I don't think KB held IR in any lesser regard than ARR. He was just trying to make the point that for someone who was so young, the modus operandi of composing was really commendable. That doesn't in any way demean IR's body of work or genius.

I don't even listen to it frequently because it dilutes the nostalgic moments.Music is music.There is nothing called BGM. KB had worked with lot of music directors like Maragatha mani,K S Narasimhan, Vidhyasagar and lot more. There requires no comparison of ones music with another.

i recall what K.B & Sridhar used to say. our pictures might have failed, but MSV songs in our film never. MSV said that Both the directors have the capacity to get the best songs/music from any Music directors. their passion, taste & inherent knowledge are like that

KB being such a director should have had some respect for a composer who gave him the ETERNAL BEST like Sindhu Bhairavi, Unnal Mudiyum Thambi (Rudra veena) both of which got IR his National Awards and the songs of Pudhu pudhu arthangal. The music stunned even the Carnatic experts and KB himself!! STUPID people as usual think that IR is the villain!

Prasanna, WOULD KB ACCEPT if his assistant director completes his movie and releases it, just because KB is not available for the next few days owing to unavoidable reasons??? So, according to you "KB has his own headweight", and that is right. BUT when Ilayaraja has it, it becomes "arrogance". How fair, just like the Indian legal system!! EXACTLY, if Faazil, Sathyan Anthikad, Balu Mahendra or Mahendran found it COMFORTABLE with IR, it PROVES that he is not arrogant as blind idiots deem him to be.

Mani's Anjali & Thalapathi came AFTER 1988-89. What are you commenting? Mahanadhi, Kaadhalukku mariyaadhai, Kaalapaani, Sethu etc....all were NON-KB / Mani movies. They all had TERRIFIC music and known for their BGMs too. IR NEVER FELL BUT WAS only CONSISTENT even after Arr was introduced in 1992. KB's arrogance was that maybe he thought IR will automatically fade away like MSV once arr got a string of hits. BUT IR is DIAMOND-WILLED, he NEVER fell, like his naysayers thought!

He has the GUTS & SELF-confidence to do it! He'll NEVER FAKE out nor wipe others' shoes for the sake of publicity or stage. He does NOT have to sugar-coat words, make sweet speeches and talk diplomatically for the stupid sake of it. Go get a (good) life.

Prasanna, thaan vechadhu dhaan sattam nu think pannadhu KB, NOT Ilayaraja. A director (no matter how big) has to give the composer his space. KB, as an artist himself, FAILED do do that. Because KB could not stand that ILAYARAJA MUSIC was praised MORE than KB's movies. So, he decides to proceed with the PPA re-recording without IR and paid the price for it, thinking he was only going to wipe out Ilayaraja. BUT what happened later is the opposite of what he thought!

Prasanna, ROTFL 😂 IR has composed for SEVERAL hit movies and 1000's of hit songs AFTER the KB-Mani breakup. Did you slip into coma in the 90's and 2000's? It was believed by directors/producers that IR music could save their movies (which, as you said, is TRUE indeed), it does not mean Monopoly. IR did NOT ask every producer/director for a chance and neither did he SNATCH projects from others nor "CONTROL" the movie industry, which is MONOPOLY. They ALL CAME to him, including KB & MANI.
