps games or baisically any game that isn't like star wars halo campang madden or forza. Once again if you are into fps games this is perfect but the storage issue can depend apon what type of games you are going to be putting on the system.

The first thing anyone (who plays a wide variety of games) should do is plug-in an external USB SSD to a Series S. Not all, but lots of back-compat. and cross-gen games can be run off an external drive. The Master Chief Collection is an example of a huge game that (last I checked) can be run off an external drive. Games that can't be run off an external drive can still be stored there, and swapped to the internal storage much more quickly than a download.

I want series x but could not find one so i bought series s i had a xbox one with a 800 gb external hard drive so i just moved it to my series s was already configured for xbox so all i had to do is plug it in and i trafer games to and from internal hard drive it takes about 10 minutes which is not a big deal the only problem im haveing it is how long its taking for first party i new it would be awhile because Microsoft just bought studios this year is when they will start coming out cant wait for Starfield it looks amazing anyone that says it dont is blind it is the most realistic looking game i have ever seen when it comes to the creatures and landscapes

The storage is definitly a problem if you download new games. I only play retro compatible games on the console so it's been great so far. They're usually less than 10 gbs per game.
